I've shopped here for years but until now have not submitted a review. I was reminded recently how much I like this place. I have difficulty finding shoes that truly fit. Far too often I settled for less than ideal (too narrow, poor arch support, etc.) and suffered the consequences with aching feet, blisters and other irritations. Schuler employs people that actually understand how to measure ones feet and then properly size footwear. As a result I always walk out with shoes or boots that feel great, need no break-in period and look great. They offer a vast selection of quality brands and almost always have what I'm looking for and a perfect fit in stock. I usually wait for a sale and then stock up by buying multiple pairs of footwear. I've also joined their rewards program. Thus, pricing, particularly given the excellent service and quality selection becomes a relative bargain. This store can get busy but never to the point where I felt that I was unacknowledged or conversely felt rushed into making a purchase decision. The quality of the experience depends entirely on who you get to help you. I shop at two locations regularly and have found this to be true at both. I've had wonderful experiences with associates who have made suggestions for better fit and comfort which were spot on. During one shopping trip, I was having a a hard time finding athletic shoes that felt good and the associate said she was going to bring over their shoe insert specialist. The specialist had me try inserts that he said "would change my life". They really did. Those visits resulted in very high customer satisfaction from me and high ring sales for the store. On the other hand, I've had some bad experiences. In just the past year, 1) I was shopping for support slippers and when I said a pair was too large, the (very young) woman helping me said "they're slippers, they are supposed to be all loose and floppy". I don't think that is the case for an older adult seeking good support, 2) a gentleman who could not have been more disinterested in answering my questions, and 3) when my heel was clearly sliding all the way out of a shoe with each step, the associate said "that is the size you measured", I had to convince her to bring me a smaller size, got some pushback because the smaller size didn't match what she had measured. The smaller size fit perfectly. For the prices of their shoes, I'd expect more consistently good associates. read more

Fought back tears today when the pedorthist found me a combination of shoes and inserts that were not only comfortable, but also didn't look like hot garbage. I was referred here by my pediatrist. If you have foot issues, and some time, make an appointment with one of their certified pedorthists and walk and run without pain. I honestly can't remember when I last purchased shoes in an actual brick-and-mortar store. Honestly for the last several years I've done all of my shopping online. Unfortunately, I procrastinated too much and needed a pair of shoes stat, for a trip to New York City the next day. I have wide feet and I needed some comfortable shoes. I did a Google search and schuler shoes came up. Fortunately, there's multiple locations that are closed and they carry a wide range of shoe widths. I felt kind of silly going into the store, because I thought it would be absolutely empty, but to my surprise there were lots of employees and also lots of people. I browsed around, picking up a couple of options, and because my feet had not been pedicured for a while, I waited for a female employee to come and help me. After waiting for a while, none seem to be available, and a male employee, Ukash, asked if I needed help. HE WAS AMAZING! He was very professional, very gentle, not to mention super helpful. He measured my feet and went to go find some shoes in my size. Some of the ones that I picked out weren't available in my size, thus he went out of his way to find other options. He made me try the shoes on multiple times, before making a decision and I ended up purchasing two pairs of shoes. I'm embarrassed to say, that the same day I bought these shoes, I returned four other pairs of work shoes at UPS, because they didn't work. I don't know why I've been torturing myself all these years and trying to buy things online, without trying them on first. All told, I'll be a customer for life. read more

