I haven't seen a Schlotzsky's in 15 yrs. We booked a hotel in Santa Fe and as luck would have it, this place was across the street. I ordered the only sandwich I've ever ordered from there, the turkey original, and it was exactly the same as they always were in my experience. This isn't your typical layout and decor as most Schlotzsky's, but who cares? The whole family enjoyed their meal and the staff were friendly. At about 6pm on Friday, March 7th I went to Schlotzsky's in Santa Fe. I have eaten here 3 times previously and it was a delicious meal. Tonight I found a long hair in my small deluxe sandwich. It was so bundled up and thoroughly inside the sandwich that it seemed almost as if placed there. I told myself that was a ridiculous thought, and that it is entirely possible for a stray hair to land in a meal. I knew it wasn't mine due to how embedded in the sandwich, the length of it and how tangled up it was. It was so tangled it didn't appear to have fallen in off of a persons scalp. I have a really tough stomach and so I looked over my sandwich, and satisfied that it was ok, I finished my meal. Though, I'll admit, I struggled a bit with, but I'd paid $22 for my meal and a Cinnabon , and I was starving as I had not eaten since 8am. I had gotten a Cinnabon roll for dessert. I cut into the roll as I brought the piece to my mouth I saw a piece of plastic in the icing. I thought at first it was the straw wrapper. I looked closer and saw it was a piece of plastic wrap. At that instant the hair seemed less innocent. Had a child eaten that roll they could have choked. I bought a sandwich from this same location two weeks ago that I DID take to my daughter and grandson. This is unacceptable, it is abject carelessness, and it is dangerous. This Schlotzsky's is super old school, as it's in what used to be an old Duncan Donuts or Denny's I think. It's definitely not what you would expect. The employees were still great, and took the time to figure out how to key the 10% Yelp check in discount code I received even though they had never heard of it. The ham and cheese sandwich on sourdough was kickin' of course but the torn seats in the booths, the bathroom and the windows in the dining area which started to leak at the base when it rained could use some work. read more

I used to love Schlotzsky's. I MEAN LOVE this place. Unfortunately, love fades just like an old sandwiches sitting in the sun. It used to be such a big deal to go and grab a bunch of sandwiches and go to the lake or up to the lookout and "picnic" in the trees and enjoy the day. Now that they've made their money saving changes( lost a sandwich or two from the menu, and reduced the sizes) things aren't that great anymore.It almost feels like they've lost their passion for amazing sandwiches!( Remember how awesome Muchos used to be?) The quality seems to be affected as well. I understand the shi*** economy requires cut backs( amount of meat and salad in a sandwich) but does it have to change the taste and atmosphere as well? It's like going into a mausoleum now. It's not a horrible eating experience, but it's not great like it used to be.Im still a fan, but I'll be watching and waiting for things to get better, and for the Reuben to return. Had no idea this was a chain, and my friend and I had already eaten a delicious breakfast at the Pantry a few hours earlier so were looking for something a bit lighter. The girl at the register could not have been ANY LESS interested to help us, to serve us, to be alive at that current moment. Yikes. Their menu is a bit intense and overdone, and whenever we asked for additional details on one of the sandwiches, she pulled out a written menu and just pushed it toward us. This happened twice, as their menu is that expansive and crazy. It was a bit insane to us. She got a soup/half sandwich and I got a salad/half sandwich. I got nice, dirty utensils that were laden with some sticky goo. My order was a bit delayed compared to other people who had ordered after me, but was fine. They use crappy turkey, but I thought my salad was pretty good. This place reminds me of the funky Schlotzsky's restaurants all over Austin! The Original is the most popular, but I'm a sucker for gourmet pizzas on fresh baked pizza dough. BBQ chicken jalapeño pizza, bag of their own brand Cracked Pepper potato chips and a Minibon (smaller version of Cinnabon) to satisfy that sweet tooth! Buyer beware. The cost has gone up and that would be fine if you were getting value for your money. But when your order is mostly lettuce and you don't get what you paid for is that fair. The sandwich I order came with one piece of turkey and no avocado which is what the sandwich description included. What I received instead was a ton of lettuce. I'm a lover of Schlotsky's from Year 1 with the original location in ATX. Over the years I tend to get the same Original sandwich, chips, & tea. I have never been more disappointed than this visit. Not only was there chaos with my simple order, chaos in the kitchen and chaos at the drive through window, the sandwich was horrible. I LOVE Schlotsky's. Have since 1981 when I tasted my very first original with a friend somewhere near Dallas Tx. When they finally made it to Salt Lake City I was thrilled and introduced it to all my friends. One friend stated. "It's like a flavor explosion in your mouth!" I would have to agree with that! The crust unless to the bread the melted cheese... Love it! I recently discovered that there is still one in Memphis about 25 miles from where I live now. I introduced it to my mom and now she is a huge fan. I don't get to go often but I'm so thankful there is still one around. One complaint related only to my most recent visit... Corned Beef on Jalapeño Cheese Bread is not the same as a "Reuben". It's a good thing I love Reuben's too or else I would have been upset. We didn't have time to wait for another sandwich. The only reason you don't score 5 stars is because your jalapeño cheese bread isn't as jalapeño-y as it once was and you need coke zero. I know this is a chain, but it's locally owned and operated, and really; you can't deny that every once in a while, you'll be driving by this place and think, "Hmmmm... I could totally eat an entire large original right now." It's like the McDonald's Egg mcMuffin, sometimes the worst food available is the only thing that will sate your hunger. The drive-in is more like a sit-in, the service can be surly, and the clientel might have the shape of E.T. the Extra Terresterial, but sometimes you just have to lower yourself to eat the comfort foods. read more

