So as nice and big as this place was it just wasn't what I was expecting. I was expecting to see moto x / snowboarding / etc. type gear on top of the other basics athletic gear you find elsewhere at stores such as academy, sports authority, and so on. The place was overwhelming with so much stuff. If you haven't been you should still go check it out, but lower your expectations before you step inside. There is of course a big Ferris wheel type thing (it is currently closed due to COVID). There are guns galore.. didn't get to check it out due to there being a line of people waiting to get into that section. With that all being said I will be back as it is a nice store with a lot to to choose from. Next time I'm hoping the weather is a little bit color so I can check out the big open yard in the back where there is a stage (I'm assuming for gigs in the near future) and eatery's to choose from. Fives from me are far and few between. Let me explain. 3 you did your job yay have a lollipop, 4 you went above and beyond and the tip just got bigger, 5 you knew what I needed before I did and you took that service to a level that even family wouldn't do for you, take my car and first born. Basically 5 is not impossible but they don't come easy and absolutely should be recognized. This is important because the 4 men that assisted me and my son with his bow raised the bar to a height I have rarely if ever experienced. Known as the 3 Chris' and Wayne they man the archery department at Scheels. Now I could boar you with the details but let's just hit the highlights. This started because I upgraded the sight on my bow and moved my old one to his. This turned into quite the rabbit hole to tune. These men were patient and determined to get this corrected. They easily could have given it back, told us it had a non-standard issue and sent us on our way. Instead they engaged the other team members and took the time and effort to make sure that not only was it fixed but that we had a great experience. Additionally their attitude was fantastic. For some reason after the first adjustment it had been changed. We determined that someone had confused it. Either way with a smile they took care of it straight away. No eye rolls or irritation. I can't get that when when Starbucks screws up my coffee and this is way more complicated. So huge props to the 3 Chris' and Wayne. You have a customer for life. read more

Meh...basically the same as if Dicks and Cabelas had a baby. They have a fish tank when you walk in but not nearly as extensive as Bass Pro/Cabelas. They are sectioned like Dicks but not as fluid. The giant Ferris wheel in the center is pretty cool. The regional sports area was above decent. I was disappointed in the pricing though. The sale items were very picked through and limited. Everything else was very pricey. We were there looking for a fishing magnet, shot in the dark but we tried anyway. I wasn't disappointed they didn't have it since it seems to be an online only item, I was disappointed that between three different departments we were hard pressed to find assistance. The gun accessories seemed impressive. I was here on a mission so I attempted not to spend too much time in other places...attempted! For me, it's a pass for any future trips to DFW. Maybe it's fine for a local but I would think Dicks/Academy/etc would be an equal. read more

Scheels is a great addition to our area. We went there on the second day it was open and waited in line as they practiced the latest in state wide social distancing rules. Once we got in we were overwhelmed with the selection. They had an in store Trek bike shop (unfortunately, we are Specialized), apparrel, sporting goods, hunting, great gun and gun accessories, extensive ammo, sausage making supplies (including casings!), grills, smokers, toys, home furnishings, and I could go on. The arcade games peppered throughout the store were shut down as was the indoor Ferris wheel, but it all looked cool. Prices were good, the selection extensive, the staff was knowledgeable and very helpful. It is now one of my favorite big box stores ranking up there with Micro Center, Home Depot, and Rockler. read more

Take your firearms to some better gunsmiths that have a greater grasp on communication and customer service. Their words carry no weight and can't seem to get everyone on the same page when it comes to proper information given to customers. You then have other associates gaslighting issues they state to have originally taken part in, but actually didn't. The prices are great, but they are all just salesmen, even the "gunsmiths". Everything else is great, the products and prices are phenomenal, just that though. I'm still going to buy here, just not get work done here. read more

First time visitor yesterday and was blown away by the selection and the staff. Everyone seems happy to be there and it was a really nice retail shopping experience. Went specifically to get some help with archery and Chris went above and beyond not only to give me some great info but got me sorted out on my longbow in no time. I did not expect this and am happy to recommend both the folks in the Archery Dept as well as the whole store. I ended up shopping around for a bit and everyone was super helpful and friendly, there were no issues. Haven at the Customer Service desk helped me out when I walked in and it really set the tone for the whole trip. Can't wait to go back, thank y'all for such a great experience. read more

