I'm giving this Schnucks 5 Stars, simply because they had what i needed and wanted. One of my main Christmas gifts was a bottle of Rye from the local distillery, Switchgrass. Living in Illinois now, Switchgrass is not available. It is not distributed there yet. Hope they come soon. Any how, the liquor department at this store was impressive. They had plenty of the Switchgrass offering and had the Rye, that I wanted so badly. I went into this schnucks simply looking for a quick snack before I had to get back to classes. I was expecting a quick burrito or salad, then the variety of restaurants to the right of the grocery palace caught my eye immediately. I was intrigued by the smell and how clean the seating areas looked for a diner inside a grocery store. I started walking down the indoor restaurant village, and what I found was Burger+Bites. I grazed the menu out and found what I get at every place that serves it. The sight of bell peppers and salsa on the menu item "Chicken quesadilla" captured me. I walked up to the counter knowing my fate. The sir behind the register said "She'll be right with you" and by the looks of the seasoned grill I knew this quesadilla would be my destiny. A woman with a nametag Barb, who was stocking the cheeses from a different aisle had walked behind the counter and said "Hi what can I get for you". I said my order with determination. She replied "Alright that will take five minutes". She took my money and got to work. She was right, it did take 5 minutes. As I was checking in on Yelp, she said "Anything else for you?" I suggested a water cup which was given immediately. And instead of eating in the car like usual, I had decided to take advantage of the empty seating of an empty grocery store. It was 11:00 AM on a Tuesday, and I sat my as$ down to house ts DOWN. I opened the box to find a packet of sour cream and salsa. Under the paper was one of Gods greatest creations. The quesadilla. I picked one huge 4th of it up, dunked it in some sour cream and salsa, and, well, something had awakened in me. This was the best thing I ever had to eat. Knowing I was short on time to eat this, I gulped down the meal in 10 minutes, leaving one fourth of it left. Bystanders were appalled, while Barb went back to stocking cheeses. This was the moment I realized I would be a regular at Burger+Bites. Anyway that was a joke of a short story but this quesadilla was actually good yall. Im sure Barb is a hard worker and she deserves the best. Also, I do most of my reviews in the car and I HATE it. The smell will linger for days and I hate getting out to throw shi+ away. Literally avoid this store at all costs. Not only is it dirty but they literally never have staff. The service center is rarely open and you will hear, "We aren't doing they right now". I am so saddened by the recent and frequent treatment of African-Americans with this store. As recent as today, a young lady was shopping for formula for her baby in the self check out line. She was rudely and loudly told "you can't use WIC over here!!!" not that it matters, but she is a fellow Nurse and friend of mine. She does not use WIC. She was stereotyped. To Susan, the cashier, you completely embarrassed & disrespected a New Mother without regard . The manager Reggie on staff showed genuine concern. But due to the lack of care & excuses provided in the response of the Manager Chris, I deemed it highly possible that this behavior is tolerated and will be repeated. This is my Schnucks and my pharmacy. It's a good store but I have literally been talking to tthe staff and management about what looks to be urine soaked chairs in the pharmacy area. It's been like that as long as I've been filling my scripts here more than 6 months. The pharmacists have told me they complained and I have personally spoke to staff and even a manager multiple times. One of the employees told me it's been like that for way longer than 6 months. I will no longer patronize Schnucks-Brentwood. I went in to purchase baby formula and proceeded to self-checkout. The employee overseeing the self-checkout area immediately says to me, without pause, "We don't take WIC over here" with the nastiest tone and before you ask, yes she was. I snapped back and said "I don't have WIC!" (I may or may not have used some expletives). She gave a half-hearted apology but I made sure I reported her statement to the manager. I'm willing to bet every dime I have that she only said that to me because I'm black because what other reason would she assume I was using WIC to purchase baby formula? Does she make that statement to every single customer who comes to self-checkout with formula? I seriously doubt it. But that's not the only issue, if I did have WIC, the nastiness in her tone was quite demeaning and embarrassing. read more

