[[HIGHLIGHT]]The food was good, the ambiance was decent, the service - I'd say half of the team dedicated to our party of three that night - was great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Here's the thing - we were here to celebrate an award I'd received, but I honestly would have been good with a more casual experience, less fussy menu and a quieter dining room to actually have the conversations without having to shout or lean way into the person speaking. But my boss insisted - bless her - that we needed something special to celebrate, so here we are. At least we didn't have to travel far, since we were staying at the Nomad for this trip. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were shown to our table right away, in the overcrowded and very loud dining room.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had two main servers - one that seemed delighted to see us and eager to help, the other that felt a little less welcoming and accommodating. Unfortunately, that waiter was our "main" guy, the one sending our orders back to the kitchen. We decided early on to get a bunch of dishes to share at the table, which was highly encouraged by both waiters. To start, we went with the Yellowtail ($29), which was fresh and light. We also ordered the Charred Octopus ($32) - I was surprised my boss agreed to that one - which was essentially one medium-ish tentacle served over a sauce, with some small roasted potatoes. I liked the flavor and thought the octopus was cooked well. The last Primi dish we ordered was the Braised Short Rib ($29). The meat was perfectly cooked, very tender and juicy. The risotto was a nice accompaniment, but there weren't many seasonal vegetables, as promised by the menu. After a lot of back and forth, we decided to share the Muscovy Duck (essentially a ravioli dish, $62) and a side of the Broccolini ($22) before capping everything off with the Branzino ($89). The duck ravioli came out first, and the presentation was a show. The pasta is made in-house, and you can tell it's fresh and good quality. The filling was quite rich - it also had foie gras in there - and tasted as gamey as you'd expect from a duck dish. The Branzino was flaky and flavorful, though it was a bit hard to parse and serve because of the skin. The broccolini was the surprise stand-out dish of the night, with the brightness from the lemon and the crunch of the almond slices. We made quick work of all the dishes as the team came by to refill drinks (cocktails for my boss and our guest, Nebbiolo by the glass for me) and water. We didn't think we'd order dessert - my boss is not a sweets person and I was already at capacity by then - but then the calls to celebrate started to circulate the table and before I knew it we'd placed an order for the Aranciata Trifle ($25, but the menu says that's for two guests, and they brought out three dishes for the whole table, so not sure if they charged us more for that.) The trifle is made table-side, with the waiter explaining each component as he fills each glass dish before serving. It was cold and soothing - a bit tart, a bit sweet - and the perfect end to a rich and filling meal.
Stopped by Scarpetta to check out their menu for the last day of restaurant week! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is dimly lit and we were seated in the bar area instead of the dining room which was a bit louder than we anticipated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There were lots of people there for after work drinks and food, so it was lively but loud, which took away from the dining experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'd recommend asking for the main dining room in the future.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The restaurant week menu was solid with a variety of dishes that were all great. The Stromboli bread was a great starter and the eggplant dip it came with was amazing. The fluke was seasoned well and had some interesting texture with the crispy toppings on it. For entrees our group tried the chicken, spaghetti and the special cavatelli with truffle. The chicken was perfectly cooked as it was extremely tender and moist. It was also served with a crispy spaetzle on the side. Their iconic spaghetti was amazing as always, simple but elegant. The cavatelli special was served with a truffle foam which gave it a nice flavor and the pasta was al dente. For dessert we had the chocolate cake which was good, but would have been better served warm. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall the food was great here but it was just a bit too loud in the bar dining area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]
We went last night and were blown away by the food! We had the burrata (5/5) and cacio e pepe ravioli (4/5) to start. I had the spaghetti for my main (5/5) and the trifle (4/5) for dessert. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town!
We come here every year when we visit NYC. The spaghetti is outstanding: I first got it at their Meatpacking location a few years ago, and was amazed by how good it was. The tomato flavor is really deep, I wouldn't be surprised if they boil their pasta in tomato water from the skins. We get it every year, and it's always amazing. This year, we also got the pumpkin gnocchi and the cavatelli, and they were even better than the spaghetti. The gnocchi had a unique texture and shape; it had a great chew to it. Also the sauce was outstanding: the combination of brown butter and rosemary was rich and savory and paired well with the pieces of pumpkin and the flavor of the gnocchi. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is also always great, especially during the holidays. It's so festive![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]
Had a nice Italian meal at Scarpetta this past week. The vibe inside is elevated, intimate and warm. The servers were very kind and attentive with refilling water. We started with a bottle of white wine with scallops. My one negative is that the reasonably priced (under $100 / bottle) wine selections were limited. We were able to find a good Soave we liked, but would suggest that they add a few more options to the menu! The scallops were delicious, but heads up it only comes with 2 scallops (which was a bit surprising given the price of the dish). The pumpkin gnocchi was also quite good - would for sure recommend. The carrot cake was ok, could have probably skipped it. Overall I would recommend Scarpetta for an elevated date night or dinner with family/colleagues. The food is high quality (albeit a bit expensive), and my experience was very positive!

