One of our favorite cocktail bars in Barcelona. Nestled in a laneway just off one of the main streets Boca Chica is a cocktail bar that is upstairs from one of our favorite restaurants. The cocktails here are unique, tasty and have the best presentation. Our favorite is the passionfruit martini, served with a shot of cava. Service is wonderful, everyone is friendly and the mixologist are top notch. If you plan to go later at night, reservations are recommended. Very arrogant and bad treatment. We had booked a table for a whole evening 2 months in advance. But when we arrived, we were assigned a small corner table at the back of the room, where we had to sit partly with our backs to the room. At the same time, there were other available and better placed tables, but we could not get them, as they were reserved for "special guests", we were told by the arrogant and snobbish staff. So we were not special guests even though we had booked 2 months in advance and came directly from a dinner at their restaurant on the ground floor. So Boca Chica cannot be trusted. Muy arrogante y mal trato. Habíamos reservado una mesa para toda una noche con 2 meses de antelación. Boca Chica has an amazing vibe! The decor & interior is on point I love it! Boca Chica definitely reminded me being back home in LA at some of my favorite places. The Drinks are okay...The staff was very nice and accommodating for the most part so that made up for the ''OKAY'' drinks. The bathrooms are unisex and quite interesting! You can get quite a few photo ops if you're into that! I didn't dine this visit but I plan to re-visit to do so! I heard the food was great from quite a few locals. read more

Boca Chica There's a restaurant on the street level called Boca Grande. I didn't actually eat there but my friends did so we met upstairs at Boca Chica for drinks. I love the ambiance here. Chill loungy music- not so loud so you can actually hear people and have a conversation. The space is not that big. There is a hostess when you walk up and we asked for a table around 11:30 and got sat right away. (Mind you this was on a Tuesday evening) around 12:30 it was packed. Unfortunately this place closes at 2 am so last call was 1:40am. Drink menu: kind of expensive. Average cocktail is around 15€. I tried the whiskey drink "This is not a joke" and it was a delicious smokey whiskey - fell in love. I would definitely recommend this venue if you're looking for something sleek and chill. Just get there early enough to get a table otherwise you will be standing around. read more

This cocktail bar was suggested to us by our server at dinner. We walked a couple of blocks and arrived. Immediately after walking up the leopard printer carpeted stairs I knew this place was for me. It was absolutely stunning- vine and twinkle lit covered terraces, big beautiful plush lounge chairs and seating parlors. It was a magnificent bar meant for all the senses. The cocktails were intricate and unique - pricey- but worth it. The best party of this bar was the bathroom - yes the bathroom. 15+ mirrors all placed sporadically on the dimly lit walls with a huge water basin for the sink in the middle. After hours the restroom even has a DJ. If you're in town and looking for a classy night of craft cocktails with a beautiful setting do not miss Boca Chica. read more

Cool bar scene. It gets crowded and looks more like a date spot than anything else. Best part of this bar location, since there seems to be a couple bars in this building, is in the RESTROOM. Most bizarre thing. All the bar/lounges were pretty quiet and romantic, but when you get to the restroom, it's lit. There's a DJ spinning some lively house and hip-hop music. Everyone is standing and mingling with each other. The stalls are all unisex and is right behind the DJ booth. The restroom was my favorite part of this building. Price: reasonably priced drinks. Though the dining experience downstairs at Boca Grande was exquisite, Boca Chica--the upstairs cocktail bar--definitely won the night and won the review. My girlfriend and I made our way upstairs around 10:30pm. Thought it seemed tame around this time, the hostess informed us that all the tables were taken and it would be several minutes (probably longer) before a table would be available. Luckily we found a couple open chairs at the bar, which proved to be an advantage because we got to see the mixologists create the intricate libations that we would later enjoy. The extensive cocktail menu was printed as if it were a ticket booklet. Though a little daunting to peruse at first, it was overall well organized according to liquor, and the detailed descriptions eventually made it easy to pick out the perfect drink. I'm sure the personable and well-spoken bartenders could have helped out, as well. For our first round I ordered the Whiskey Trick--a shaken whiskey cocktail garnished with an artful striation of aromatic bitters. My girlfriend ordered the Brigitte Bardot--a berry and vodka drink served In a flask meant to be enjoyed one shot at time. This drink was served in an ice bucket to keep it chilled. For our second round (yes, we had a second round), I ordered a Courvoisier/Disaronno julep (whose name escapes me right now) served in an ice cube-coated steel cup. My girlfriend ordered the Tokyo--a gin drink served in a cast iron tea pot with dry ice added for a "steam" effect. The drinks were as uniquely delicious as they were creatively presented and in the end, Boca Chica simply had me saying simply: "America, step your cocktail game up!" Side note: You must must MUST visit the bathroom of this establishment located at the bottom floor! It is a shared bathroom which can be awkward for foreigners, but the common area boasts a beautiful mirror display, a large fountain sink, and a photo booth that uses real film (and consequently takes 3 minutes to develop)! This is a hot spot in Barcelona where the trendy cool crowd visit. We went to Boca Grande downstairs for a large group dinner. The décor of the restaurant was fabulous and all the reviews were correct about the bathroom - you must go for a food/drinks break and check to check it out! I did not like the food at Boca Chica at all. I found many of the dishes to be too salty for my liking. However, when we were escorted upstairs for drinks at Boca Chica, I was amazed by the bar's inventive nature of the drinks and the classy and elegant ambiance. Boca Chica has an extensive menu between classical and inventive cocktails. It was here that I discovered that Spain is now the world's leading gin consumer per capita so I was especially drawn to their many variations of gin and tonic. Hi, Barcelona? LA just called and said they'll be over in 12 hours. We came here after a recommendation by our hotel...so glad we did! The ambiance felt like we were back home at an LA lounge with the beautiful people of Spain. That's right kids, put your fancy pants on because this is the place you want to snuggle up with one of those hot locals!! They have a great selection of drinks. We stuck to our usual and ordered a glass of Cava (when in Espana) and a scotch on the rocks. The drinks are measured here, FYI! The service was fast and our bartender was really friendly. If you are coming here for the first time, you can take the elevator up to the 2nd floor or just climb the stairs. No one really told us how to go in when we arrived, so we waited on the elevator, not sure where this place was...got tired of waiting and climbed the stairs up. read more

I don't even know what some of the people are talking about in their reviews. When I went, there was a cocktail list of maybe ten drinks. I even asked a couple of times to make sure there wasn't a more extensive cocktail menu, just in case there was a language issue (as there was later on, when I asked for tap water and was presented with a bottle), but the waiter confirmed that this was it. I ended up getting a Tokio, which was good, but not worth 20€. The food was fine. My waiter was rather brusque, but that might've been because I asked him if he was sure there wasn't another cocktail menu repeatedly. The bathroom was fine, too, though like the cocktails, less exciting than Yelp had led me to believe. I went at 20:00 to avoid the crowds, and succeeded; at that hour, it's almost empty on a Saturday night. It filled up by about 21:30. read more

Beautiful ambience; weak and expensive drinks. My gin and tonic was huge, but it was all tonic. And for 20€ (upgraded gin). My advice: order such a drink and have them bring the gin and tonic separately so you can 1) see that there's alcohol in the drink, and 2) mix to your own proportion.
