You can never go wrong with Schlotzsky's, unless the service sucks and the restaurant is unclean of course. Not to worry, this location has neither of those issues. From a spotless dining area, to a super friendly manager, and a kick butt Original Sandwich this place hit all the right marks on a road trip filled with disappointing restaurants. This used to be my favorite fast food option, but it's significantly dropped in quality recently. I sent the following message to management a week ago and received no response: "I have had three really disappointing experiences at this location recently but I'm reaching out today as I think my most recent visit will be my last unless something changes. I ordered a pizza that after one bite was obviously completely undercooked and doughy in the middle. I returned to the location to return the pizza and request a replacement. The replacement I got was similarly undercooked. I usually love Schlotzsky's pizzas because of the thick sourdough crust, and am upset that even after requesting a replacement the result was not only unsatisfactory (so completely flat and greasy it fell apart when I picked up a slice) but inedible for health safety reasons. When the food is good, it's a good value. However I'm now inconvenienced and out $11 on an inedible pizza and a flat soda. I had to make alternative arrangements for dinner even after my second visit to this location to get a product of acceptable quality. If there were zero stars, even that would be too many. An elderly couple as the only customers in the building were handed the buzzer then left ignored until one had to get up to ask one of the several workers where the food was. Several employees standing around throughout the deli and not one knew the order was even placed! The guy who took the order went back to the register and pushed a few buttons and laughed, no paper in the register. Had the smokey chicken cheddar on sour dough. Awesome! I had ranch on it instead of the usual. I miss living in Texas and enjoying these sandwiches on a regular basis. Food was pretty quick and was hot and ready. Only issue was the lack of seating for being so close to a University. read more

Very nice location in Waco located just off of the northbound side of I-35. The design was nice and the staff was friendly. As fancy as they have gotten with their choices of entrees, I find it hard to beat their original, so that is my typical go to. Been cumming on back and forth to this shlotzsky's time and time again!!! I can easily say it makes me happy/relieved to have a sandwhich shop that is this reliable. I'm always in a better mood when the coworkers decided they're fine with eating at shlotzsky's. The only thing that would make it better is that they didn't judge me when I treat myself to a pan of cina-bun, but the world is not fair and I've come to accept that fact. This is a staple in my diet when traveling through Waco. If you're tired of all the claim to be famous BBQ joints and dried out brisket, come on in and give yourself a shot at a nice light refreshing sandwhich. I'd back this place against all others. Whoever the lady was closing on 10/20 around 7-8 pm was extremely rude. I ran in to use the restroom (I am 8 months pregnant, so bladder pressure/bathroom trips are inevitable) and the lady worker poked her head in the bathroom door and saw that I was in one of the stalls. Then yelled and complained to her other staff members that someone was in the bathroom and that "all their hard work was wasted" bc I was in there. Embarrassed, I obviously scurried out of there without ordering anything. I also had no idea what time they were closing. Very interesting to see the google review that was left is not public... The broccoli cheddar soup was very salty and they did not even have the soup that was ordered. The lady in the front was very rude when I had arrived when she told me they did not have the soup I ordered. The sandwich had very little toppings and was probably one of the worst I have had. Do not go through the drive thru unless you like surprises. Let me describe two situations for you. 1. First time through the drive thru my fiance orders an Original combo with a Dr. Pepper. He ends up getting an Angus beef sandwich and no Dr. Pepper 2. Second (and now last) time through the drive thru my fiance orders an Original sandwich medium sized and gets a small size. Clean environment, good location. decent crowd at 7 pm, was on my way through back to Dallas. they also have a cinnabon in the place so dessert is available. Sandwich was good, had this jalapeno bread which I though the texture was very cool, hadn't tried anything quite like it yet. Usually good but tonight I had rude customer service and whoever makes the sandwich's and does food prep needs some retraining. Most of the time my sandwich is cut in half, not one third/two third. And for the vegetables not a big fan of tomatoes especially when you get the very bottom of one and the skin on it is so wrinkled it looks like it was a few days old. Be careful drive thru people, the next time you just throw my food to me don't be surprised if it gets thrown back at you. Maybe the next time I'm there and if I see the owner I guess I'll let him know he needs to start checking up on his weekend staff more. read more

I'm very disappointed in the poor customer service I received today. I went through the drive-thru, it wasn't busy, and the lady at the window did not greet me or smile. She announced my total after making me sit outside the closed window for several minutes and then shoved her hand in my face to give back my change. Slow service I can work with, as I know the quality of the product is excellent, but rude and unfriendly staff are not acceptable.