The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. You can tell they really care about their guests and the overall experience. I had the pleasure of coming to Scarpetta for the first time for a work dinner and loved every second of it. Upon arrival, we were seated at our table even though one of the members from our party was running late and it was appreciated. Martin was our server, he came out with waters right away and told us about the specials. He was super attentive all throughout the dinner. For appetizers, we shared the Seared Scallops, Short Rib and Octopus. They were all very good but the scallop was my favorite. It was so flavorful and cooked perfectly. The short rib was tender. We also shared 2 pasta dishes - the agnolotti and gnocchi. The agnolotti was stuffed with meat and sooo good. For dinner, I had the Muscovy duck. It was excellent. I had the chance to try the porterhouse that my coworkers were sharing and it was delish with the wine we ordered. For dessert, I had the flour-less chocolate cake. I know that not everyone likes a flour-less chocolate cake but wow - it's worth trying. I'll definitely come back again as it's a 10min walk from my office and well - the pasta alone was well worth it!
[[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is beautiful and is located inside a hotel, and our waiter was very attentive and charming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bread service was unique and tasty- I loved the tomato sauce. The food was great: I split the pomodoro pasta and the mushroom pasta with my friend, and both were very fresh and flavorful. The pomodoro was truly excellent and I'd definitely recommend. My other friend enjoyed her agnolotti but found the portion a bit small. While the food was great, it came out within 5 minutes of ordering. The food actually came out before the drinks, which made our experience feel a bit rushed as we waited around 10 minutes for our table. We ended up waiting to eat our food until our drinks came, which were quite potent. We got complimentary biscotti at the end which was sweet and tasty. Overall, I'd recommend this place but the pacing of our meal was subpar for how much the food cost.
Came for a corporate dinner and forgot I had this spot bookmarked for pasta else I would have ordered more pasta, but was very impressed by all the food nonetheless and glad I got to try a bit of their pasta (which was all so tasty). Ended up getting the steak which was cooked medium rare and done properly (not overcooked as it often is). The lava cake was delicious and I also scarfed down all the desserts despite being stuffed from all the delicious apps. Service was good throughout (tho not sure how this translates over since this was a corporate event) and there was a nice private room for us. The restaurant itself was confusing for me to exit due to the random shop on the same floor before you go up.
Visited with a party of 6 to celebrate a birthday. The ambiance is all luxury. An extensive menu and wine list, with a large bar that makes very well balanced drinks. The food was great. The pastas are extremely flavorful, the octopus has a flavor I've never encountered, just amazing. The service is first class with several staff, from the waiter, runner, sommelier and even the manager stopping by the table to ensure we were well taken care of.
Fantastic Italian in Manhattan. Very old school NY. We opted for the decadent duck and foie gras raviolo in brown butter and the squid ink tagliatelle with lobster. Perfectly executed. Great service and super cool vibe in this gem!

