Framed 56 x 44" digital print, UV laminated with matte finish.
Robert R.

Great first experience with large scale digital printing. Dylan and JP were super helpful with options and also my Photoshop file. They ran test strips to help adjust levels. They produced a 56 x 44" digital print that was laminated with matte UV coating and mounted to an aluminum substrate. They also do framing, so the whole thing was floated in a nice black frame. Would definitely recommend.

This place is awesome I've never thought of getting a copy of my drawings to keep in a portfolio but these guys are amazing! I was worried about my original but they reassured me that it would be fine and it was. The print came out amazing! Bonus was the lil grumpy dog that turns into a wiggle butt when he/she finally comes up to you

This has been my neighborhood print shop for the past few years. I've gotten an entire wall's worth of photos, a di-bond mounted print, an acrylic face-mount, art scans, and fine art prints. Prices and turnaround time are both very reasonable. They're photographers with an artistic eye, and are very helpful if you need advice or proofing for your files.

5 stars for Scale Up. I've been a customer for a few years, always excellent quality, service, and super easy to work with. For the last project, I sent them a photo of one painting that needed to be printed. JP got back to me and said he cleaned up the image a little bit and fixed the color as well. That was actually a non-trivial amount of work that any other place wouldn't do, but for ScaleUp that was perfectly normal. Multiple times when I screwed up somewhere, the size or the aspect ratio, or the image was imperfect, or resolution or the choices of materials/finish I made that weren't great, every time JP came back with a good recommendation and fixed my own mistakes. They really care about the final product not just "do whatever and collect the money". With any online printing service, I don't think that would be the case. And I've always been happy with the prints made here, impressive quality. (getting to pet Billy, the Pomeranian when you visit them is just the icing on the cake :)

Scale Up is my go to fine art printer in San Francisco. Dylan and JP make prints in a timely manner with professional courtesy and attention to detail. They print iPad drawings for me from digital images on paper and metal. They advised what app to have for better resolution of images which was crucial. The printing on metal does better with darker stronger colors, not pale ones. You must get their explanation for the border cropping of the image for the size metal plate you choose if you want bleed to the edges. If their printing costs more than an online mass printing service, there's a good reason for it - they do a better job. Honestly, the printed images on paper look exactly like the images you see on the screen. The inks and paper are top quality. If you are not an expert yourself on digital printing and dpi (I am not), ask them to explain - you can learn from them how to give them the best file. My photos are snaps of the prints taken with iPhone, not the digital files.

The first 2 prints of my photography I had done by Scale Up Art.

Long over due but better late than never. Dylan was EXTREMELY helpful and kind and we spent a ton of time making sure I was comfortable with the final Product. He even did some Test prints on different papers and taught me so much in regards to my photography printing. Super knowledgeable guy! Go Dylan!

great work guys!

The frames that they came in were quite bad, so now ay was I going to hang them up on our walls as we decorate. Originally we went somewhere else, but it took them 3 weeks to figure out a frame we wanted was out of stock and they just didn't seem that professional or knowledgeable in what they suggested, so we went here instead. I spent plenty of time on Fillmore street and came in before to buy some picture frames and liked the store, it had a great selection of a wide range of frames and they handle real art, so fear not if you have expensive paintings they will be handled with care. So we brought both pieces in and spent about an hour figuring out the frames. The owner was there and spent time helping us and giving great suggestions but not pushing anything we didn't need. The other place tried to get us to buy museum glass which is really pricey and not necessary, she told us flat out it's not going to make a difference for us since there is not direct sun or glare on the piece. The selection was great, lots of wood frames, lots of textures and styles for everyone and definitely quality and elegance in everything. We love love love our finished products, it's like we have new art in the house! While the price was slightly higher than the first place we went, it's well worth it for your nice art pieces and things that make a statement.

One of the staff (an asian woman- didnt' get her name) was so nice to help me find the exact colors I needed and patiently explained the sales and discount pricing for the huge aisle of liquitex acrylic paints. Then when I got to the counter (albeit really overwhelmed by too many choices) Jayy was at the counter and smiled and was a calm beacon to my shopping anxiety and confusion - with only like 20? minutes left until closing time! She painstakingly helped me look at each of the colors my art teacher wanted me to get and helped me choose two paint sets that I could afford that met my criteria for both watercolor and for acrylics. Jayy sat there patiently scanning and calculating all the different permutations of paints and even gave me advice about what colors to get now vs maybe later when I save more money up! She even helped me maximize my discount and coupons. WOW. Jayy was so knowledgeable about the colors and types of paints I needed and this AMAZING experience was why I was SO GLAD I went iN PERSON to the store! thank you thank you Jayy for making my shopping experience so much less stressful!!!

The staff there was able to do this while I waited, and even popped the print and mat back against the glass where it had not been done correctly on one of the prints. And the most unbelievable thing of all, they refused to charge me for any of it. While I was waiting, I could see another member of the staff helping another customer with various options in framing some prints and they were so patient and helpful. The funny thing is I almost went to another frame shop a bit closer to home that I've been to before, but decided to try a new place since the other one had sort of lackluster customer service. Underglass has definitely earned its place as the future spot where I will definitely be going to for all of my framing needs. Can't recommend this place enough!

I am a huge fan of rainbow, and they have an impressive amount of rainbow-array of options. I paid more for the matting and framing here than at another frame shop in SoMa, but the I think the value is fair for the amount of work going into them. I looked around my neighbourhood to find a place nearby since it looked like my regular store had shut down. I couldn't find *anything* nearby but Frame123 wasn't too far out and looked near where my previous store was. I texted the shop owner and while it took a few days to get an appointment set up, it was entirely reasonable and within the same week. I headed on down at the appointed time and imagine my surprise when I found that this new shop was located in the exact same spot as the previous shop I used to go to! When I walked in, I recognized the owner as the same guy (and he asked me if I'd been there before as well). Apparently this new shop is the same guy, same stock, everything as before, except new name! I was so happy because I've loved all his previous work before and the prices are good. I spent some time with the owner, working through different mat and frame options for the two pieces I brought in and between his opinion and my tastes, we got both of them worked out pretty quick. I'm still waiting to pick them up (but it's only been a week and well within the estimate I was given) but I trust that they'll look amazing.
