My husband and I stopped at Bar Del Pi for a drink and quick bite while wandering around Barcelona. We were drawn in by the inviting open door concept and foot traffic going inside. While it is a small establishment, it was well lit with natural lighting and good vibes of other customers. We sat down at a small table next to the bar and ordered two drinks. My husband ordered a beer and I ordered a sangria. The sangria was strong and well made. He had several other beers, stating they were crisp and delicious on the warm day. We ordered the hummus as time passed and it was delicious. The pita was warm and fresh. The staff was kind, but also very busy as the day progressed. The tapas here are amazingly, delicious!! While on vacation in Europe (Spain, France, and Italy) this summer, my hubby and I spent 3 days in Barcelona for incredible food and breathtaking architectural landmarks. The grilled octopus served with well-seasoned puréed potatoes (permentier) was hands down my favorite! The bombas are also delicious and cooked to perfection. See photos. The service was not bad. I tried to make a reservation but they did not understand or they don't take them. I got there and it's seat yourself in the street patio if one opens up. Like the setting in front of a church plaza (St. Peter?). Feels local even though it's about ten minutes from the B. Cathedral. Sangria was easy to take in. Finally, succumbed to the croquette sirens. These was a tad salty and melty cheese consistency inside. They have three options for a mixed combo. I chose the "mer" with cod, squid ink, and ???. Surprisingly I like the squid ink the best since it had the most pronounced essence of the sea. Lucked out with free show with street performers. read more

If you have not tried the Spanish vermouth, this is the place to go. They make it in house and it's not like anything I've ever had before. I was here on my both my first and last day in Spain. This is a cute little spot right in a very happening area. The food is probably some of the best tapas I have had while in Catalonia. I knocked a star off due to our waiter on the last night. I watched him smoke a cigarette after my mother ordered a glass of cava. When he went back to work, he forgot about it and seemed annoyed with us when we asked again. He also tried to tell us to order less food, even after we told him it's fine. Perhaps this place is not staffed enough. Whatever the case may be, I still recommend! read more

For the last three nights I have been enjoying Tapas and beverages here. It is a very busy place and they are understaffed, but the servers are kind, patient and very much want to please. Especially Roger. They also have wonderful cappuccino. I am from Alaska and have particularly enjoyed the calamari,( but tonight the aioli tasted mire like mayonnaise ) the arugula salad, the mushroom crochettes and the sangria. Not a fan of the meatballs, as they lacked flavor. Kind of bland. read more

Walk in like you own the place. Thats what I did and they loved it. We sat where we wanted and the staff was quick to bring our drinks and take our orders. The food was delicious and bar is just the right size. Great place for a late lunch. read more

This was our first stop once we arrived in the city. We arrived starving, thirsty, and completely out of our comfort zone. I'm not entirely sure what we ordered- some type of meat cheese fried ball with sauce on it. The name doesn't matter because it was delicious! We also ordered some jabon to eat and vermouth to drink. We stopped here for breakfast. It's a small place, but they're dishing up some pretty savory food. There is a lovely patio area in the plaza if your lucky enough to get a seat. Unfortunately they were full when we were there, but they had seating inside the restaurant. The waiter/owner is a no nonsense straight forward kinda elderly man. Tell him what you want and he'll get it for you. That's about it. Our breakfast was delicious though and we were on our way in no time. read more

2 words: Hot Chocolate. Truth be told, you can throw a rock in this town and get the most amazing hot chocolate, but since that's all I had there, this place gets the review. We need this stuff in the rest of the world, thick, syrupy, more like chocolate soup than anything else. If anyone ever offers me "Swiss Miss" again, I'm going to slap them. I must have stopped by here 4 or 5 times when I was in Barcelona. It was literally 5 minutes from my hotel so it was quite convenient to pop in for some pinchos and drinks from time to time. Pinchos are easily one of the greatest food inventions in history. Imagine 20 kinds of apps and mini sanwiches propped up by toothpicks that are ready to eat on the counter. It's glorious! Take what you want, and pay by the number of toothpicks you have left over. It's also very casual, so you can take your time and enjoy the vibe if you want to relax after a day of traveling. Good place to go if you like terrible service and getting scammed. Like most reviewers, I arrived here with my partner and waited for 15 minutes without service (the waiter ignored us when we signaled while serving other tables). We got up to leave, and three wait staff members - suddenly attentive - ran after us and physically grabbed up both, trying to make us pay for the empty sangria left behind on our table by the last guests. No matter that there were two of us and four empty glasses of sangria, that the previous inhabitants of the table had paid in our vision while we were waiting, or that there are so few tables it's hard to believe they didn't remember who was here before. Fortunately the other guests spoke up and let them know what was what, and they eventually, after some argument, released us. Avoid at all costs. read more
