I went to Dick's with my 16 year old grandson to buy some fishing lures. As the store seems to specialize mostly in clothing I didn't expected much but it was close to my house. They actually have a fairly decent selection of fishing gear. There was no service or anyone who seemed available to help. This seems a common complaint Check out was slow. I find shopping at Dick's a bit depressing as there is a notable lack of knowledgeable service. There is plenty of parking however and the location is convenient. read more

Stopped here on Friday to pick up bib and sweatshirt for Hot Cider 5K. I probably wouldn't have made the trek but there was a 20% off everything coupon. My running shoes are worn by toe area and I like Ascics a lot. They don't carry Ascics. I tried on Brooks (uncomfortable) and these other Nike shoes. The white ones I found were most comfortable. I wore them walking when I got home and I had the wrong socks on. They were uncomfortable. Today I had my Feetures socks on and did the 5K and it was better. This season, the Minnesota Wild released a retro clothing and accessories line. The yellow and lime colours (think Sprite, the soft drink) in their line are a throwback to the colours that once were a part of the Minnesota North Stars jerseys. At first, I was indifferent. I then got a retro Wild t-shirt that was more green than yellow and I love it. I recently was looking for a retro Wild cap. Naturally, I was late to the party. The Hockey Lodge, where I normally get my Wild apparel, didn't have any. I did a search online and found that Dick's Sporting Goods did. Most folks can order online and pick up their order at a specified store. Because I am not an American with a physical U.S. address and an American credit card, I can't do it. Instead, I looked online and found that this store in Richfield had four retro caps available. Yay! I drove over to this store on a Monday night. It was roughly a ten-minute drive from where I was staying in Bloomington. There was a ton of parking. I parked and walked into the store. This Dick's store is huge. Luckily, there was a male staffer when I first walked in, greeting everyone. "Hello! Is there anything that I can help you with?" he asked me. "Hi! Yes. I'm looking for a retro Minnesota Wild cap," I said. "You want to go up the escalator, turn left, and walk straight ahead until you see the Wild section," he said. "Thanks so much!" I replied and followed his instructions. He saved me a ton of time. This store has two floors. I would have walked the entire first floor before heading up to the second floor to find what I was looking for. He was a saint in Dick's apparel. His directions were perfect. I found the Wild section and the cap that I wanted. The colours matched my retro t-shirt. The cap was adjustable for my big noggin. I loved it. I'm not sure if I want a retro Wild jersey. I invested in a jersey from last year's winter classic. I love that one so much that I don't really need another one. I loved walking around this store, relieved that I found what I was looking for. I don't have any Twins or Timberwolves attire. I still don't. I didn't see anything that I wanted. This store has a nice selection of Crocs. Sadly, I didn't find a purple pair in my size. What was cool was seeing Birkenstocks in EVA material, which makes them lightweight and waterproof. On The Jason Show, Jason highly recommended these sandals. You don't need to break into them like you do with traditional Birkenstocks. I found a lavender pair in my size. Yay! My feet felt comfy wearing them in the store. I had to get them. I had the best woman at the cashout area. I couldn't remember whether I had signed up for rewards. She checked and I hadn't. She went ahead and signed me up for free. For my ZIP code, I went with my old Rochester address. "It makes sense that you are shopping here. The Rochester location recently closed," she noted. First, I had no idea that Rochester had a Dick's. Second, I didn't know that it was closed. I do now! I paid with a credit card. All went well. Whenever I shop at Dick's, I simply state my phone number before I paid for my items and I earn points. I had the best experience at this store. I tried them for a block and realized my 2 yr old Vaporfly's actually felt like there was more of a carbon plate than the ones received. I shipped the shoes back and the return was denied. Sad that the reviews are so low. I love Dicks Sporting Goods. Yes, the prices can sometimes be a little outrageous and out there, but if you look for similar items online, it will be pretty much about the same. The inventory here is incredible, there is so much of everything. I love Nike and the t-shirt, sweatshirt, sweatpant, socks inventory is amazing! I have also come here for quality North Face gloves (they have a bunch of options) and also for camping chairs. They also have Yeti products here which is awesome because it nice to see these things in person because it is definitely different than online. The only downside is that the place is HUGE and that they sometimes do not have a ton of staff working there but other than that.. I'm a fan! read more

I frequent this place when in the area. I was greeted quickly by one of the employees upon arrival. Once I found the product I needed, then I noticed only 1 employee working the checkout register while 10-12 other employees were causally standing around. Someone from the store finally noticed and messaged that they needed to open up another register, which took another few minutes to find someone willing to do so. Apparently, they don't have enough trained employees to work the cash register, or no one chose to step up and take care of several of us waiting in line. This was very disappointing. read more