Since moving to this area, Schnucks has been my go-to grocery store. First it was always the one on Clayton Rd while I lived in that area and since moving to Brentwood, I always come here. For my pharmacy needs, I still drive up to the one on Clayton Rd. Anyway, I generally stop by several times a week to do equally big and small grocery shopping trips and have always found what I needed. There were a couple of times when I would look for something and can't ever find it in which case, I figured they just don't carry the product altogether. I love going to the fresh meats department and would usually get some of their seasoned chicken, steak, fish and shrimp. The guys at the counter are always really helpful and in my case, they have a lot of patience. I generally would go to the already packaged section when buying a steak and my main complaint is that there doesn't seem to be so many great selection when it comes to their ribeyes. I ended up getting Porterhouses several times when I really wanted a nice cut of ribeye because they only had a couple on the shelf and they looked pretty sad and thin. They have a huge selection of wine, not to mention there is Winesday on Wednesdays! You get some percentage off by buying 6 bottles of wine. I don't remember how much you save though since I have only taken advantage of this opportunity once. Also, if you are into beer and liquor, they have a wide variety of options to choose from. I like going to this store in general. The staff have always been friendly and helpful and I haven't encountered any issues with the store. read more

I love this grocery store. I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about. The store its always stocked and clean. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I've had above and beyond customer service in the deli department, with the cashiers & the liquor department. The deli has offered to make me a special rotisserie bird. The cashiers always remember my family. My daughter loves Breanna. Sal, in the wine department, always helps us make a good decision. If you want to know what a Schnucks looked like 30 years ago, go here. It really is run-down especially when you compare it to the Schnucks or Dierbergs in Warson Woods or even the Shop n Save in Maplewood. I do frequent this Shnucks the most though. It's right by my house and conveniently at a corner that I drive by every day (Brentwood and Manchester). However, if you want good selection, a nice deli, a well stocked bakery or any of the other features the newer locations have don't go here. I had to go here while visiting my parents. I couldn't understand why my parents drive 15 minutes to another store when this place is only 5 minutes away. Well, I figured it out. The groceries here cost more than they do in my Chicago suburb! This is your basic grocery store with nothing fancy. There were lots of employees around. I think they were supposed to be stocking the shelves, but they seemed to be just standing around and talking and getting in the way of what I wanted. Today, I wanted to buy fried chicken to take home for dinner (5:30 PM), and, after waiting for 10 minutes, was told they would have to fry it. This Schnucks in particular gets a bad review from me because not only is it expensive (on par with Schnucks in general, this isn't an issue that is store specific), but it's run down to boot. When I moved in, I, of course, had no groceries and needed to get some in order to eat. Imagine how pleased I was that there was a grocery store right up the street and that I could walk there if I wanted. The joy was short lived. A dumpy Schnuck's greeted me, in all of its glory. Yeah, there's the adage of 'not judging a book by its cover' but seriously, I've seen nicer grocery stores on the south side of Chicago and they're not located in as nice of a neighborhood as this Schnucks. After seeing they wanted me to pay an arm and a leg for bell peppers, I knew it was on. I didn't buy as much as I wanted because the produce, milk, and eggs that I ended up getting cost nearly $25...I live by myself, I'm not trying to feed an army! Also, I find the quality of their produce to be lacking. Much of it spoiled quickly--for those prices, I shouldn't need to do anything too special to prevent my fruits and veggies from spoiling. Moral of the story, I drive a bit further and go to the Schnucks at Ladue Crossing. Appearance wise, it blows this one out of the water. Price wise, I'm still be ripped off. There are some things that I just refuse to buy at Target, but surprisingly (sadly?) most things that I want to buy at Schnucks are cheaper at Target and Walmart. read more