I discovered Schuler Shoes 7 years ago on a visit to Minneapolis. During that 7 years I have gone to buy shoes at home several times, and each time I promised myself I would wait to buy shoes until my next chance to travel to Minneapolis. I'm glad (or sad) to report that none of our shoe stores at home can earn my business. Schuler shoes has earned all my family shoe business. We have purchased over 30 pair of shoes here and I still can't find a good reason to go anywhere else. Staff training is what makes the difference. Every staff member at Schuler knows shoes. They know shoe construction, materials, lasts, support, laces, comfort, and fashion. I'm sure they are trained in more stuff than that, like sales, the golden rule, gaining a customer, not just a sale, etc.. Price might be important, but at Schuler, it is secondary to the high quality customer service you get. For those of us that need orthotics, there are trained (Board Certified Pedorthists) on staff at every store. They ice the Schuler cake for me. My podiatrist recommended shoe inserts so I went to the Roseville location to pick some up. Mitch welcomed me as soon as I entered the store and was extremely helpful. I've been complaining about my aching feet for almost 20 years -- so decided it was time to celebrate by putting my money where my loud, annoying mouth is and go sensible. Hence the trip to Schuler Shoes, which must be said in as nasally a voice as possible for full effect. The experience was 80% enjoyable. Excellent: sale prices (I bought 3 pr. of 50 %-off shoes for a total that was under $150). Selection (more sensible shoes under one roof and you're at an AARP convention. Hahahahaha I slay myself). Variety (I bought 3 pr of 2-inch heels. Not a birkenstock was even touched. Sadness: the salespeople's understand of "sexy." I said that I wanted a comfortable but stylish shoe with a closed toe (no sandals) that had a significant heel. He handed me a clog. I looked down at my feet in their scuffed danskos and said, "I'm trying to get away from that look for work". He handed me a Reiker shoe that would have blended in seamlessly with varicose-vein stockings. I said, "Hmmm. Maybe something -- I'm not a shoe salesman so I don't know the right word -- but maybe, more, um, sexy?" He brightened and came back with a hideous, hideous Mephisto. Wedge heal brown mule. More excellences, however: you can return without a receipt since they log your purchases by your phone number. You can return sale items. This policy alone made me want to go back. I have pretty much consistently had good service at Schuler shoes but recently I had EXCEPTIONAL service from a footwear consultant who's name is Ukash M. Ukash (pronounced 'youkahsh') impressed me SO much with his courtesy, earnestness, kindness and impeccable customer service, I wanted to write about it. I was looking specifically for Orthaheel brand shoes and I tried on practically every style they had in that brand. Ukash had such a helpful manner and when one color I really wanted wasn't available he tracked a pair down for me and had it delivered to the store. I would highly recommend Ukash to help you find the shoes you want. I was lucky that all the Orthaheel/Vionic summer styles were 15% off so I scored big time. I have a knee replacement and arthritis in my knees and have foot issues so there are very few shoes I can wear without the orthodic I had specifically made for my feet. However...I have found that I can wear Orthaheel/Vionic sandals (the style that are similar to flip-flops) because the arch is wonderful in these sandals! I have 6 pairs in all different colors and I can wear them all day long without an orthodic! I bought three pair with sequins on them (silver, navy, and brown (so cute) and they dress up any outfit I am wearing! If you are confined to wearing flats, Orthaheel is the way to go, they even have cute strappy regular shoes! In the past I had some expensive shoes not work out and Schuler Shoes honored their return policy without any difficulty. You also earn points every time you purchase shoes at Schulers and believe me, it adds up! I had $25.00 worth of points to use on my sandal purchase! Woo Hoo!!!!! I will continue to return to Schuler Shoes for my shoe needs and I will make sure I go on the days that Ukash is working! I went in to Schuler shoes at a time when the sales people knew I was going to buy shoes. So I got attention pretty quickly. When I came in to return shoes I was not given any kind of attention. The sales people looked at me but turned away. Finally I found the woman who sold me my shoes and I got her attention. She didn't greet me as warmly when she saw I was returning shoes. When looking for other shoes she was barely speaking to me but finally warmed up. The manager is great but he needs to train his staff to give attention to all even if there is a return items. When you feel blown off you don't want to shop there. Schuler of course has great shoes as always but I might look to other sources as well. I love the comfortable stylish shoes here (for people w bad feet) but the customer service is really something. They all work on commission so they assign (attack) you when you come in the door and then they wait by you while trying on shoes but are constantly looking around for more customers (so not really focused on you). I asked someone for help and they wouldn't talk to me or help because someone else was "assigned" or already helping me. It is weird. The employees do not work together or as a team and are in it for themselves. It is uncomfortable. I watched an employee get mad at another employee 3 times because he wasn't helping me when I didn't want help. Why don't they work together and be nice??? This is the wrong work model! It is gross. Too bad they don't realize we have other choices and the internet is readily available. read more