I bought sweatpants and shorts here and they didn't fit properly, I went back with all the tags and receipts, and they wouldn't take the sweatpants because I washed them , I was trying to be respectful, the shorts I didn't wash but they didn't believe that. I've bought all my lifting gear here and other gym related clothing and they were unwilling to work with me in this scenario when I simply just want clothing that fits correctly, pretty disappointing as there stuff is not cheap and I cannot afford to just buy new stuff and take a loss on the stuff that didn't fit. I don't love how they look at you with suspicion when I literally have everything I needed and my only mistake was washing the sweat pants because I typically don't return stuff and that I just wanted it to look nice, but yeah wouldn't recommend, go somewhere cheaper or always try stuff on. I will never shop here again. I bought a t shirt that frayed after one wash. I had the receipt but was told that since I wore it they could not take it back and that I had to contact the manufacturer or seller. They did not stand behind it at all and really said it was up to me to contact the manufacturer. I went to that website and it only would take returns purchased through their site. I then decided to call customer service for Dicks who said I needed to go online to return it. I did that and it appears I can do it! Another mega-store, this one focusing on sporting goods and apparel. Its a bit difficult to shop due to its size and the amount of merchandise cramming each of the two stories. Try going up the escalator in the center of the store to start out to get the lay of the land - you can come right down again and this will save you some wandering (unless you like that sort of thing). i've been to this location a few times since it's close to where I live. The service has been awful each time and my experience each time was awful. I had to do a return for my online purchase I made the manager who helped do my return wanted to see my ID and commented that I shouldn't of did undercut on my hair and that my hair was nice as it was in the picture. which was very inappropriate to comment on-My hair was down in my license picture so you couldn't see my undercut when I went in that day I had my hair up in a bun and you can see the undercut. She made me feel very uncomfortable. Today when I went in I was not offered my full refund for an incorrect order I had picked up. Management was no help. I cannot comment on Google reviews because for the Richfield location since they have disabled reviews. Aside from these experiences the store is is in bad condition. They do not maintain their inventory or store at all. There's barely any staff to help you especially in the shoe department. The employees that work in the shoe department have an attitude when requesting shoe sizes. Roseville location is it much better. You're better off going to the store Minnetonka location. read more

Ok, I know this store is a total pain in the butt to get to, but it's always been worth it. The staff always have time to answer all of your questions they've heard for the millionth time. I worked with Melissa today and she was patient, informative and diligent about her customer service. She checked through the roller blade box to make sure it had all of its protective heat and the correct left and right rollerblades. I'm also thankful she introduced me to the equipment protection plan. Did you know for $4.99 I could have been protecting my leather footballs and basketballs and some soccer balls from m dog and the weather!?? The store is huge, but well organized. Sometimes it's easy to complain when you're trying to go in and out quick, so my recommendation is plan ahead and have time to search out that next great birthday present like I did. read more

Was checking out and whoever the male employee was, was in a mood. Super negative attitude and not friendly. He proceeded with the checkout process and then another employee came up next to me and they started chatting and gabbing about something, and I'm just waiting patiently for my stuff. Put in my card, paid, clicked for a "print" receipt and then waited for my stuff. He handed me my stuff in the bag and receipt was still sitting on the receipt printer. He was still talking to the other employee so I asked if I could have my receipt so I could leave (as I was just sitting there waiting with my bag of my purchase). He gave me a VERY sassy response "I was just about to hand it to you." (No dude, you weren't. You totally forgot about it until I asked). I then proceed to walk out upset and annoyed at the situation and as I'm nearing the exit I hear him make a comment, a sassy comment along the lines of hoping my attitude goes up this weekend. I then comment back as I'm walking out that he's the one that had an attitude before I even walked up to his register and proceeded to walk out. The worst experience ever had. I got stuff for 190$.and all I asked for is my receipt. He told me the system is down,I told him I still need any kind of receipt,he gave me the worst attitude ever I couldn't say anything because I had my young daughter with with me. Dang I really wanted to like this place...with a ton of kayaks everywhere I felt like I was home walking in. But on the entire top floor there were two sales reps...yeap two...and the pricing/signage is so bad you have no idea the costs of half the items. So...after roaming the entire floor and yelling "Marco..." we finally got a "Polo"...on the opposite side of the store. They had a decent selection of PDF's...but could be better. Definitely need a bit more selection of water sports gear. The first said "if we have them they would be there" and pointed across the store. After checking "over there" and not finding them we asked the person at check out. This just goes towards my case why Dick's is my favorite sporting goods store. This place is huge and this particular location has two levels. It must be a Midwest thing as one of their stores near Chicago has basically the same layout. The family and I had some time to kill before catching a flight and though we would browse through to see if there were any deals to be had. There a plenty of differences between the California and Midwest Dick's, primarily their hunting department. While CA basically has none to speak of, this location has a section dedicated to it specifically. There are rows upon rows of guns if that is your thing. Along with the guns, their hunting gear is unsurpassed. While all Dick's focus on outdoor activities, this place takes it to a different level. There are items for camping, kayaking and back yard fun to name a few. I didn't realize that kayaking was so popular as the had a number of kayaks to choose from and in every color imaginable. Of course, being a baseball family, we migrated to the baseball section. Some of the items seemed more reasonably priced that what I was used to seeing. The one thing I noticed however is that their baseball shoe selection wasn't all that grand. We were looking for steel cleats but could not find any. Not sure if we overlooked that section or not, but we couldn't find it. Not knowing the area very well, this store can be a little confusing to find but alas we were able to and we enjoyed our shopping experience. read more

