Despite only carrying new balance athletic shoes, the service was incredible.

My wife was looking for a brand of shoes which only seemed available at Famous Footwear so we…read moredropped by to look. This was the first time we had been to Famous Footwear and it was a bit of a shock. The store itself is a mess with rows and rows of shoe boxes and not much actual merchandise on display so you pretty much need to know what you want before you go as "window shopping". There is not good seating for you to try on shoes - if you can find what you want in the chaos. There was a person there who was helpful but in the end we did not find what we wanted and went down a couple of doors to Shulers Shoes which had a much better selection, a better environment, and more professional service. There we bought a pair of shoes and some accessories. I would not go back to Famous Footwear.

During this visit, the manager called another store to learn if they had the shoes we needed in my son's size. Fortunately, they did, so we bought the wingtips that we'd found at this location and drove over to the Savage location for the sneakers needed for school. Yes, my 14 year-old son wears wingtips. Most of the men's shoes have sizes up to 16, so it's pretty easy to find what you need here. They even carry these larger sizes in medium width. My son doesn't have wide feet, so it can be difficult to get shoes that work well with his gun boats. The women's shoes on offer are great, too. Stylish and not all super-high heels. They recognize that not every woman wishes to reach for the stars when she's wearing nice shoes.

I'm not big on malls, but this is one of those things I guess you have to try at least once. It's…read moreevery mall you've ever been to mashed into one gargantuan building with all of humanity stuffed inside. More space for more stores, more food options, more parking lots and garages, and a miniature amusement park in the middle. My son and I are from NJ and he insisted on coming here during our roadtrip across America. He's not a big shopper but loved the amusement park of course. I went on one of the rides with him and he went on a few more on his own. The wait for the rides was pretty long. The whole thing is quite an impressive display of American consumerism and just plain over-the-top, go-big-or-go-home insanity. It's fine for a few hours, but after a while it can become sensory overload, and I'm happy to cross it off my bucket list and move on with the roadtrip.

They have many of the same stores on different levels, such as Lids, so if you miss it the first time, you can still go shop there at a different level without having to go all the way back to shop at the store. My favorite part is the Nickelodeon Universe. I did not expect an amusement park inside a mall! Such a cool concept. Lots of rides. It's very friendly for all ages. I also like the Crayola Experience. It was very unique. I didn't sign up to do a full on tour experience, but the gift shop is pretty neat where you can build your own crayon bucket and choose so many special shades of different colors. They also have two different mini golf courses here. There is so much to do here! The top floor has the most dining options. They even have a Rainforest Cafe here, which is a great option for kids. They have casual dining in the food court and full on serviced restaurants. With such variety, there is honestly something for everyone here!

I'm looking at this coming from IKEA, realize it's the Upper Midwest, and see an MOA venue named "Flyover." Anyone else find this humorous?
