The store is usually well stocked, but they never have enough cashiers. Today waited in a line 7 people deep. The manager assaulted a customer who switched from the 7 person deep line that I was in to a new lane that she was opening. There was a heated exchange. The manager did not handle the situation well. Several customers became irate over the incident. read more

My boyfriend and I came to this location after going shopping at Whole Foods & within 2 minutes of walking in the store (with bags of food that was already paid for) We were instantly disrespected. We had enough time to grab a $1.39 pack of butter and a pound of bacon. before we reached the food seasoning and the vegetables the store manager asked if we were going to pay for "all" of the food that was in our cart. After asking , she stated that we fit a description of 2 black men with head things (Durag's) that have been stealing out of the st.Louis stores . I know, "Aldi," you say? "Why would she be talking about Aldi?" When I was a kid, I used to hate that my grandmother always bought our cereal from Aldi. It just wasn't the same in those ugly boxes and there were no prizes or games!! Boo! Times have changed though. Aldi, a German owned company, has gotten better about branding and improving upon their private label grocery items. Many of the items are produced by the companies that provide the same items in our favorite stores at a much higher cost. Since Aldi purchased Trader Joe's, the items they stock have improved ten-fold. Their meat and produce aren't the best in town, the fresh produce isn't organic and the variety isn't there, but the price is great and no one can touch their prices. This is the type of place you go to stock up on all of your staples before going cherry picking at a more upscale grocer. Olive oil, baking ingredients, spices, cereal, milk, condiments, shredded cheese, butter, canned goods, hamburger/hot dog buns, etc. You may have to bag your own groceries and they don't have customer service counters, take checks, etc., but you can fill your cart full for under $100. Periodically stopping at Aldi before you go to your favorite grocer will save you a ton of money! Avoid the Grand Avenue location. It is a dump! I prefer, Gravois, Green Park, or Olive. read more

The USDA recommends that you eat 5 servings of fruit and veg a day. At Aldi's prices, I have been eating probably twice that on pineapples alone. Is this healthy? Probably not. But at at $1/pineapple, how can you say no? Along with bulk pineapple purchases, I stock up on $2 Driscoll 1/2 lb strawberries, $2.50 pints of blueberries, and the ever present quarter apples 'n oranges. And another thing, how genius is the quarter for a cart deal? Not only does it keep the parking lot clear of carts, but the world just seems good and right when a person walks towards me with a quarter in their outstretched hand and smiling, says, "I'll take that for you." read more

The worst Aldi in all of Saint Louis. They dont let customers use the bathroom and they only have one check out lane open with 20 people waiting in line. They have 1 security guy who is in charge of making sure nobody uses their bathrooms. I guess none of the employees use the bathroom either because they're all full of shit. read more

This is my neighborhood Aldi, and I love it. They always seem to be pretty well stocked. The only issue I have is the people who go into the parking lot through the exit or out through the entrance, but that's not Aldi's fault. Though, I suppose they could repaint the arrows on the asphalt, but there will always be people who will ignore signs, no matter how obvious you make them. I don't feel the need to write a novel of a review of a grocery store, but I go here a lot. It's pretty great. read more

This is the closest Aldi's to my home, but my least favorite to go for a few reasons... Let's start w/ parking. Although they improved last year by having separate entrance & exits that spit you out onto Gravois Ave, they aren't clearly marked besides an arrow on the ground that people clearly miss. This creates a dangerous environment for drivers, pedestrians, & your carton of eggs that can easily go flying when you suddenly have to stop for a wrong way driver. You paid $0.69 for a dozen eggs, they all should make it home uncracked & safe! Inventory: It's picked over, bruised, sad just like the last picked kid for dodgeball. You feel bad & don't want to make another stop to Schnucks, so you take that dented can home remembering that article that ties dented cans to cancer, but heck, everything these days will give you cancer & you still hold a grudge at Schnucks for the credit card data hacking (circa 2013). Avoid this Aldi's if you're in a rush. It's always busy. On the bright side, the employees are awesome. read more