The broccolini were crispy and came out quickly. I had the pumpkin gnocchi which was really yummy but more like an orecchiette than a gnocchi. The sauce was delicious. My boyfriend ordered the spaghetti and that sauce was show stopping super light and refreshing probably one of the best spaghettis I've ever tried. Overall great and will be back.
listen, this place is an institution and i've been wanting to go forever. that being said, it was good but i was a bit disappointed. let me explain... friday night with a reservation, the restaurant was crazy crowded and we had to wait maybe only 10 min for our table. not bad, but i heard people complaining after that that they had to wait a looong time even with reservations. perhaps it just happened to be a crazy night. still reservations are a must. the service was great - knowledgeable server, really prompt bussing, and everyone was friendly. no complaints. the food... ok so the main reason we came was for the pasta so we didn't even bother with the other stuff so take that as you will. to be perfectly fair, the flavors of almost all the dishes were spot on and delicious. the spaghetti, as promised, fantastic pomodoro sauce. the pumpkin gnocchi felt like fall in a bowl. the broccolini had a nice char and the potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. but - for an upscale italian restaurant, i expected perfectly cooked pasta. the main reason i was disappointed was that nothing was al dente. the spaghetti was straight up soft. the gnocchi had more bite but was strangely dense. the short rib agnolotti had some bite, but was oddly sweet - that's the one dish the flavors were aids for me. i wanted to be fair on all the good - hence the 4 stars but i think 3.5 is more appropriate. maybe they had an off night, but all 3 pastas had something that needed work.

What an amazing establishment! Well run by staff who very clearly all get along and have great time together! I sat at the bar and loved to see the playful yet professional energy the y had towards each other. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience is cozy and dimly lit. It was somewhat deconstructed with a cake layer, then some cream on top, and cream cheese gelato on the side. Holy moly!! I'd go back for just that. This was my first time here and I had a pleasant experience. My friend made a reservation for us so we were seated promptly. We got: - lychee sgroppino: I liked this! Refreshing not too sweet. - fake tropical: I preferred the lychee drink. This was a little too sweet for me - smoky mango - charred octopus: I really enjoyed this since it wasn't too chewy (unlike some other places). - MILANESE VEAL CHOP: we chose to get this over the branzino and we felt this was the better choice. It came with arugula that was a nice complement - broccolini: this was good! Nothing outstanding but solid - arcanciata trifle: this was a nice refreshing dessert. I came her to celebrate a friend's birthday and I liked Scarpetta. Service was great and the restaurant was beautiful. It's perfect for a date night! We ordered braised short rib, spaghetti, and cappellacci. My favorite dish was the braised short rib. The meat just melted in my mouth and it was seasoned well. It was a smaller dish but it was worth it. Both pastas were great and I didn't have a favorite out of the two. Solid and simple pasta dishes, you can't go wrong. read more
I had an ABSOLUTELY amazing lovely dining experience at this place! I came here with my friend to celebrate birthday and we both loved the overall ambiance (beautiful & calm & modern), all the dishes we ordered, and excellent service (how we were treated like VIP by every staff there). Here is everything we tried (we literally had to eat slow so we could enjoy longer!): 1. SEARED SCALLOPS (7/5) - OMG! SOOO tender! I wish they serve more than two pieces. I would order this every time I decide to go back. Green sauce was really great too. 2. GNOCCHI (6/5) loved the texture of the gnocchi (al dente!). It tasted similar to spaghetti alle Vongole, but much richer. 3. TAGLIOLINI NERO (5/5) - the look of this pasta remind me of tuna tartar. It tasted fresh and unique with subtle spicy kick. Our server mixed the pasta for us! (If you're not a big seafood fan, I would choose other dishes, as it can feel a bit strong.) 4. YOGURT PANNA COTTA (5/5) - This was the perfect desert to end with after eating the full-flavored dishes. The white part tasted like something between a milk pudding and soft whipped cream. Paired so well with peace sorbet. I would LOVE to go back and try other dishes like octopus or fish. This will become my go-to place to celebrate anything special! read more

