Gross. No gloves or clean practice when handling food

. After telling the manager that the employee handling my food wiped her nose bare handed and then served me, she asked me what I want. I said I want new items and for her to wash her hands. She barked at me "she already did". Which was a lie. And then she told me she was refusing my service and to "get lost". I'm appalled and will not stop reporting this until local agencies step in. Not the first time for observing health hazards. Nobody uses gloves. They touch their hair, the broom, etc and then go to food handling. Absolutely disgusting.

We ordered arancini to start and they were excellent! Nice crispy outer shell and the cheese inside was gooey and very flavorful. We ordered the stratacuzzi (spelling?) which wa sin the specials menu. It was mild and had bits of broccoli rabe and sausage. It was excellent! I asked our server if it was homemade and he said they do make the pasta in house, wow! Delicious! We also ordered chicken parm which truthfully was some of the best we've ever tasted. We also shared the onion pizza which was on the specials menu. It was ok. I think it may have been a bit overdone. The pistachio ricotta cake was good. The crust was a bit overdone. This will definitely be in our list of places to come back to when we're back in Savannah!

Ordered the arancini appetizer.. Would give that a 5/5 and it was better than the arancini we had in Sicily. Split 3 entrees among us three and it was the perfect amount of food. Ordered the chicken parm, strozzapretti pasta dish, and the special menu had an onion bechamel pizza. The chicken parm and strozzapretti were amazing. The strozzapretti had broccoli rabe and it and it was really well done. Sometimes when broccoli rabe isn't cooked right it gets bitter but that wasn't the case. Chicken parm was perfect. Onion pizza wasn't anything special and couldn't really taste the bechemel. Had the pistachio ricotta pie and the filling was great but the crust was overcooked. I would definitely try a different dessert if I came back. Bill was $250 with a bottle of wine and 2 cocktails which I felt was very decent. Can't wait to come back !

It was also really interesting how you didn't have one singular server, but instead, they all rotated and checked on you continuously. It was not traditional, but it worked very well. Maybe other restaurants should take note lol! Food was so incredibly fresh, pasta was hot. It was amazing. The only negative about the food is that they don't make their bread or desserts. It was shipped in from a central factory (and you could tell compared to how fresh everything else was). I also wish they had a fountain beverage station. Every drink you'd need to get was in a bottle in a big coke cooler. This place is definitely very small (I think they would benefit from making their shelving areas where they sell their pasta, smaller, and putting in more tables instead). You could also tell there wasn't enough room in the back for the employees because I was waiting in line for the restroom and had to move multiple times because the servers come in and out of there. There's only one little tiny restroom in the back corner. It was also really cool how you could see everything being made in the back. There was a whole factory behind a glass window where they were making the pasta fresh. It was amazing!! The building needs a facelift but everything else was AMAZING!!

So, after moving to GA recently, we decided to go back for my birthday. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the old Italian look of this place. We could not have asked for a better table location as we were all the way in the back and tucked away in the corner, very private and romantic. The only issue is the circular coach seating was worn out, and I knew with bad back I might in for an uncomfortable night. The service itself was professional, but not very friendly. While most staff members seemed to smile and appeared to be enjoying themselves, our waiter acted like he did not want to be there. As for the food, it just did not measure up to the past, as there was 1 great dish, 1 OK dish, 1 not so good and 1 just bad. We started out strong with Denver Lamb Ribs with a sweet Ginger soy sauce glaze. Easily the best rib dish we ever had. We debated on our next dish between the Lobster Cocktail or Stone Crab Claw and unfortunately went for the Crab as it had years since we had some. We both agreed the Crab meat did not seem fresh as it was mushy and the sauce lacked the tang of a traditional Stone Crab sauce. We both ordered the Crispy Scored Flounder as that is the reason we came here in the 1st place. The dish is a Flounder, that is scored on both sides into easy chunks to eat, with and Apricot Shallot Sauce. Overall, it was an OK dish, but not as good as either of us remembered as it could have used more sauce on top of the fish. We finished up with a poorly executed Bourbon Pecan pie. This dish looked (see picture) and tasted not much different than a Little Debbie pie you buy in boxes of 10 at the grocery store. This small round piece of pie had zero Bourbon sauce or flavor whatsoever. The dish seemed so out of place both looking and tasting, that I went to see what others posted on yelp, and what we were served didn't even come close to previous dinners experiences. Not a great way to end my birthday dinner.

The chandelier made from wine bottles really stood out and added a lot of character. There's only one restroom shared by men and women, but considering how old the restaurant is, that was understandable. Inside, you can clearly feel the cozy, authentic Italian restaurant vibe. The server was friendly and attentive. Many of the guests were tourists like us, and the staff seemed to make an effort to provide quick and efficient service. I didn't try the mac and cheese myself, but my daughters absolutely loved it. I ordered a dish with fettuccine, and while it looks very simple, the flavor was excellent. The Pasta Primavera tasted like it was made with fresh, just-picked spring vegetables, very fresh and well prepared. If you are in downtown Savannah, I definitely recommend stopping by this place.

Unfortunately, my experience last night left a bad taste in my mouth. We were seated in the lower dining room. Everything was going well with good service and delicious drinks... and then I spotted a cockroach crawling under our table. Of course, we are in the south & I am willing to overlook the odd roach here and there. However, when a second one emerged from the hallway, my confidence that this was just a one-off incident tanked. By the time our food arrived, our focus had been diverted to be on roach alert. Unfortunately, the food also missed the mark--overly salty and bland at the same time. None of this aligns with The Public I know and love, so I am really hoping this was just an off night. Might be taking a break from this place for a while.
