Considering I know absolutely zero about running shoes, I followed that advice and had a top-notch experience. I was greeted by Kathleen, who is a total gem, and was directed to a bench to place my belongings. I then did a 3D foot scan, followed by a quick walk up and down the store so she could watch my gait. Kathleen brought the tablet over and we looked at the scans. She said a lot of foot terms and I nodded along, fully trusting the process. Shoes were suggested and then taken for a spin around the store. They were all excellent choices, but I had to choose one and went with a pair of Asics. I was so glad I had a shoe guide for the journey. Kathleen was knowledgeable and kind. The store has running accessories, apparel, and even nutrition offerings. I'm not saying I'm a runner, but I would definitely make a return visit for another pair of shoes down the road.

They had a pretty large selection as always; in varying states of condition. I wasn't struck by anything much but then there it was - a sweet, almost new,Timbuk2 bag. I took it to the counter and made an offer of about 20% less than then we're asking. They accepted as I guessed they would. They're always quite generous. The woman who usually does the excellent work on the repairs that I bring in approached the counter. She started searching my new bag looking for the sternum strap that she knew should go with it. She couldn't find it so guess what she did? She went to the sewing machine and made one for me. It was perfect; useful the first time out. I asked how much she wanted for the strap she had just made me from scratch. "Nothing" she said. "It goes with the bag." This is so typical of my experiences at the Lair. They do great work. They're friendly and generous. I recommend them highly and I tell all my friends about them. Thanks for the the great service Repair Lair!

The price I ended up paying was slightly lower than the price quoted, in part because of a cash discount. I might have gotten a new backpack for the price of the repair, but then I would have been stuck with a useless backpack. Also, there's a good chance that a new backpack would be poorer quality. I'm so glad my spouse spotted this little shop while we were driving down Minnehaha!

The staff are very knowledgeable, so let them know your concerns (plantar fasciitis? More/less cushion? Over-pronated/supinated?) When it comes to the value, you get what you pay for. They're able to charge under market value, but they can still be expensive. With this in mind, they do have a generous sales room where shoes can be ~$20-40 off (I haven't been there often enough to know how the sales change, so I might be off). All in all, I highly recommend this place for your next sneaker purchase, athlete or not.

Got the suit, the pants were at least 12 inches too long (honestly comical) - I was then told they "fit great" by the employee I was working with. When I asked for them to be tailored & stated to multiple employees they didn't fit at all (nothing on the person I was working with) the manager... said no we won't tailor them (after I said I'd pay for that to be done). I proceeded to get recommendations of places to go INSTEAD of them doing a simple quick job. If you want more stress on yourself, less on them... get your suits here.

Um...favorite store in the world…read more I'm almost anxious to give this such a good rating because I want to keep it a secret! Their slogan is true, it is the best kept secret in the Twin Cities! So this place isn't your typical consignment store. There's so many around the area that that market is saturated and boring. No, this is a store for high end clothing that is slightly imperfect. This could mean a makeup stain from someone who tried it on in the store, a small fabric tear, a broken zipper, or a snag in the material. The imperfections range in size and severity. These clothes have never been owned--the luxury brand tags are always still attached! Annex gets shipments in 6 week cycles. The first few weeks are full price ($15-$25...still dirt cheap for high quality brands!) and the clothes that usually go during this time are the nice brands with very small imperfections. Next, the store marks ALL clothes down to $10 for a few weeks. Then to $5 for about a week. Then......$3 for two days!!! I pretty much only go during the $3 days because I love to hunt for the last treasures standing. I get the best deals here. Michael Kors, Free People, and Loft are a few of my favorite brands I get here for dirt cheap. You do have to be willing to either stitch up an imperfection or live with a slightly impaired product, but if perfection isn't a requirement for you, you have to check this place out! They have awesome bags and shoes too, but these don't go on sale typically. Shoes range from $5-$25--some have no visible imperfections, but stay away from ones with broken straps or other things not worth trying to fix. Bags usually have a little black mark or something easy to look past, and they sell great bag brands like Michael Kors and Cole Haan. I cannot emphasize enough how much I love this place. All my friends know when I wear something new that I got it for $3 at Annex. If you're willing to fix a small imperfection or look past it, this is the place for you! Happy hunting :)

Everything is at least 80% off retail. All of the items are damaged in some way (hole, rip, makeup stain, broken zipper, etc). They conveniently attach a tag that describes the damage, as well as where it's located. Personally, I haven't had luck here, but I friend of mine is in love with this place. She frequently finds dresses that are as low as $3 and simply need the zipper replaced. If only I had that kind of time and skill! Again, if you have the time and the ability to mend clothing, you'll have a heck of a time shopping here.