Bye bye Dick's. Very well organized and clean store. The staff is fantastic. Enough staff to cover each section, they are proactive in asking if you need help, and extremely friendly. The shoe section is excellent. Large selection and, again, plenty of staff around to help. I was asked by three people in less than 5 minutes if I needed help or a shoe to try on. I can't remember the last time someone at Dick's asked if I need help. Added bonus that the store has non-sports or outdoors clothing as well. I actually purchased a pair of O'neill shorts there. Jake was amazing! This is the 2nd time we had encountered him. The first time was when my 10 year old. He took his time and showed him different bows. Great experience for my son. 2nd time... Went to Scheels needed help in the archery section. Stood there for 5 minutes no one greeting us. There were 2 people behind the counter. My spouse finally got a young guys attention and he seemed super annoyed didn't even look up to answer his question. We waited a few minutes longer when Jake finished with a customer in the ranger. Place is pretty nice usually well stocked and staffed. Need to get their shit together on ammo and instead of a free for all walk people in. It's like Black Friday everyday with people absolutely hoarding ammo (to resell at gun shows of course) The kicker is the staff says you can have two boxes, get to the register and it's sorry, you can only have one if it's over 50rd with the manager taking them out of your cart. Scheels is so big it's overwhelming when you first walk in; however, it's great. There is a huge variety of options from clothing to sporting goods to Basin bath products. It's worth going to, even if you just want to walk around and take it in. I will say the lack of plus size options in a store this big is surprising and disappointing. So many fun things!! Love shopping at Scheels! Obviously lots of thing's for the sports enthusiast but so much more! Great selection of clothes. Fun home decorating area and the staff has always been super nice and helpful. I do find some items pretty high priced but that could just be frugal me. But when a running shirt is marked 40% off and it's still $40...that's pricey to me. (Only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars) I grew up in North Dakota where our Scheels was a small store in the mall...love what it has grown into! We had to buy a few things for my nephews to get back to school and get back into sports. After the obvious choices they recommended that we come here. It's a wild store. Never been to such a place. Lots of photo ops. Great aquarium. I keep wondering if the guys from Tanked worked on this one. The Ferris wheel was cool to see indoors, too. We found lots of things they needed. Many things we would have had to get on line. Some of the items were a few dollars more than we could have found on line but I suppose we would have spent that on shipping. The real reason I came to leave a review was because of Nathaniel who helped us out at the register. He was so sweet, kind, helpful, and friendly. We were at the end of our long day and he brought sunshine into our Scheel's experience and helped us leave with a pep in our step. We need more Nathaniels in the world and you need more at Scheel's. Also, your security guards were great. When I was acting like my nephews were strangers who were harassing me, they played along for some great improv. read more

They have a place to eat and relax and things for all ages. Their prices are fair. The place is clean including the restrooms. The employees, many of them with exception to our cashier were so incredibly friendly and helpful. The cashier got on my nerves because I bought stickers and he threw them in a bag w heavy items. Before I even checked out I took them out and asked for an additional bag and they were already bending. Will definitely return though. read more