HAVE MERCY. You have no idea how grateful I am this store exists. So here's my deal. I had foot surgery months ago and the recovery has been slow AF and painful. It's significantly limited me in terms of footwear (I basically had to throw out half my shoes, knowing that I will never wear them again). Basically, I can't bend my forefoot (my big toe is stiff as steel and I have to wear an orthopedic insert/carbon fiber plate in any non-stiff toe shoe). I have found nearly all my post-surgery shoes here, and they are as follows: - Winter boots by Toe Warmers. They aren't that great looking, but I DGAF about appearance in winter so it's alright. These shoes were warm, highly durable, and had a deep set tongue so that my carbon fiber plate orthopedic insert miraculously fit. You have no idea how much relief I felt having found these just in time for winter!!! I will say that I had someone from the Bloomington location help me get them -- a store manager (I think his name was David) who was very patient and helpful - A pair of New Balance sneakers that, again, thankfully can accommodate my orthopedic insert. And these look like normal athletic shoes. Sleak, not bulky. Super comfy. - 2 pairs of dress shoes (for when my feet are ready, they were too amazing to pass up!) and 1 pair of cork-soled sandals by Taos. I got these at this St. Louis Park store and was again helped by a super helpful and kind attendant. My injury has really reinforced in me how important quality footwear is. It's easy to splurge here as the shoes are pricey, but I'm committed to getting just quality shoes, rather than many cheap ones that are bad for your foot health. Will you find homely, orthopedic shoes here? Yeah, not gonna lie. BUT you will also be surprised to find MANY gorgeous shoes that don't compromise on aesthetic while being comfortable and good for your feet. It's why I splurged on my last visit because the shoes were really elegant, notably higher quality and very comfortable. My experience so far has confirmed that my dollar goes much further with a quality shoe. If I had stumbled upon some extra money, I would have gotten even more pairs -- it was hard to narrow my last trip down to three shoes (remember, I'm basically starting from scratch after my surgery). Their spring/summer collections are just wonderful, so I highly recommend checking out any of their locations! read more

Went in this morning since I was in the area and thought I might find some new shoes for Winter. Walked back to the mens section and no offer of assistance by anyone. Went into the sale room and no sales people there. Went back to the mens section to find the same 2 sales women standing there talking (one had been going on about her impending surgery) now joined by 2 other sales women now looking at photos on someones phone and cooing. STILL no help. I had to write this review because this is becoming all too common these days in all types of establishments where the employees are too busy with each other to be bothered with customers. They aren't cheap and they can get busy so you may have to wait (or come back mid-week), but they have some very knowledgeable sales staff and pedorthists and a great selection of comfortable shoes. I bought a pair of Sorel boots at Schuler shoes and they said they were water proof. Well, last Winter my socks were wet from the beginning of my day to the end. I trusted Schuler to provide quality boots and they didn't deliver. They need to research their boots before selling them. I'm sure they won't take back the boots as they are over a year old. I think the only good pair of Winter boots should be all rubberized. You can't purchase and trust when they say it's water proof. I guess we need to do our own research online before making a purchase. read more

I received a Schuler Shoe ad in the mail a couple days ago for delivery between 10-27 and 10-29. It arrived on the 27th for sale between delivery date and November 9. If Schuler Shoes thinks putting out an ad without prices listed, they have a second guess coming. I have bought shoes at Schuler and very satisfied, but this turns me off. Driving 10 miles to find out how much a shoe costs is not my idea of a good shopping experience. It turns me off before I even get to the store. The ad went in the trash. Unfortunately, I didn't have the positive experience it appears most reviewers had at Schuler Shoes. I have had great difficulty in obtaining proper footwear. It is embarrassing and hard for me but I had a good experience with a pair of Birkenstocks and that experience propelled me into a Schuler store to ask for help in hopes of buying winter shoes that would fit. I was surprised to find the store busy in the early evening. No one greeted me or appeared available to interact with me, however the salespeople were very attentive to the people who they were helping. The reason I write this review is because when I decided to throw in the towel after waiting in the store and actively looking at shoes, a woman walked in the door and was immediately greeted and helped. This made me wonder if I don't match the target customer (based on how I looked or my perceived wealth). I had plenty of money to buy several pairs of expensive shoes should the fit match (because it is so hard to buy shoes, I come prepared). I wish I had a better experience at Schuler. read more

My brother has special needs and I have flat feet with a narrow heel. I am 68 yrs old and I wish I had started shopping here in my 20's. Finally I can now find shoes that work for me! We do not buy shoes, slippers, or boots from anywhere else. We have been shopping here for about 8 years. On our first visit, we needed help with fittings so we waited for a specialist to be free. I now call the store beforehand and make sure he is working that day. It is great to have someone who knows our needs and can direct us immediately to what we are looking for.