This is the second time I've shopped at this Aldi's location. The first time, I was too much of a snob and walked out with a handful of stuff. Tonight, I gave it another go because I need to start saving money. I'd rather pick up some generic items and put my savings towards a trip to Mexico. Wow, I'm such a grownup now! Moving on...I find myself very impressed, not only with the selection, but also with the general vibe of the store itself. I know some Yelpers have mentioned the quality of produce can be touch and go, but I must have been on a "go" night. I was able to find some good strawberries for .89 per pound (picked up 2 packages, hell yeah!), .39 per pound bananas (interestingly enough, Aldi had placed an apology sign up for the increase in banana prices...), and a huge bag of Gala apples for 3.50. I'm very picky about my produce, so you better believe I scanned for mold, cuts and bruises before I considered my purchases. Canned goods are generally .20 - .30 cheaper than at the supermarkets. I checked the ingredients to make sure I wasn't buying junk (i.e. high fructose corn syrup laden food & drink) and I am impressed that virtually none of things I picked up fit into the "junk" category. I went an hour before closing time so it wasn't very busy. At one point, one of the other customers wasn't paying attention and was blocking the aisle. I wasn't in any hurry so I politely waited. When he noticed me, he sincerely apologized. Wow! Humanity! I didn't know it existed anymore. The guy at the checkout actually said hello and asked how I was this fine evening. Speechless. Aldi rocks my world. Every time I go, they've got something new. Inexpensive milk, eggs, and staples. Great bread. The meat selection keeps getting better as well. Try the Lime pineapple frozen fruit bars. Critical for the hot summers. And I agree with Kelly. The Grand location, though much closer to my house, is a dump. The employees are nice enough, but the customers trash the place. Avoid it. read more

Cheapest produce around! .39 cent avocados about every 3-4 weeks are what keep me going. Remember that they operate their sale papers from Sunday to Saturday whereas most store go Wednesday to Tuesday. We also get our milk here as it is about .60 cents to a dollar cheaper. Remember to bring your own bags and a quarter to rent a shopping cart. read more

Very nice Aldi location with a great selection, clean store, and more. Definitely agree with others - go here instead of the store on Grand. It's not far away, it carries better stock, and is much nicer and cleaner. Aldi is definitely the place to pick up all your staples for the house, and any canned or other generic type goods you want. I've been very impressed with the 99 cent strawberries and blueberries - they turn over so quickly that they're really quite fresh. Really the only thing you can go wrong with is the meat - it looks pretty dodgy. read more

3 stars...A-OK. This isn't the biggest Aldi location, and it may not have the largest selection, but it does offer a lot of products in the size of the store available. They may not have everything you want / need, but you can save a lot of money on many staples by shopping here. I do find I still need to shop at other stores for many items, but this is a good way to save some cash. They have periodic great sale prices on items, so keep an eye out! read more

this is my 1st visit to this location, since it's previous yelp reviews and it's suppose to be the less-ghetto one closest to our home. so i went this AM in search of sustenance and re-stocking our fridge after the holidays. and thank goodness, i finally went here: i'll be coming back armed with at least 1 quarter (to retrieve a shopping cart in the front) and more shopping bags. this location is quite different from the others Aldi stores i've visited stateside. this one reminds me of the ones i visited while in Germany: it's not too big, but big enough; it's clean and doesn't have a smell of rotting produce in the air; and the staff are friendly and courteous (the cashier asked me, "did you find everything okay?" who asks THAT at a discount store??). plus, today i was able to find a 5 lb. bag of yukon potatoes for only 99 cents! and they weren't pre-moldy! ADVICE: i admit, some items are not necessarily cheaper than the local Walmart or Schnucks, but Aldi DOES try to be competitive; in any case, the consumer must be aware of his/her own buying. secondly, today's morning trip to Aldi was apparently a busy time for the store: there were 10+ customers in-line and only 1 cashier working. thankfully, someone from the office came out and opened another cashier line. but i'm still an avid Aldi fan, despite this. for example, this location's produce section had vine ripe tomatoes for cheap (not mushy but bright red and firm). if this location continues to impress me, i might fall in-love with Aldi again. read more

Chips and salsa, potato chips, crackers, all of the chocolate, Winking Owl $2.99 Cabernet and Pinot Grigio good, pickles, olives, salad dressings, jellies, p.b., milk, eggs, cream cheese, cheese, Romaine lettuce, yogurt, OJ all good. Bread dept. great, ice cream great (try the drumsticks!) battered chicken breasts in bag awesome. Spiral cut ham for Easter...great. Deli roast beef good, all Mexican style foods great, frozen veggies and pies etc good. There is a box of pork filet mignons, 4 pack, bacon wrapped surprisingly great on the grill! Pasta sauces, pasta good. Cookies good. Love this place. They are part of the Trader Joes company, so the way I look at it, T.Joes has no name brands too, and no one sees a problem with that. We are used to Aldis from Germany. This is the store we go to before running to Target or Schnucks. They got a great selection and their cashiers are traines to be quick. The prices are low and their fresh meat and fruit is great. Never had an issue with beef that's already brown in the middle like at Schnucks. They also have weeklu specials where we were lucky to find some yard reclining chairs last year that still hold up great this year! read more

I love this aldi. The workers are friendly and hardworking. They remember me, my husband, and our kids. I love their selection of products. One of our children is allergic to a plethora of different things, but I am able to find options here that she can enjoy with her siblings.
