    Shrimp Scampi

Pasta food stall at the bougie Tysons Galleria? Sure, why not? The pasta is made fresh daily? at Scolapasta and there are a few choices to choose from. You have the option to build your own (pasta + sauce + topping), or you can choose from the Chef's Selection list. A big group of us stopped by for lunch last Thursday, and our orders were ready within 10-15 minutes. Even though we ate it at the food court, the pasta were served in take-out boxes, similar to the ones you might find at an American Chinese joint. While these boxes trapped all the heat in and kept the pasta nice and hot, they were quite annoying to eat out of. SHRIMP SCAMPI - 16.50 +4.30 for extra shrimp I'm glad I got extra shrimp because I was able to eat a piece of shrimp with every bite of pasta. Again, the pasta was pretty hot and fresh, and the sauce was savory, more tomato-ey than the typical garlic butter flair. I loved the texture of the squid ink noodles, which was a bit chewy and soaked up the sauce well. We all got different pastas. Overall, we agreed it was pretty tasty but quite expensive for how much we got. I knew some of my coworkers were still kind of hungry after.

Nice additional spot to grab food at Galleria. Very easy to order - either choose a few of their suggested pastas or make to order your own. Add protein to your pasta if you desire. I liked the the truffle pasta! Pesto was not a favorite choice. Staff were helpful and patient - takes time to decide on what kind of pasta to order! Packaging is cute in a small take out container. Drinks available to purchase and a few dessert options. Seating is in the same area - shared between several food establishments. Same parking that is used for the mall. Would try again!

Cacio e Pepe tagliatelle with chicken

I definitely enjoyed how fresh the pasta was! I went with the create your own with tagliatelle, chicken, and cacio e pepe. Everything was hot, fresh, and it was the perfect portion. For $16, that is unbeatable to me. I went on a late Friday afternoon, so it was empty. Service was good, quick, and I quickly found a seat in the vast amount of seating in that area of Tysons Galleria. I do wish there were fresh options like basil or veggies, but also know that is not authentic, so I respect there not being those options. I'll definitely be back soon!

Very much recommend trying the pasta here if you are in the mall. I definitely wasn't expecting the food here to be so delicious but I'm glad my expectations were exceeded! My fiancée and I ordered a custom pasta that was essentially like a cacio e pepe and got the squiggly noodles. Superb choice by my fiancée. The pasta was cooked al dente but was definitely made fresh. And the sauce was incredible. It had a wonderful cheesy flavor but not overpowering. Adding meatballs is a major upgrade to any pasta but especially the red sauce! The meatballs taste delicious and fresh. Some places have a frozen feel but not here. Ask for red pepper flakes and Parmesan cheese! The service is always friendly and relatively quick for being fresh made food. Usually get our food within 5-8 mins. The ambiance is that of the mall it's in which is better than other malls by far. We continue to come back because of how good the food is here. Highly suggest eating here next time you're at the mall.

    Arrabbiata on radiatori with meatballs
    Justine T.

Pasta was cooked perfectly, and the radiatori was a fun shape, but the arrabiata sauce was sooooo sour! It needed some sugar to balance out the acidity and give it more depth since it was one-note. I got meatballs for my topping and it wasn't great, either - the texture and flavor were akin to frozen meatballs. The service was alright, but the meal was overpriced - I won't be returning.

    White Truffle Radiatori Pasta ($15)

Scolapasta has been on my to-try list for a while now, and I finally came here to grab a quick dinner. It took me a while to find where Scolapasta was located in Tysons Galleria (it's not listed in the mall directory kiosk). Find Scolapasta on the third level in a nook between Andy's Pizza and Shotted. It's a fast-casual type place where you order and pay at the register. It's a simple menu where you pick your pasta type, sauce, and then can add extra proteins or special cheeses. They also had chef specials of more classic dishes like shrimp scampi. I opted for the Radiatori (pasta with ruffled edges like radiators - great for absorbing sauce) and white truffle sauce ($15). All of the pastas are made in-house and they have a nice little display at the counter to admire the pasta and help you get an idea of each shape. They'll call your order number when your food is ready. There's no speaker system or screen to check, so stay close! Food was ready in less than 10 minutes. Food was served in cardboard to-go containers. There's plenty of seating in this eatery corner. Based on previous reviews, I was worried that the serving size would be skimpy, but I actually think it's a fair portion - if you were to dump the box onto a plate, it would be consistent with a regular restaurant serving (the to-go box just makes it seem more compacted). I enjoyed my white truffle pasta and would be satisfied ordering it again and again. They also top it off with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese - and cheese makes everything better :). Even though it's a fast casual place, I do think the staff could be more engaging. As a first-timer, more signage of "order here" or even just willingness by staff behind the register to orient you to the concept would've been welcomed. They had a nice display of desserts in their glass case, including cannolis and tiramisu. I'll have to try them next time, because there will be a next time -- I'll be back ;). Note: They tack on a 3% processing fee to your check.

