Food was good but they over charged twice and did not take accountability for messing up the tab. We wanted to split the check and we were charged the whole check and then partial and charged half of the check on the 2nd card. Manager was talking over us while we were trying to explain the charges are showing on bank account. She stated it happens often but there's no way to fix the issue. Call back in a few days after bank shows it's still processed so she can Zelle the money back. Made it seem like it was our fault. Will not go there again. read more

This is the real deal. The sushi is always fresh and there are many other food items for people who are not into sushi including hibachi meals (they do not cook in front of you but it is still very delicious). They have a huge screen that they will light up for birthday announcements. Service is attentive. They are able to handle relatively large groups. Of course, it is more expensive than the AYCE places, and if you are planning on taking 10 teenaged boys, definitely make sure you look at the prices so you know what you are getting yourself into, price wise!!! We had a great time and dinner! Real fresh sashimi, toro, sushi roll, oysters, and sea urchins/uni were masterly made and ridiculously delicious. We ordered mostly raw seafood this time, and they were noticeably fresh, then it got perfect together with warm sake. Uni drink shots and the oysters were our favorites. Next time 1 go, I'll try some of their cooked dishes, but will still have some fresh sushi for sure. Friendly staffs and of course I like that the meal was fairly priced. I came to this place on my birthday. The waitress went out of her way to make sure we got all of the sauces we wanted with our to go boxes. She also went through great lengths to take birthday photos for us. The Sunset Roll is an absolute a hit if you're looking for recommendations. The atmosphere is a 10 out of 10. Unfortunately we were very excited to visit this establishment as we just moved to Milford . We love sushi and were so happy to check out this new sushi restaurant around 5 pm on Sunday . We walked in and they seated our party of four and gave us menus We sat for about 10 mins waiting. The restaurant did look some what busy and the waiter did look overwhelmed . The couple that came after us was seated to our left . They were able to get their drinks and order their food . At one point my husband tried to stop the waiter and gestured that we were ready to order And he said he would be right with us . Another 5-10 mins pass and nothing . We never got to order or even get water for the table . It didn't look like they were working as a team or trying to help one another . It was very disappointing. We politely left . Once they saw we were leaving , they asked why ? And I explained we were waiting for over 15 mins and haven't even received water . People that came after us were getting drinks and better service . It was a Very unfortunate experience. For a new business, just starting , this should never happen. read more