Traffic was very bad coming in from NJ on a Saturday evening but they held our table for 15 mins. We ordered some cocktails and they were delicious. The food was good. I ordered an ink pasta with red sauce. It had some chili oil which I asked f would be spicy. The waitress said it was not too much. Just be aware if you are sensitive to spice. We ordered varied type of entrees. The duck and angolotti with bone marrow were the highlights. Desserts were very good! The seating is spacious. Tables are not on top of one another. read more

What a great weekend brunch place in the city! There are many options available here to cater vegetarian diet. We started off with a complimentary plate of fresh bread along with olive oil and dips. I am a sucker for a good focaccia bread and it did live up to my expectations! The spaghetti was pretty amazing - the tomato sauce was not too tangy and it was perfectly balanced. Such a simple pasta but it had just the right flavor. We all loved pumpkin gnocchi as well - those truffle on the top!!! We also order almond French toast and it was delish! The orange preserve it came with was not too citrusy which I liked. The service is great and the ambiance is pretty cool! read more

Service was solid our waiter was friendly and attentive, which isn't something you see too often in NYC anymore. Made reservations a month in advance and got to the restaurant and we sat at the high top and passed our reservation time. The bar section is darker than the actual dining room. Our waiter was fantastic, he was a jokster and friendly. We started off with the oysters and the sauce overpowered the oysters. The braised short rib was good but too little. Came to Scarpetta for restaurant week and tried some of the most spectacular dishes on the menu. This restaurant is also so beautiful and situated in an ideal part of the city! I ordered the polenta with mushrooms which was so creamy, smooth, and delicious. I wish it had some sort of chili oil component but other than that it was heavenly. The roast chicken was cooked to perfection. A crispy exterior and a moist interior, that chicken was so good. I also had a chance to try the Cacio Pepe ravioli which was so simple but so delicious. The panna cotta was the highlight of the show. It was such a refreshing dessert and it made for the perfect last bite. For $60 per person Scarpetta is definitely a restaurant I would go to during restaurant week if you have the chance. Portions are on the smaller side too so it definitely makes sense to come during a pri fixe. read more

When it comes to Italian food, I feel like I might be missing something because I almost never feel that a few pieces of stuffed pasta warrants a nearly $40 price tag. I'm not at all saying the food isn't tasty, but I find most restaurant portions for Italian food too precious, the flavors a bit muted, and the overall experience always leaves me feeling like I should've spent my money elsewhere, yet these places are absolutely packed all the time. I tried the famous tomato basil spaghetti here. It's fine. I don't get the hype. The other dishes however, pretty tasty! I let my other dining counterparts at the table order the tomato basil pasta which I tried a taste of, but I wanted something heartier for my main and got the stuffed zucchini and squash blossom pasta. It was totally palatable, but I just went back to the photo I took and counted just 9 pieces of pasta, and it left me wanting much more--especially for $34. Yes I supplemented with plenty of appetizers, including the beet salad, charred octopus, creamed polenta, scallop crudo, and while everything was tasty, the portions were too precious and I was still hungry at the end. The place is beautiful, maybe the sort of place folks go for celebratory meals or power business lunches. The wine list was divine and our servers were really on it. So it's a great dining experience outside the portions really. read more

