My wife was looking for shoes at Famous Footwear near Schuler Shoes in Southtown but was unable to find what she wanted so we decided to walk a few steps down to Schuler Shoes. What a contrast! Instead of the chaos at Famous Footwear we found a very orderly store with attractive displays and very helpful sales associates. The person who helped us was very knowledgeable about their products and helped my wife find what she wanted. He took time to make sure she had a proper fit and suggested several useful accessories. Anyone who appreciates good customer service, like me, loves Schulers. There employees are very well trained and in my experience will work hard not jsut to sell you something, but to find the very best fit for you. On my most recent visit I had been suffering with some foot problems and the extremely helpful assistant manager worked with me to find things that would help. We tried on about 8 different pairs of walking and hiking shoes and about 3 different types of inserts. The process took nearly an hour yet he was attentive and helpful throughout. Its this type of help that has made them so successful. While they may not have as big a selection as some other places, I've always been able to find something when I shop at Schulers. read more

My doctor referred me to Schuler Shoes for inserts. Apparently, as you age, you need to really support your arches. I made an appointment with Mike and he helped me find a pair of sandals for my feet that had great arch support. He also recommended arch supports. Service here is great. Prices are higher but you do receive great service - a rarity in shoes. They have a large selection for women and a good selection for men. read more

I'm picky about my feet and my kids' feet. Like many ladies, I wore heels way too often for many years and now my feet are tired. I like Schuler Shoes for their high quality sturdy and supportive shoes that are still a bit fashionable. Schuler seems to mostly employ people who are good are listening to what you want. Be prepared to spend some $$ for those trendy Merrell sneaks, Keen sandals or Clarks boots, but your toes will thank you. Three stars bc the kids selection at this location is very very small. This is the place, girls, to get your walking shoes, your running shoes, your funky flip flops and your glam sandals. Schuler has pretty much anything your poor tootsies would want. Now I know that comfort shoes and sexy shouldn't be in the same sentence, but what's not to like about the awesome maps on the bottoms of the cute ballet shoes? And the Naot and Mephisto sandals have come a long way from the blunt birkenstock look. Which Schuler carries also. For running they carry the New Balance running shoes or walking shoes if you want to go slower. Do not forget to check out the bargain room on the right end of the store. I got yet another pair of killer pumps that will work great in the office or at a cocktail soiree. They carry both men's and women's shoes, on the day I was there there were 12 8-foot tables full of men's sale shoes. read more

She took the time to really help my wife the right size and fit. We we're so impressed we purchased two pairs. I've only been to Schuler Shoes once as there are not any locations that close to me. That being said I would make more special trips. I know in the zappos.com day and age that sounds kind of crazy but they really are one of a kind shoe store even for a tried and true online shopper like myself. I am a casual runner and started having foot problems my podiatrist recommended Schuler shoes. The assortment looks very old lady and non descript as you walk in but someone helped me right away. He was very helpful as I was looking for specific items. He recommended a pair of New Balance running shoes with a special insert. So comfy. Another insert for dress shoes as well as some halflinger (you know the wool house shoes) for wearing around the house. I was a little annoyed at first that I can no longer wear my fashionable, cheap and very uncomfortable shoes. But my feet have thanked me! Also, upon further inspection they do have some cute shoes (keen, earth shoes, etc). Their service is top notch! read more

I had a wonderful experience at Schuler Shoes. I needed shoes to address an injured foot. Mike (who is an orthotist), has special skills to assess and recommend shoes based on his observation of your feet and gait. I really appreciated his time and effort to help me get the right shoes and additional "custom fit" as needed. My wife and I were both fitted by Mike and are very happy with the shoes we purchased. I didn't end up buying any shoes here tonight, but Joe the manager was so helpful that I decided it was high time to come give this store a review on Yelp. I came in looking for "30-minute walk outside in Minnesota" boots that were dressy enough that I wouldn't feel like I was supposed to take them off for the day when I got to work. This is my 2nd time at the store (not in my neck of the woods) and I've found it to be a very pleasant shopping experience with good selection both times. In fact, I made the slight detour from REI tonight because I'd had such an easy time shopping there the first time I stumbled upon this store. Back to my quest for boots - Joe steered me away from the things on clearance not to get me to spend more money, but because he simply didn't think I'd find them warm enough. He said exactly what brands were waterproof and insulated that he was aware of, told me whether this Schuler carried them / if they ever would carry them, and then told me about competitors across town I could go to that carried the brands he had recommended! Terrible experience. Went in today because my grandparents usually shop for their shoes here. They had a decent selection but it's definitely a store which caters primarily to the elder demographic. We were harassed by one of their salespeople who became incredibly pushy and legitimately followed us around as we were looking at their selection while she grabbed the exact opposite of shoe we were looking for over and over again, shoving it into our faces. When I politely told her we were okay and could keep looking without her help, she continued to follow us around before being rude about the type of shoe I was looking for. As as a junior in high school I had to wear Red Cross shoes to school because my high arches ached in regular "fashion" shoes. Painful! I discovered Schuler Shoes some years ago. Oh my!!! The Think Mizzi Face sandals are heaven! They are the most comfortable shoe I have ever stepped into! The style is so attractive; I get compliments on my shoes wherever I go! Schuler Shoes carries such a variety of well-made, attractive shoes, you cannot go wrong! I have purchased beautiful leather boots, Kind sandals, New Balance sport shoes, etc. I have found that the Schuler Shoes at Bloomington has a wonderful, helpful staff, starting with Brenda! At that time a manager, now transferred to the Woodbury store, Brenda was the most helpful, kind, positive, gracious shoe saleswoman! There are three other sales people I have worked with at this store, and they have all been so helpful and kind! It makes shopping there a pleasant experience! They used to be known for their service, but now they are below most retail stores. Walk in and if you are a guy they will wait on you, if you are a woman they ignore you. The people do not have knowledge of the shoes anymore like they used to, and you are better off just going to where you can wait on yourself or online because it will be cheaper. They will try to push you into a different size that doesn't fit just to make a sale. Must be on commission. Three times I have tried this store recently, because I have an odd size shoe, three times they have struck out. I think the manager needs to do something besides apologize. If you complain, expect to be laughed at. Not the Schuler of the past, that's for sure. read more