FIVE STAR's all over for this company. I have yet to find better customer service at ANY retail store at this compacity. I recently moved to Texas and had the worst moving company and broker. As we unpack our things i noticed that they manage to remove my front tire of my bike and then taped the front brakes in the engaged position, causing them to be stuck together. I called and spoke with Dolton. He was able to assess the situation over the phone and said bring it on down and we can take a look. Upon arrival he greeted me and my fiancé and quickly got to work. He was able to show me how to correct the issue if it ever happens again and as well as correcting the rub of rotor. Thank you so much Dolton for all your assistance with getting my bike back riding as well as the assistance with finding the best helmet for my fiancé. Went to check out the new-ish mega sporting goods store in town today. It's beautiful, clean, and worth visiting ... once. For a Friday afternoon there were very few people in the store and nobody was buying anything. Although a really huge store, I found the selection quite limited and pricey. I give it two stars because found the staff annoying. At the Trek (bicycles) store an employee followed us everywhere; later another employee seemed upset at us after we crossed paths while checking the Ferris Wheel (yep, there's one inside the store). As we were leaving, we witnessed the police stoping a car for no reason at all in the parking lot. I drove away wondering if they are trying to make people uncomfortable on purpose. Scheels is great. They are dog friendly and my dog loves to come here. Great selection of dog bones as well. I like to take her here and let her pick out a bone and then we walk over to their excellent firearm section and I pick out either a gun or some ammo. A true win for both of us. Came in with zero (0) knowledge about fishing. We spent @2hrs with Jacob Smith in the fishing Dept he was professional, knowledgeable and most important "patient"! We left their empowered and excited. Basically gave him our credit card and said, "dude just go get us everting we need! First off I just have to say I find it hilarious that most of the bad reviews are because they saw customers not wearing masks!!!! Hahaha that has nothing to do with a review.... well in my opinion atleast. You can still wear a mask if you choose I'm just glad you don't have to if you choose. We come here almost every Sunday as a family! It's like a Bass Pro-Cabelas-Dicks had a baby and throw in a Ferris wheel! We always let our girls look at the fish, go grab the honey bee iced coffee and the complimentary pecans (which are amazing), go look at shoes, clothes, guns, etc. Then always swing by the candy shop and look as all the animal displays. Our girls love it! Especially the giraffe and the motion censored Nolan Ryan and Emmit Smith. This place has great stuff, I will say I find the women's department a little pricey with clothing. Again great place to go if you're into sports, hunting, anything outdoors, shoes etc! read more

I love Scheels. It's my favorite sporting goods store. The store is gorgeous, food is great, they have many sales, workers are kind, they're constantly restocking/getting new goods, and they have great selections of goods (especially new items and not workout equipment, clothes/shoe models that were sold years ago, pet supplies, firearms, etc unlike other sporting goods stores). This is usually my go-to place for fishing supplies, firearms, and ammo. When ammo was on low supply or costs an arm and a leg, Scheels was where I would go to find ammo at a reasonable price. Plus they got ammo in pretty often. Firearm prices are pretty reasonable as well and they price match other retailers. My dad originally wanted to get his Walther PPQ milled for an optic, but after discussing it with the armorer, it wasn't that much more expensive to buy the new Walther PDP full size once he traded in his PPQ (which we got a fair price for). I bought my dog a bed here and he loves it. The castiron/ carbon steel selection here is unmatched too. Back in 2020 they used to sell Finex cast iron skillets and it was cheaper than the prices online at Finex's website or at Williams-Sonoma. Overall this is one of the stores my family shop at often. We used to stop by almost every week when I used to live in Frisco, but haven't been able to come here as often as we would like (our bank accounts are thankful though). We'll still drive over from Dallas if we're looking for something specific though because Scheels usually has it. read more

The store is huge, like Academy on steroids. Scheel's has everything you could imagine. Camping, sports, shoes, ferris wheel, stuff for home gyms, small furniture section.... the list goes on and on. You would be hard pressed not to find what you need if it involves the outdoors. Inside it has open clean, wide aisles and smiling friendly employees to greet you. They have a 2 lane bowling alley, but it's closed due to this pandemic. As with the other attractions in the store. I was slightly overwhelmed as there is so much to see. It's like a kid in a candy store like Willy Wonka but its Scheel's Wonka. Its 2 stories and it has elevators or stairs. For those with any disability the elevators are wide. I will definitely go back and see what else I missed. It's not a 30 minute look-around type store. You need time to peruse the ultimate shopping experience ladies and gentlemen! read more

I don't even no where to begin. So I'll just make it short and sweet. I went in to order brand new mizuno 923 Tour irons that were custom. After the two week window. I call to see how things are going and get an update John Tilly who is a manager there states that " they never were ordered " so I ask for the order to just be cancelled. John then states that he will sell the clubs for a discount and that he can deliver them for sure in two weeks. Once again no communication no tracking number .. I call and see where the clubs are. And John decided to turn into a jerk and say this isn't on them this isn't on him this isn't his fault and states " you want them or not " long story short. Terrible terrible terrible customer service. The golf section is a joke. They should just stick to selling rides on their Farris wheel. Because that's exactly what they are clowns in a circus !