This was a pretty high end Italian spot I went with my coworkers as a belated holiday party. The service was very nice and attentive - carefully coat checking all our things and explaining in detail everything in the menu. The Stromboli bread which I'm pretty sure is their complimentary bread basket was amazing and paired well with their spread combo of butters, marinara(?), and olive oil. Definitely expect to spend at least $20 on appetizers and $35 on mains. I got the agnolotti because I was intrigued with the short rib and bone marrow combination and the waiter said it was her personal favorite. I am very glad I went with the server recommendation because it tasted so amazing! It was literally having juicy, delicious beef infused inside a ravioli lookin pasta. Some other appetizers to complement the agnolotti were the broccolini and the potatoes - I would not recommend the spaghetti though - a bit bland and smaller portion for something that is $36. I didn't take as many photos as I had wanted to but my experience here was nothing short of spectacular. I had heard great things about this spot and was not disappointed at all. First off, they had a great selection of breads in the beginning, some had some meats, there was focaccia and even a small platter of various toppings and sauces. I opted for the short rib agnolotti and the creamy polenta. I absolutely loved these two dishes and would specifically order the polenta over and over again. It was the perfect balance of richness and creaminess and I just couldn't get enough of it. Our servers were incredible and so patient as my friends and I tried to choose between all the items. This restaurant is on the pricier side so do come prepared to have multiple dishes or share with a group because the dishes are a bit small. Excellent service--we loved our server! He really went above and beyond and was clearly very passionate about their menu/food. The homemade spaghetti was delicious--homemade noodles, simple but high-quality tomato and basil sauce. Yummy bread for the table of various kinds. Relatively easy to make a reservation here--just if you make a reservation for 2:30 they ask you to come 10-15 mins early because they close at 2:30 pm, so be aware of that! I had a really love meal here ages now, that still deserves a 5-star review. Not only was the food delicious but the staff was lovely as well. The duck foie gras ravioli was the star for the show for me. The foie gra is light but pairs with the cream sauce and glaze with a thin pasta casing was perfection. Literally like a soft pillow burst of flavor. I also really loved the bread basket. I haven't seen a bread variety that had melty cheese/salami inside (the 'pizza') and the accompaniment of spread was just so good. The spaghetti reminded me to enjoy the simpler things in life. Something I would not usually order but the noodles were cooked perfectly and the marinara sauce was light, yet you could taste how fresh the tomatoes were and the herb aromatics were there. Food was great but service was a bit odd. We asked for bottled water, but there must have been some miscommunication since a busser came over and filled our glasses with tap water and they still charged us for bottled water. The table next to us ordered still water as well but they gave them sparkling water and they had to ask to have it changed. It seemed like an issue of too many staff and too little communication among them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also, our table was extremely wobbly which really shouldn't happen at an upscale restaurant, however the waiter fixed it for us without us asking when he noticed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As I said the food tasted great but the oysters could have been shucked a bit better as there was shards of shell in nearly every oyster. Went here for Christmas dinner and it was packed. We had to wait for almost 30+ minutes and wasn't offered anything as a service when we had booked a reservation. But besides that, the food and drinks were amazing. The portions look really small but wow was I full after. The buratta is SOOO GOOOD. The pastas were really good I preferred the black squid ink one over the other. read more

Wow LDV Hospitality.... How can the people who hinge their entire hospitality group on Scarpetta, serve pre-processed Sysco type "olives..." Really? The olives are barely edible. The "blue cheese" has sunken so far down inside the olive because it is dried up from having sat in a jar for years. Tastes just like it came from Italy. - NOT... After having lived in Italy, I can say I would never have been served this anywhere in Italy, and I'm surprised that a brand like scarpetta and LDV is willing to put their name on this, especially at the Maidstone in East Hampton.... Dont bother. The taste is subpar and the fees are overpriced. Other than the "romantic" low/dim lighting, i dont understand how places like this justify their prices. This spot is definately for the "trendy" crowd. So dont waste your time and money…
Are the portion sizes big enough at Scarpetta? The food all looks delicious but I personally hate leaving a restaurant, especially since it looks like the prices are on the higher side. Beautiful atmosphere just want to make sure it's enough food.
I'd say the portion is big enough for average people. For your reference, my friend and I ordered one appetizer, two entrees and one dessert, and we were full after the meal. They also serve free bread basket before the meal, and it's delicious.
My son and I will be visiting there soon, and was trying to find out about the dress code. I know that it says dressy attire, but not quite sure what that means. Any help?
I think that business casual is fine. I wore a dress and my friend was in a suit but there were people dressed a little more casual. I think that your son should be fine with a collared shirt and slacks. You can wear dress pants and a nice blouse…
