This store has everything and a decent selection of each type of item. Could do much worse when it comes to a grocery store.

I have been shopping at the Schnucks Butler Hill location for decades and have never seen the quality of the store deteriorate to such a level. On Monday, 5/6/2024, at 4:30 p.m., I visited your store to buy some fried chicken from your deli and other items. The experience was far from satisfactory. Your deli counter was understaffed, and the two people who were there were visibly struggling. The woman was in such obvious pain that she was holding onto the prep table to stay upright, and the man was sweating profusely over the food he was handling. This not only compromised the quality of the food but also left a lasting negative impression on me. Staffing issues aside, the chicken you were trying to sell was undersized and looked to be hours old. In addition, your fresh produce, in particular the iceberg lettuce, appeared wilted and awful. I mentioned this to your associate in the area and all I got was a shrug and a statement that it was all they had. A store that values quality would not put such produce out, or serve chicken of that state. Disheartened by the state of affairs at Schnucks, I made the decision to leave and travel to Dierbergs to meet my needs. The contrast in the quality of service and products was stark, further reinforcing my dissatisfaction with Schnucks. I am a Schnucks savings member but will significantly curtail my fresh food purchases from your establishment until you address these issues. read more

This Schnucks has to have the absolute worst deli counter in the entire Schnucks chain. It's ridiculous to have to spend 35 minutes at this counter. read more

Terrible. Friendliest my butt. They have the rudest checker in town. Every time I have tried them. they are rude I would rather use ALDI or dierbergs. Time to bump up my review to four stars. This is a pretty darn good store. I always find what I need. They typically have enough check out lanes open, which is a big plus in my book. I find the deli, bakery, produce, meat department, and customer service desk consistently helpful! I have a different pharmacy though. One drawback I see here is that their pharmacy space is a bit cramped and spills over into the cheese, toilet paper, and laundry detergent aisles. Quite often you have to navigate around grouchy sick people - bless them. There are other Schnucks locations more modern, which keeps me from going to five stars. If they do an upgrade, they'll get a high five from me. read more

Everything is priced at $x.99 to swindle at maximum. How much is a can of cat food at 20/$13? Dunno. Never mind I was at the top of my calculus class. I just want to know what a can costs? Show me the derelict that is doing this and I will punch them as hard as I can. They would never show their face. Why do business with those kinds of deceptive swindlers? Also, mentally /physically handicapped baggers are probably subsidized by US to fumble your very high priced groceries into bags at minimum speed while carrying on a dumb discussion with coworkers. Walmart does not price everything x.99, 3 for $5 with repeating decimal price, etc. Handicapped parking does not make buying "french toast" ingredients easy for the handicapped. 24/hours! Always clean. Friendliness that's hard to find with people who will remember who you are every time. I use to come here in the middle of the night all the time. This schnucks is closest to my house so I go here all the time because I have too. Schnucks is so expensive I prefer Aldis. I have a one year old son who love the carts with wheels, but nobody puts them inside in the store. They're always outside and they're sooo hot! Schnucks doesn't have a lot of employees working either. I'm from Texas and the grocery stores there are a lot better with 30 employees and much cheaper! read more

Pro: Clean store, was very friendly service, had a reasonable amount of breakfast foods available in bakery every morning but first come first serve and they would run out. Had a good deal of fresh items to choose from around the cheese counter. Pro : post CV-19 while some people are still reasonably friendly (con):others respond to your presence like you are ready to explode so don't think about apposing anyone (call from a distance). They are sanitary- (con) however it's sickening to see hordes of persons acting like Howie Mandel suited up and "cleaning " EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE. Only 1 maybe 2 times was there not an excess of masked, gloved, "cleaners" in every part of the store. Example, Entrance (counting), carts (cleaner), round the corner Produce (cleaner), couple isles over (cleaner), back near meat (cleaner), frozen foods (cleaner), ect ectra checkout (guard & cleaners), carts (clean), exit (counter). I have not seen black plague, ebola, or any other bleeding out , death in the streets, or any sign of the end of health as we know it. NOT EVEN a cold or flue anywhere near here from anyone. This is too much and I'd rather drive to a small town to get normal people than deal with this when i want to pick up some cheese, bread, milk, or some food. It's sick, like a mental illness equivalent to Howie. I feel sorry for people but this created bottle necks making people get closer for shutting so much down so if there was an issue then you literally counter the preventative measures that are enacted. When it hurts to walk, you make more problems for people that have trouble getting around so smoothly. CON: Pre: CV-19 - ground beef has been getting more and more brown in the middle while the outside makes it look fresh, Meat counter LIED TO MY FACE telling me it's brown because it was NOT exposed to air. No the ground beef turns brown after its been out long enough. Anyone could look it up. Prices are higher than Arnold CON: Post CV-19 scare, PUSHING people to mask it up, bakery is closed and will only sell packaged foods, in what ever amounts they package. Had a security person standing to ENFORCE distancing and CORRECT behavior no matter if anyone cared or not. If you have issues walking too bad they have a predetermined line to make you walk through. Starting by making you enter one side of the store, enter check out a certain way, and exit the opposite side of the store while they people count. Prices are still higher than in Arnold. This is but one step away from Forced tests, forced vacc's, temperature takers, pass papers to shop, or food rations papers to get items. This is very close to Germany where a lot of innocent people did not survive if you didn't agree with the SS. read more

I used to love this store, the employees are great and it's clean, but one of the Managers (Kathy) was very rude when I asked her for help. She ignored my request when I called her 3 times while nobody else was in the isle. Finally, she looked at me and asked how she an help me and i asked her to see if they have more of the product i wanted. She told me to wait for a minute and she left and never came back. I felt completely ignored and not cared about, I wish the schnucks motto was put into action rather than just talk. read more