As almost everyone has said, this is a poor old little grandpa Schnucks in need of a younger rebirth. With that being said, besides it's crap appearance, I don't mind shopping here. Their beer and wine selection is pretty awesome. I was surprised to see how many micro brews I can find here! The people behind the deli and butcher counter are always very nice and have met some special requests without any hesitation. They also have Boar's Head deli products which are worth the extra dough! Yum! They have beer and food tasting events every now an then that sound fun. I hope to attend the March Irish beer and food tasting. So I will say proudly that this Schnucks is my go to standard grocery store even though it does look pitiful. This is one of the worst schnucks I've ever been in. Better yet, one of the worst grocery stores I've ever been in. First off, the layout makes no sense. Food on both ends of the store separated by cards, diapers, and cleaning supplies in the middle? Why wouldn't it all be together? The store feels cramped due to lack of space, the aisles end right where the checkout lines start. It's difficult to get around. Secondly, does this store sell any bread besides bunny bread? Literally all we could find were some rolls in the schnucks bakery and a couple loves of bunny bread at the end of an aisle. Maybe my level of frustration was heightened because I was in on a Saturday and it happened to be the Saturday before "snowpocalypse" but I'm never going back to this location again. read more

I usually go to the Schnucks on Hampton which is my absolute favorite local grocery store but this Brentwood location is also convenient to my house so I occasionally stop in. The store isn't organized as logically at this location and I feel like people are constantly trying to run me over with their carts trying to get through these narrow aisles. I came here to grab a cake for a work party and I had brought my baby with me. I was loading my baby in the cart when an employee brought in some carts from the parking lot. Instead of waiting for me to get my cart out of the way with my baby or go to the end further away from me she slams the carts into the row right next to me making my baby start crying. I looked over at her to say something but she just turns around and walks off not even apologizing for making my baby cry. This definitely already got me pissed off before I even started through the store. Instead of shopping around I just hurried and grabbed the cake and headed for the self checkout. This place is just like the Brentwood Wal-Mart... unprofessional employees that are more interested in making comments to each other about how bad their job is than acknowledging you as a customer. This is my go to place for grocery shopping since moving to the area. Everyone is very pleasant whenever you have trouble finding something. There's a good assortment of items to meet your needs. There have been very few instances when things have been out of stock. Most recently, I had an issue with their Schnupons app where it wouldn't allow me to sign on, so I couldn't add the $5 off produce coupon that had been advertised. I told the cashier, and he happily helped adjust the total. The only other issue I've had is that the deli sometimes has closed early on the weekend without announcement. Prices have always been reasonable with comparable prices to competitors. High quality produce too! Nonetheless, I'll keep coming back! read more

Do not order online groceries from Schnucks. We ordered groceries and they were mainly wrong. Weight of meat, duplicate items, it was a mess. The service is through a 3rd party and they pick the food out and drop it off. It was a mess and they refused to credit back everything they screwed up on. Watch out! read more

Staffing seems to be an issue- anytime I have been wanting something at the deli there is a long wait and not enough staff. On a busy recent Sunday, there was no one to be found at the meat counter. My husband and I go to this grocery store on a weekly and sometimes daily basis. It is very convenient for us since it is on the way home from both of our jobs. Unfortunately the last time I went I was buying some "fresh" salmon from the fish counter. My experience was not what I had hoped. I got home and noticed the salmon was a little 'off' in color but we decided to make it anyway. The fish smelled horrible. Turns out both pieces we got were spoiled. My husband had to go back up to the store to get our money back. So much for our relaxing evening! Also, this is not the first time we have experienced spoiled of expired food at this location. We have also had produce that has been molded inside when you cut into it. Needless to say, I will be using the Webster Groves location or the new Lucky's Market in Rock Hill more frequently. read more

I've lived in the neighborhood since 1951 and Schnucks was the only store nearby...then in time I changed because of a snit I had ( sorry, I have snits) for a while and I drifted to their competitor, but when I learned of their vegie upgrade , de-snitted, and really enjoy shopping there. I have had problems standing in line a long while ...health issues...but they were so kind supplying a chair, completing my check and otherwise making the moment as comfortable as possible . Now, taking that into consideration, I have a member of the family who does most of the shopping for me, he also prefers Schnucks. Awfully accommodating ! read more

Some people complained that this store is run down. It may not be the newest building, but the people who work there are outstanding. My husband's van wouldn't start today in the parking lot after he'd gone shopping, and he had our 14 month old son with him in nearly 100 degree heat. The ladies at customer service babysat our son while my husband found someone to help him jumpstart the van! I'll take that kind of service over a new building any day. read more