We ate at Sayori last night and had some really great dishes! My husband got the Basil Chicken, my daughter and I split a noodle dish and we also ordered calamari as our app and then 3 sushi rolls. Everything was super yummy! The service was a little slow, but once our food came out we understood why... everything was so fresh! And we also arrived at the restaurant late in the evening because we were driving from Maryland to New Haven... and so we really didn't know what to expect. The ambiance is really cool with a giant wall of an aquatic scene but the music that goes along with the scene was a little much... maybe change it up a little and probably turn it down a bit... kind of reminded us of one of those things you stick in a baby's crib that just repeats itself. I've never written a bad review before, but after my first truly uncomfortable experience ever, I feel it's necessary to share. I came here for the ambiance, especially after seeing many influencers call this place one of the "hidden gems" in Connecticut. The pictures looked interesting, food seemed good looking, but the reality was disappointing. The digital projection that seemed to be a key feature was underwhelming, and it was only enjoyable if you sat at the wall it was projected onto. Beyond that, the space was simply a medium-sized, dull room with tables--nothing special compared to to the overhyped videos and photos of this place. The overall environment felt incredibly uncomfortable. The music playing in the corner was almost muted for some reason, and while there were a few tables nearby with people talking, the atmosphere remained painfully quiet. I considered leaving the moment we were seated, but we stayed to give the food a chance as that's really what we were there for. Unfortunately, both our orders were really bland-- something I've honestly never experienced at any restaurant. To top it off, I noticed that all of our plates and bowls were chipped (and I don't notice these kinds of things at all). I also ordered a margarita, which I thought would make up for the food, but funnily enough, no-- it tasted like juice... Given the price, it came in a small, standard glass--nothing special, honestly, as if I could have made it myself at home. What was even more unsettling was the behavior of our server. Looking back now, she was always close by and may have been listening in on our conversation or closely analyzing our reactions. When we asked for the check, she questioned why my boyfriend hadn't touched his scallops and why I left some food on my plate. She even asked if he didn't like them (he cleared his plate, except for a few scallops he was done with, and I left half my food because I was planning to ask for a box out of politeness). She repeated the question, this time more aggressively. My boyfriend became flustered so I told her we were fine and just asked for the check and a box. I'm not sure if the passive-aggressive behavior was intentional or just the norm here, but either way, I won't be returning. After reading some other reviews about waiters chasing down customers to ask why they didn't tip enough, it seems like this might be how things are done here. I'm disappointed that we spent nearly $100 on food that left us still hungry, and the interaction with the waiter was crazy to say the least. I also felt terrible for not leaving a tip, as I always do, but I didn't feel it was deserved after such a horrible experience. In summary, don't be swayed by the videos/photos about this place-- don't come here unless you want to spend a lot of money on mediocre food and possibly get a rude waiter. Finally a true sushi bar in the area. Proved that freshness is key when I order the japanese uni (not cheap)and the chef said no due to quality. Immediately followed it up with a fresh sea scallop served over lemon and japanese mint. On the house by the way and it was delicious. Ordered all over the menu and it was divine. We decided to try the latest sushi place in town and they certainly did not disappoint! We arrived early in a cold wintery Saturday and were seated immediately at the sushi bar. I ordered a sake sangria which had a nice pour and was fruity and tasty without being too sweet. We then ordered the spicy edamame as an appetizer (messy but yummy) and four rolls: The filet mignon, SNS, fire and ice and my usual "if all else fails at least I know I like it", the sweet potato roll. And wow! These rolls were creative and delicious! Our favorite was the SNS roll with the sweetness of the pineapple really adding to the salmon. I was also impressed at the skill and speed of the chefs who were banging out amazing creations in this very busy evening. We ended the meal with fried ice cream which was divine as well! I would like to give 4.5 stars. Went on a Wed night and the place was clean, open and perfectly lit for dinner ambiance. Our table enjoyed the Miso soup that came with the hibachi dinner and the salad was good as well. (Filet, salmon, chicken...all were good!) Veggies and fried rice also perfectly presented and tasted great. The other tables we saw folks also getting sushi rolls and sashimi. They looked fantastic and very nicely presented. Will try one of those next visit They don't have hibachi tables. And this is a very nice change of pace. It allowed for us to talk amongst ourselves without the fan-fare of the chef cooking in front of us and doing a show. And another benefit is that there was not the loudness associated with other hibachi tables. (Hibachi tables are nice. I am not disparaging them) Another nice thing was that the dessert menu had 5 or 6 options! We enjoyed fried banana, green tea creme brulee and chocolate decadence cake couple with a perfectly steeped cup of green tea. We will certainly go again. read more

I would have given 5 stars if they didn't charge me $13 for a small glass of Pinot Grigio. To be fair I didn't look at the wine list, I just asked for a glass of Pinot Grigio assuming they would bring me the house Pinot, they did have a $9 brand that I noticed after I got the bill, they brought me their most expensive Pinot brand at $13 a glass without asking me what brand i preferred. Overall it was a very pleasant experience, the food, the service and the ambience was excellent, just pay attention if you're a wine drinker, they'll bring you their most expense glass if you're not specific, i found this in poor taste, I may not go back. read more

Food was horrible fried rice tasted like it was smoked flavor and because the waitress "didn't understand I wanted fried rice instead of white rice and after I asked "how much extra for fried rice, I was directly told $2.00 extra" when my bill came they charged me $24 for 2 fried rice, and I had ordered a habachi steak and shrimp I was waiting for my dinner and it never came my daughter was done with hers and when I asked the waitress where is my dinner she said NO you ordered only fried rice and soup I said well that's funny because you asked how I wanted my steak cooked. The manager came over and all he did was make me the steak and shrimp "on the house" which I basically paid for anyway because they charged me the $24 for fried rice. I will never go there again, I should not have to pay for her mistake and the habachi was awful. The sushi and other things did look tasty. But if they are going to do business like that NO NO NO. read more