Thanks to Instagram for showcasing this place! And IG did not disappoint! This is located in Tysons II Food Court area so there is a lot of seating if you come with a big group or your family. Service was very friendly and patient with the questions we had. So you can build your own or order the menu they have. I got the Pesto. I love how the noodles were firm but yet still soft! Don't know too much about pasta, but this hit different. Would highly recommend trying this spot if you haven't done so already.

Okay so this spot was actually pleasantly surprising! I didn't think it would be all that but for fast casual pasta it taste amazingggg!!! It was so good I came here twice back to back You can taste the quality of the pasta. I ordered the truffle white pasta and added chicken to it. It was very delicious. I'll be back again to try something else. The service was quick and easy, but there's not much service required to order here. There's plenty of seats and it's located inside the food court of the Tysons Galleria mall.

Great concept, reminded me of Vappiano's from years back. They're located in the food court of Tyson's Galleria next to Andy's Pizza. You get your choice of 5 fresh pastas, then you pick your sauce and add a protein if you like. The staff are very friendly and the wait time is minimal ( due to the pasta being fresh). They serve the pasta in Chinese style boxes, and they're filled pretty well. I ordered the Rustica, a chef specialty casarece pasta with fresh mozzarella and arrabbiata sauce, it was amazing the pasta was al dente, and the sauce was just the right amount of spiciness. I ordered the cannoli dessert, they were delicious also. I recommend trying scolapasta, if you're looking for quality pasta at an affordable price

Came for Tuesday lunch so service was extremely quick! It's a great grab and go spot since the pasta comes packed in a box already. (Although having a to-go aesthetic at a bougie mall is a bit odd) The staff was super nice - I asked for a creamy pasta recommendation and was debating between the white truffle vs the shrimp scampi and she offered to let me try both sauces to help decide. Ended up getting the white truffle pasta and was not disappointed!

    Lynda D.

Delicious custom "build your own" pastas that are made quick and fresh. Many have mentioned their to-go style boxes but they are a fast casual type of restaurant so I don't mind them. The star here are their types of pasta noodles that are prepared fresh. My favorite is the radiatori for texture. Price can add up depending on what you get but you get a lot of pasta and they are generous with the protein. Not sure about other proteins but I chose chicken and got a lot of it! If you get bolognese sauce you don't really have to add a protein because it already has halal ground beef in it.

    Fresh handmade pasta

Delicious fresh pasta made to order, the mushroom truffle pasta is divine! The food is carried out in a Chinese like to-go box similar to Honeygrow. There's no for here option to get the pasta on a plate! It's a bummer! Thee are 5 types of fresh pastas to order from ranging on the length and thickness from thin long noodles like spaghetti and tagliatelle to thicker smaller pastas like radiatore and casaprese and hollow pasta like rigatoni. There are 8 sauces to choose from pesto, creamy white sauces, and a few types of red tomato sauces with meat, herbs, and spices. You can add chicken and cheese on top as an upcharge. I enjoyed the twisty noodle Casaprese in the creamy white truffle sauce! The thicker noodle pasta was al dente and paired really well and absorbed the sauce, the mushrooms were on point. The sauce is a bit oily as there was a small pool of oil at the bottom. My kids enjoyed the thick Radiatore with Pesto sauce that had tiny granular chunks of pine nuts mixed in (my kids didn't even notice them!). While the pasta was tasty, I preferred the creamy white sauce. I wish there were some more options to add veggies and also to feature gnocchi or a ravioli. Great pasta place and look forward to coming back for the creamy white truffle sauce and trying out more pasta and sauce combinations!

    Hiral D.

Great pasta although a bit pricey depending on the sauce and protein combo you get. You choose pasta, a sauce and one topping. They are pretty strict about the sauces (I wanted half truffle and half pomodoro). If you can't decide what to get, you can pick from the chef's favorites. I ate all the pasta and thought it was delicious but wanted more pasta (although I probably didn't need more pasta). I got the casarecce pasta with white truffle sauce and mozzarella. I wish there were a few more toppings available like veggies but it was still good without it. The pasta a was served in these tall cardboard take out containers. I found it a little strange and difficult to eat from but overall I thought the pasta was yummy. I'd get it again if I'm in the area.