The drinks your big, and the Cinnabon's are delicious.I normally get the Albuquerque Turkey but I like to have a different bread than the jalapeno bread that comes with the sandwich. I get it COVID-19 is making life difficult on everyone, especially small businesses, I'm sure this owner has more than their fair share of their life's resources tied up in this business but I have given this Schlotzsky's chances to adapt but yet they insist on being rude. The first time was a few days after the shut down was implemented and everyone was trying to figure out the new normal. Walked in to pick up an app order only to be ignored for close to 15 minutes and was told I had to go through the drive-thru only to be told, after another long wait, that they had not received my app order even though my phone said otherwise. Second encounter was a day ago, sat at the Drive-thru speaker for another long long time. I even said to the speaker a couple of times, "are you open?" Finally gave up and drove to the window where I was rudely told that I was supposed to order at the speaker and "if she had to" she would take my order at the window. Decent food but not worth the anger coming from the workers. A complaint to the corporate office has gone unanswered. Good luck to you guy, You're gonna need it. If there was a way to give them 0 out of 5 stars I would, my boyfriend's sandwich was correct and mine wasn't. The soda machine was broken, only producing diet sodas, which wasn't a problem but they didn't tell us before we ordered drinks. We lucked out by arriving when we did because by the time we got our food, they had a line out the door. People were not even able to order because of the understaff issue and the fact that someone needed to fix the soda machine. Staff from kitchen would come out with gloves and touch everything and go right back inside the kitchen. Restroom didn't have a toilet seat. This location has been crossed of my list. read more

Well it was brought to my attention a few weeks back that This location was doing away with the Rye Bread.... I was like WHAT!!!! That's the only reason why I come here is to purchase an original on Rye, that's my favorite sandwich!! So tonight I came in and ordered an original with extra mayo and talked to the cash register guy knowing that there was no rye on the menu... and mentioned to him why they were discontinuing the rye.... He looked at me in disbelief and said to me that rye bread was still on the menu and that whoever told me that didn't know what he or she was talking about!!Schlotzskys make their own bread and every now and than they run low on products that makes their rye bread! That's good news to my ears... Now back to the Schlotzskys... I kinda feel corporate has taken control of this location... Everything from the Chips to the Sauces cinnamon rolls has a cooperate feel to it which doesn't set well in my eyes given that I like supporting as much local business as I can but I've always enjoyed eating here! Service is great sandwiches are always consistent! I do however wish they used a different turkey in their sandwiches... I'm not a fan it sorta taste like cheap turkey that you would buy at Wal- Mart! I online ordered (and prepaid for!) two Cinnabons, (which is the only edge this place has) two simple half sandwiches, one with a side salad and the other with the loaded baked potato soup, I'll start with the soup. instead of crumbled crunchy bacon there were two sad full length soggy bacon strips atop a soup cup which was less than average, the salad was pretty good, besides there being no croutons or dressing, the sandwiches were alright but they gave them to us switched so I ate the wrong one, and lastly upon arrival they informed me they were out of the regular Cinnabons but had mini Cinnabons.. neither of which i received in my order. Now that I see my bank statement it shows they did 7 separate transactions for this.... That is unacceptable! I'm most upset about being ripped off the $7 for the Cinnabons!! read more

My family and I have been going there for a long time till they got a new manager. Since then the restaurant has been going down hill. For the exception of an employee named Becky the service is horrible. The restaurant looks so dirty inside and the drive though is the slowest in town. The food is still good but it looks a lot more sloppy now. The old manager was a lot more helpful and the service ran a lot more smoother. I would go back a lot more if the old manager would take over again. read more

Started to place my order at the drive thru when the guy taking my order cut me off and launched into his apparently millionth spill about what forty other items I might want to order, with about as much enthusiasm as a door stop. When he finished I finally finished my order by telling him I didn't want anything else and didn't want onions on my sandwich. At that point he failed to shut his mic immediately and I heard him say "he's a real asshole", before he shut it off. It's possible he could have been having his own conversation with someone else, but I have to assume it was directed at me. I was not discourteous to him I tried to speak loudly and clearly cause I know they sometimes have trouble hearing and find his attitude deplorable whether his comments were directed at me or not. I eat at this shop regularly and service generally seems ok, till now. I think Schlotzsky's is one of the best sandwiches out there but, thanks to rudeness and attitude of this employee I will no longer be a customer of this shop.