I went out of my way to visit this location as it's nowhere close to the closest one to my home. Upon inspection the item wasn't available in the size I required. I asked an employee for help and she was unable to locate the item as well. She explained that this type of issue was a prevalent one at Dick's - especially in the shoe department. Unlike the Dick's over in Roseville, this one carries yoga gear! Hurray! I cruise over to the yoga section and browse the clearance section for ALO, Hardtail, and Prana. I've picked up a few sports bras in here that made my visit to Dick's worthwhile. This store is huge and I like the fact that I never feel claustrophobic in here even if it's Black Friday. At the bottom, there's running, yoga, and golf. Ride the escalator up, and they have gear for camping and snowboarding. I had one weird experience in here though where I was about to walk out the front door empty handed and the dude at the front of the store said, "What DIDN'T you find here young lady?" I told him I came in to look for a specific sports bra where he directed me to a customer service person that was essentially worthless. (The guy looked on their web site which was something I could have done myself.) All in all, I thought this interaction seemed weird and pushy as if they were trying too hard to make a sale. I am so frustrated with bike repair service at Dicks Sporting I am considering a Better Business Complaint. I bought a bike for myself and my son with the 2yr warranty that included repairs there, as well as annual tune ups. Each time it has taken more than a month, usually 2, to get it back! This current repair needed to use the warranty, we offered paperwork, we were told it wasn't necessary. It has been over 2 months going on 3! Repeated calls by me and my son. Sometimes we were told it is done, only to go and find it hadn't been touched. Then they were waiting for approval on ordering parts, when it is all under warranty. Then getting them the warranty info they refused and another 3 wks to fix the bike. It is the middle of winter right now. Seriously! Worst system ever. read more

Completely unprofessional management. I heard the manager say to an employee he was going to tackle another customer that was in line with me. Actually said he was going to tackle the person. Then proceeded to tell another employee he was going to call the police. This is all happening while the poor person was being rang up. The cashier was clearly embarrassed and was trying her best to be nice to the customer. It looked like the customer was going to cry hearing the awful things the men at the door were saying. I will Never shop at this store again. I have never seen people so disrespectful to someone for no reason other than they are different. I was completely offended by the remarks made. Was just there and they are having a clearance tent sale. Found a decent pair of soccer cleats that might work for my teen for around $20.00. Since my daughter wasn't with me I decided it would be worth buying them even if for just a back up pair. Found some other items, went up to the register. After they scanned the cleats the cashier announced they "cant sell them because they haven't been released". It required two more sales people to clear the register I asked for another explanation and was given "they can't sell these". They were obviously marked with a Dicks sticker and among the other clearance shoes. I've worked in retail 10 plus years, this make no sense to me. Very rude cashier and manager. We quickly found the goggles area and Brian quickly came over to assist us He picked out the proper size for her and even went so far to fit them on her! You don't find that service very often. Half the staff in the store is in the men's side talking and doing NOTHING, while several customers in the women's side are waiting for help. Had to actually go and find a manager so that he could get us help. Then when they gave us our first choice they just disappeared again, so inevitably when I needed a different size we had to go track down the guy again. I was verbally assaulted by a rude employee at the check out and will never shop there again. He was demeaning, condescending, and seemed like he was about to punch me in the face for letting me know I was displeased that he ignored me and helped the man who pushed past me to get help first. There was one person working and about 10 people in line behind me, he looked at me and said 'I'll help the next person in line'. I started walking towards him and the man directly behind me elbowed me out of the way and pushed past and this employee started helping him as tho I was invisible. I advised him how 'next in line' should have had some merit and he started yelling at me that he couldn't control the actions of other people and started name calling. It was the most absurd behavior I have ever witnessed in a store and I was as dumbfounded and disappointed as the witnesses around me. Came to the store, went up to a Hunting section waited for 10 minutes, not one person showed up, in fact i haven't seen anyone on the second floor. This was literally an hour ago at exactly noon.
