This little gem was recommend to us on our recent trip to Barcelona. We were tapa hopping from one spot to another and extremely happy we walked in La Luna. Like most of the restaurants in this city it has charm. Dim lighting, brick walls and columns and red upholstered chairs with wooden tables gave this place an intimate setting that was perfect for a few drinks and a tapa while having a conversation. We ordered a dirty martini extra, extra dirty along with a mojito and cod croquettes. Both drinks were on point, my mojito was classic mint just the way I like it, Havana club rum, sugary and refreshing. The martini was well above average with 3 extra olives. The star of the show was the cod croquettes, made with a delicious creamy cod filling, with a red pepper aioli sauce that put an explosion of flavor in our mouths! If it wasn't for us tapa hopping and trying to eat our way through Barcelona we would have ordered more but it was extremely delicious. read more

A week in Barcelona....this was the only meal I could not eat. What a charming and unique location. The restaurant is well decorated. Two tables were served before we were and they had multiples servers attending to them. Our waitress was incredibly slow and reluctant to answer questions about the menu. Other tables were fortunate to have a swift and efficient waiter. We were jealous. The lamb was tough and the chicken was dry. Both were not cooked hastily. The nachos while large were in need of queso. Note only the top of the nachos were paired with toppings while the majority at the bottom were naked. Come for drinks if you must and sit at the bar if you expect to receive your order timely. Otherwise you will be held hostage. read more

We went here on a recommendation, and they certainly got it right. We ordered 9 different plates to split between 5 of us as well as 2 jugs of sangria. For the amount of food we got, the ~ £16 per person was a steal. My personal favorite was the organic sausage. It was seasoned perfectly and I almost ordered a second one. The sirloin steak, cod fritters, and tomato bread were all tasty, but the mushroom "risotto" left much to be desired. Love this place. It was only a minute walk from the apt we stayed in, so we kept coming back. The food is delicious and the staff is really friendly and their english is really good. They have a big seating area, and the bathrooms are pretty decent. I really recommend the chicken quesadillas, they were super tasty. The noise level was low enough for conversation, but still had a very active vibe. Lots of patrons coming in and out and a fun energetic vibe and crowd. Of the ten days I was in Spain this was my favorite restaurant I went to and definitely my favorite tapas place. FOOD: Went with a large group so we had a chance to try a lot of different dishes. Favorites were the curry, nachos, quesadillas, filet, and bravas. The menu was standard spanish tapas with somewhat of a mexican influence. Came here following a recommendation from a friend. However, it was not a satisfactory experience. Service was so painfully slow before we were even greeted or got water. I know that dining in Spain is slower but this was ridiculous. The restaurant was clearly understaffed as was seen in the incredibly slow service and the panic on all the servers faces. The servers were all very nice but we had to ask our server several times for more napkins and kept having to check in on our food and drinks. Drinks (cava sangria and gin and tonic) came out after we had almost finished eating. We ordered a few different tapas, which mostly tasted fine, but too salty and left us all feeling gross. Great place! Once inside, it feels like you're in a cave really, with the old looming barri gotic walls giving a really cozy atmosphere. The food was really food, and it arrived quickly. What more can I say: La Luna was both our first dinner meal and last dinner meal of our week long trip (Barcelona & Valencia). We tried almost everything on the menu with a group of 4 people total, but my favorites were the filet, duck, quesadilla and spinach & artichoke ravioli (incredible!). The sangria was BY FAR the best we tried in Spain. We had both the red and the cava sangria and both were awesome. You will need an RSVP to be seated here, so plan accordingly. This place is definitely off the path in the Gothic Quarter and it does not have a tourist vibe at all. The building they are located in is over 500 years old, so the decor and ambiance are awesome. I've been here twice now in Barcelona and I love this place! The tapas are delicious, unique, and great value! Their cocktail menu is very long and intricate and again, drinks are a great value and very good! The interior is very stylish and cool, really creating a great atmosphere to have dinner and/or drinks in. My favorite dishes are the calamari, fajitas, and nachos! La Luna is a great place to start a night out in Barcelona. They have tasty cocktails and food at great prices (I recommend the 4 quesadilla for 5eur). Although they have a restaurant in the back, you can order food at the bar. They share the menu with La Fianna (2 streets up). The music is usually not too loud and there are a lot of places to sit, so it's really more of a cosy bar than a party type place. I definitely recommend La Luna for a quiet night or to meet up with friends and have a chat before one of those crazy BCN nights. read more

This was our favorite restaurant in Spain. Food is amazing and the atmosphere is even better!

I had stumbled upon La Luna completely by chance (which equates to positive recommendations by reviewers on Google) when i was looking for a place to drink on a sunday evening while on a holiday to Barcelona last year. La Luna is a little way from the water-front, in a grainy alley. The large interior reminded me of middle-eastern restaurants. The bar spanned a big portion of the length of the left wall. We were seated at a big table quite close to the entrance. The sound level was optimal ... the place was buzzing (even though it was a sunday) but it wasn't loud. One member of our group was a teetotaller. So he kept on drinking glasses of Coke (while keeping watch on the rest of us) while we got down to the serious business. I started with a Long Island Iced Tea ... then moved over to a White Russian and then many more (at this point my memory starts to get hazy ;) ). The cocktails were fabulous. The common ones were prepared well and although there weren't many unique drinks like those one can find in the best places in London, the ambience and the service more than made up for it. The orders were taken promptly and our drinks arrived quickly (which was good for them as we drank more). The waitress was sweet enough to get us a last round of tequila shots even after the bar had closed and we were the only people still left there :) We came in before 11 and left after 2 ... and spent most of the next day in a daze. We had at least 4-5 drinks each and it cost us only about 40€ per person, which seemed quite cheap. I have nothing but fond memories of La Luna. read more

Me, my partner and some friends from Barcelona were looking for something a little later on at night (after 9). we had looked around for a while and found this place deciding to check it out. When we went in the man was receive but said that there might be a 20-30 minute wait so we chatted and decided to wait with drinks. It seems he was trying to manage our expectations as we were barely through half out beers and he was ushering us to a nearby table. Once seated we were wifely dealt with and order 2 tapas each and some beers, we then decided to get wine.. Just to tell you how fast it was ( as we thought that there would be plenty time to drink the beers before the food started to come) the tapas started to arrive basically straight Atari had tested the wine (a nice Tempranillo). It was all sumptuous and came to an amazing price! This restaurant is located in the gothic quarter of Barcelona which is my favorite part of Barcelona and has a really cool vibe. It has a wine cellar or castle like atmosphere and the food, OMG amazing! You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, but my hands down favorite items is the sangria (best I have ever had) and Cod Croquettes!
