Patatas bravas with a wonderful aioli.

As the boyfriend said, "they took care of us in every way possible." Drink list and menu are plentiful and good prices all around. We stopped in for a drink and stayed for the fun (mostly 80s) music and food. Their beer and wine list was varied with a decent offering. I was able to get a Hoegaarden, which is one of my favorite Belgian beers. My boyfriend had a wonderfully eclectic red blend wine. I had a Caesar salad (I have mostly had bread and ham while in Spain - vegetables haven't been aplenty) and the patatas bravas. Both were very good, but especially the patatas, with their aoli. My boyfriend went with comfort food: a hamburger. Everything was delish. The venue was more than half empty, but it was a Monday night, so I'm not sure if that's the norm. As I noted before, I just loved the music. It was lively and just a bit different from our other Barcelona restaurant experiences.

Schilling is a charming little bar café situated in the heart of Gothic Quarter, off one of the little streets connected to the famous Las Ramblas. The music selection here is perfect -- when I study, I usually drown out the playlist of choice with my own set of headphones but the indies and funky acoustic pop music styles here were perfect for keeping me alert and setting the mood. The place only gets 4 stars instead of 5 though because of the janky wifi that kept disconnecting me. I ended up having to go without it and study offline. I can't comment much on the food quality, but the menu looks to be that of an authentic Spanish shop. I had the cappuccino which was warm, frothy, and excellent for providing me my much needed caffeine. It wasn't too busy in the day time, making it ideal for studying or for a quiet little lunch but I can imagine that it gets pretty rowdy at night, according to the other reviews on the nightlife here.

Good stop and right by our hotel! We got a couple of tapas to share. We got the bread with tomato paste which was pretty tasty and we also got the cheese plate. It had 4 different kinds of cheese. We also got the croquettes which were delicious and onion rings. The sauce was excellent! Overall, a good stop.

Nice quiet little wine bar right on Ferran. We went here a couple times during our trip. Good place to start the night or just to stay put. Get a east in the back for quiet and privacy, or sit by a window and watch the street for some entertainment.

Great dark atmosphere. Pleasant crowd & superb staff. Ceiling fans & air con!! They let us bring our gelato in from next door with no hassle. Made us White Russians which was off the menu. This place rocks!!

Situated on a central street in Bari Gotic, this restaurant has great ambiance, starting with dim lighting and the wine bottles lining all the walls. Staff is friendly and service is fast, even on a Saturday night. We only had drinks here, but the experience was pleasant. I enjoyed the house Rioja in a short and wide glass. They have a few types of cava, including one with chocolate (which could have been more bubbly). Nice place to grab a night cap and still be in the middle of it all.

This is a clean place in a very touristy area. The food is ok but a bit expensive. I had the fries, which were very mediocre. It is dark and relatively quiet (some relatively unobtrusive music in the background, but some other reviews remark that it might be louder at other times). If you want a place with free wifi where you can sit and watch people walk by the windows or relax for awhile, this is ok for a few beers. But if you want dinner, it is probably worth exploring further. (while watching your wallet in this neighborhood)

It was alright. Food was average and so was the wait staff. Fine for a quick food and drink. Cool atmosphere if sitting by the window.

Like most of the restaurants in this city it has charm. Dim lighting, brick walls and columns and red upholstered chairs with wooden tables gave this place an intimate setting that was perfect for a few drinks and a tapa while having a conversation. We ordered a dirty martini extra, extra dirty along with a mojito and cod croquettes. Both drinks were on point, my mojito was classic mint just the way I like it, Havana club rum, sugary and refreshing. The martini was well above average with 3 extra olives. The star of the show was the cod croquettes, made with a delicious creamy cod filling, with a red pepper aioli sauce that put an explosion of flavor in our mouths! If it wasn't for us tapa hopping and trying to eat our way through Barcelona we would have ordered more but it was extremely delicious.

I came around 5pm on a Saturday, and it only took 20 minutes to get in. The bartenders were super friendly and spoke english which was a bonus. Their menu is constantly changing, so I forget the names of the drinks we ordered, but I also ordered a regular old fashion and they nailed it. I noticed another guest being a little rude to one of the bartenders. She was complaining about her drink so they made a new one, and another one after that. Had it been me, I probably would've gave up and asked them to leave lol, but they did not. Instead the opposite, which is very telling of the type of service you'll receive at this place. Overall this was my favorite cocktail bar in Spain, would I go again? Absolutely!

"How did they make this taste like that?" But for enjoying some twists on craft cocktail making? Not so great. Despite a wall full of both rare and classic bottles, most of what's featured on the menu is...eccentric at best. I had two after discussion with the bartender, and both were okay but not what I would enjoy drinking despite having a very broad palate. Although famously ranked by "50 best", this is a lot different than other cocktail bars on that list (I've visited quite a few of them), including the others in Barcelona. Perhaps having hit the number one spot before, they didn't know where to go from there? Nice staff but also missing was bartender banter (at least in English) I've found at most top bars - the bar experience is heavily about that interaction, especially for the solo customer. A positive - drinks are actually cheaper than fancy hotel bars in this city. What they offer *would* be great as a liquid tasting menu and I would return for that. But for full sized cocktails? Meh. Hence the 3 stars. Save it for a date or a "famous bars" crawl, but not for having delicious drinks that tickle the palate while getting the job done.
