Boca Chica There's a restaurant on the street level called Boca Grande. I didn't actually eat there but my friends did so we met upstairs at Boca Chica for drinks. I love the ambiance here. Chill loungy music- not so loud so you can actually hear people and have a conversation. The space is not that big. There is a hostess when you walk up and we asked for a table around 11:30 and got sat right away. (Mind you this was on a Tuesday evening) around 12:30 it was packed. Unfortunately this place closes at 2 am so last call was 1:40am. Drink menu: kind of expensive. Average cocktail is around 15€. I tried the whiskey drink "This is not a joke" and it was a delicious smokey whiskey - fell in love. I would definitely recommend this venue if you're looking for something sleek and chill. Just get there early enough to get a table otherwise you will be standing around.

This cocktail bar was suggested to us by our server at dinner. We walked a couple of blocks and arrived. Immediately after walking up the leopard printer carpeted stairs I knew this place was for me. It was absolutely stunning- vine and twinkle lit covered terraces, big beautiful plush lounge chairs and seating parlors. It was a magnificent bar meant for all the senses. The cocktails were intricate and unique - pricey- but worth it. The best party of this bar was the bathroom - yes the bathroom. 15+ mirrors all placed sporadically on the dimly lit walls with a huge water basin for the sink in the middle. After hours the restroom even has a DJ. If you're in town and looking for a classy night of craft cocktails with a beautiful setting do not miss Boca Chica.

Though the dining experience downstairs at Boca Grande was exquisite, Boca Chica--the upstairs cocktail bar--definitely won the night and won the review. My girlfriend and I made our way upstairs around 10:30pm. Thought it seemed tame around this time, the hostess informed us that all the tables were taken and it would be several minutes (probably longer) before a table would be available. Luckily we found a couple open chairs at the bar, which proved to be an advantage because we got to see the mixologists create the intricate libations that we would later enjoy. The extensive cocktail menu was printed as if it were a ticket booklet. Though a little daunting to peruse at first, it was overall well organized according to liquor, and the detailed descriptions eventually made it easy to pick out the perfect drink. I'm sure the personable and well-spoken bartenders could have helped out, as well. For our first round I ordered the Whiskey Trick--a shaken whiskey cocktail garnished with an artful striation of aromatic bitters. My girlfriend ordered the Brigitte Bardot--a berry and vodka drink served In a flask meant to be enjoyed one shot at time. This drink was served in an ice bucket to keep it chilled. For our second round (yes, we had a second round), I ordered a Courvoisier/Disaronno julep (whose name escapes me right now) served in an ice cube-coated steel cup. My girlfriend ordered the Tokyo--a gin drink served in a cast iron tea pot with dry ice added for a "steam" effect. The drinks were as uniquely delicious as they were creatively presented and in the end, Boca Chica simply had me saying simply: "America, step your cocktail game up!" Side note: You must must MUST visit the bathroom of this establishment located at the bottom floor! It is a shared bathroom which can be awkward for foreigners, but the common area boasts a beautiful mirror display, a large fountain sink, and a photo booth that uses real film (and consequently takes 3 minutes to develop)! Do not miss it!

This is a hot spot in Barcelona where the trendy cool crowd visit. We went to Boca Grande downstairs for a large group dinner. The décor of the restaurant was fabulous and all the reviews were correct about the bathroom - you must go for a food/drinks break and check to check it out! I did not like the food at Boca Chica at all. I found many of the dishes to be too salty for my liking. However, when we were escorted upstairs for drinks at Boca Chica, I was amazed by the bar's inventive nature of the drinks and the classy and elegant ambiance. Boca Chica has an extensive menu between classical and inventive cocktails. It was here that I discovered that Spain is now the world's leading gin consumer per capita so I was especially drawn to their many variations of gin and tonic. I tried a couple glasses of the G&T here and I must say that they were the best I've had!

The atmosphere was great and the staff was very tentative to the customers. Cocktails were phenomenal. The menu gives you a precise description of every cocktail's flavor which is very helpful.

A small group of us came while in town for work. The place has a neat lounge environment and we were lucky to score a cocktail table when we arrived. Getting a table here has an expensive cover. Got a passionfruit martini and it was quite good - not too sweet. The price is high considering the exchange rate as well. I think it was 15 -18 Euro a drink if I'm recalling correctly.

    The bar.

The bar has excellent atmosphere and good quality drinks. Good place if you are visiting Barcelona. The bathroom is s must see!

OK drinks! Hard to find a craft cocktail bar in Barcelona. The drinks are EXPENSIVE. You pay for the atmosphere for sure.

A chic bar piping and pulsing with the beautiful women who populate Barcelona at night. But 30 euros for 2 drinks? Ridiculous.

I came around 5pm on a Saturday, and it only took 20 minutes to get in. The bartenders were super friendly and spoke english which was a bonus. Their menu is constantly changing, so I forget the names of the drinks we ordered, but I also ordered a regular old fashion and they nailed it. I noticed another guest being a little rude to one of the bartenders. She was complaining about her drink so they made a new one, and another one after that. Had it been me, I probably would've gave up and asked them to leave lol, but they did not. Instead the opposite, which is very telling of the type of service you'll receive at this place. Overall this was my favorite cocktail bar in Spain, would I go again? Absolutely!

"How did they make this taste like that?" But for enjoying some twists on craft cocktail making? Not so great. Despite a wall full of both rare and classic bottles, most of what's featured on the menu is...eccentric at best. I had two after discussion with the bartender, and both were okay but not what I would enjoy drinking despite having a very broad palate. Although famously ranked by "50 best", this is a lot different than other cocktail bars on that list (I've visited quite a few of them), including the others in Barcelona. Perhaps having hit the number one spot before, they didn't know where to go from there? Nice staff but also missing was bartender banter (at least in English) I've found at most top bars - the bar experience is heavily about that interaction, especially for the solo customer. A positive - drinks are actually cheaper than fancy hotel bars in this city. What they offer *would* be great as a liquid tasting menu and I would return for that. But for full sized cocktails? Meh. Hence the 3 stars. Save it for a date or a "famous bars" crawl, but not for having delicious drinks that tickle the palate while getting the job done.

Wow did we want to give this place 5 stars…read more The bartenders were great and welcoming and the decor was very cool. It is a pleasant place to be physically. All of the cocktails we tried were excellent (we had two more not featured on photos here). We went Sunday 4/19 around open (5pm ish until 7:30 ish). However, our experience was sort of ruined when a female employee came over and chided my wife and two other American patrons we were talking to for being too loud. They weren't being particularly loud and at this point we were the only four people sitting at the bar itself. She was not a bartender (at that time at least) and she completely ruined our vibe with this complaint. She had been eyeing one of the other American patrons we had been talking to before she came over and confronted my wife after she laughed. The bar tenders didn't seem to be aware this happened and when we were closing out they remarked they didn't think we had been loud and that they like their guests to have fun. This female employee apparently didn't get the memo! We sense that perhaps she just dislikes Americans, which would be rich for working at an establishment like this! She also had no issues when a dog other guests brought in barked loudly multiple times, each time silencing the entire bar because the barks were so booming. The other American couple felt the same way -- the stern talking to just ruined the experience for all four of us. So... great spot but our experience was unnecessarily tarnished by a jerk employee!!!