Growing up Italian stateside, I never knew about this light, wavy pasta dish. So pappardelle pasta is like some rare delicacy and I love it. This pasta dish is not easy to find unless it has been popularized in the Italian dining scene, recently. How can I explain this pasta? Papardelle are not thick like butter noodles, but instead they are thin yet wide. And at Dal Grano's, they must be experienced to be savoured. Do call ahead, because they might just have them made. Dal Grano's is a neighborhood place. We love how when you are dining, they actually talk to you and are friendly. There are a few other places around Mclean proper which I wish were more overtly warm and hospitable, in this way. All of Dal Grano's pasta is homemade and delicious. It's definitely great for carryout pasta or a diner-style environment with a homemade pasta lunch or dinner. I don't think they deliver or work with any of the delivery services. You just call and pickup. The butternut squash ravioli is tender and flavorful. We have probably have gotten different versions of their ravioli every time. Outside of the papardelle, I'm all in for their rich squid ink pasta when it's made. I don't go there enough to know if it's always available. They have over 50 homemade pasta combinations to choose from and a big freezer case of food to take home. My biggest issue with Dal Grano's is when I see all of the pastas in the serving bowls presented to order and cook, I want to buy them all at once. I know it sounds tacky, but they make me yearn for a pasta buffet there just so that I can taste all of the variations. Alas, if we were in town more we'd just need to go more often to taste all of their selection. There's only one other restaurant that does Italian this well and it's around 15 minutes away in Falls Church. But even that fabulous Italian restaurant does not compare with the amount and selection of homemade pastas at Dal Grano's.

The restaurant describes itself as a place "where guests feel like family," and that ethos permeates the entire experience, from the convivial dining room to the hearty, classic dishes that arrive at the table. This is unapologetically a family-style local Italian restaurant, the sort where dishes are generous, conversations linger, and regulars greet the staff like old friends. The menu leans toward comforting Italian standards--pasta, seafood, and classic parmigiana dishes--prepared with an emphasis on simplicity and satisfying flavor rather than modern reinterpretation. The Oyster Chowder makes for a particularly inviting beginning. Velvety and indulgently creamy, the soup carries a gentle brininess from the oysters that balances the richness of the broth. It is the kind of starter that quietly sets the tone for the meal--comforting, generous, and thoughtfully seasoned. Among the entrées, the Eggplant Parmigiana stands out as one of the finest renditions in town. The eggplant is delicately breaded and cooked to a tender, almost silky consistency before being layered with marinara and melted Italian cheeses. The result is deeply satisfying without feeling heavy, a classic executed with admirable restraint. Equally impressive is the Calamari Marinara. The calamari itself is remarkably tender--no small feat in a dish where rubbery textures are all too common. Here, the seafood is perfectly cooked, lightly crisp where it should be, and paired with a bright marinara that adds just the right acidity. To conclude, the pistachio gelato offers a gentle, elegant finish. It leans toward the creamy side with a subtle pistachio fragrance and only a restrained sweetness--refreshing rather than cloying, and an ideal palate cleanser after a hearty Italian meal. In an era when many restaurants chase novelty, The Italian Oven succeeds by doing something far more meaningful: delivering dependable, soulful Italian comfort food in a welcoming neighborhood setting. It may not strive for haute cuisine, but its warmth, consistency, and well-executed classics make it a quietly cherished staple of McLean's dining scene. If anything, the experience feels less like dining out and more like being invited to a generous Italian family table--exactly the kind of restaurant every neighborhood hopes to have.

Since the sauce was extremely flavorful I forced my husband to share some of the skimpy sauce to dip my pizza crust on it. Luckily the guys had enough of the wonderful fried mozzarella and bread to not be grumpy. One tip that our whole party agreed on was that the sauce was better suited if it was paired with chunks of lobsters instead of of the stuffed short rib raviolis. I was happy with size of my thin crust pizza and it was way more than I could eat. However, I am not sure if I was actually ok with how the ingredients were divided jn the quarter a fourth of the pizza contained olives ,another fourth was the mushrooms, ,another fourth was the prosciutto and for the life of me I could not remember the fourth ingredient. I'm still ponedering whether I am a fan of this. My friend had the Marguerite pizza and she was extremely satisfied with it. One thing I noticed about it is the dim lighting, but to be fair it's a normal complaint for most eating establishments. We all had to break out our IPhone flashlights to read the menu. I wish most eateries would have a dimmer switch by your table so that when you are ordering, there is sufficient lighting as you read the menu and when done can be adjusted to mood lighting.
