In this case, I would give 0 stars but the receptionist and cashier were nice and accommodating. I was a customer with Sawyer and my lease on an Equinox was expiring at the end of the calendar year 2023. I contacted my sales agent with whom I had a good relationship, treating me fairly on my last contract. My interest was in a Chevy Trax. He informed me that inventory was low and I would be better served on leasing another Equinox. He also suggested contacting GM Financial - my leaseholder and requesting an extension with the hope that January interest rates or deals would be more beneficial. It was simple to extend the lease - just make a payment. I did that. I also continued my research. The prevailing theme or strategy was push the Equinox until I found Al Serra In Grand Blanc. Completed the purchase on a new Trax, primarily on the phone, and made the drive, turned in my Equinox and drove away with the new Trax. I returned my lease at the dealership where I purchased the Trax and received the final odometer statement. Next -wait for the final invoice from GM Financial. It took 6 weeks and had incorrect information including not giving credit for my extra payment which should have been refunded. I turned in the car before my original contract expiration date. The GM call center is a nightmare. After several calls, they informed that I needed to retrieve my payment from the original dealer - Sawyer. I went there and explained my issue with the receptionist. She directed me to the cashier who subsequently led me to the corner office and someone who I believe introduced himself as Dave. I may have misunderstood ( I don't think so but benefit of the doubt) and we began what can only be described as one of the most unprofessional meetings I've experienced. With 40 years in the consumer products industry, directing a national salesforce and working with the all the major national retailers, I've had some bad meetings. This was not the worst but ranks up there. I explained my situation and he seemed immediately upset. In fact, I asked him why he was getting so emotional. He became confrontational called the dealer I turned the car into a "dirt bag company" ( another GM dealer) and that he doesn't have my car. My response was I'm only telling you what GM Financial told me. His response "you're not getting a dime out of me". No money was asked for only clarification. He continued to say that my contract expired on Dec. 30 and it was turned in on Dec. 30, you owe for the next month. You have to turn it in before the date otherwise you owe for the next month. My response, so even though I don't have the car and turned it in, GM Financial says you received it, you just keep my money? Followed by - that can't be true. I said "you realize I'm a customer". His response - you're not getting anything from us - call a lawyer. This person, Duane Earl, is the new car manager but lacks any skill or talent in dealing with his customers -in my opinion. They missed out on additional business because I directed my brother to another dealership and he's leasing 2 vehicles. My sister is also looking and currently has a Chevy product. His attitude, tactics and unprofessionalism just cost Sawyer 3 potential new customers. If you're reading this - take it as a warning. read more

I have to say, this was the worst buying experience ever. i purchased a used Traverse and it had three issues, two were fixed and then one of the three issues came back, so the service department told me to take it to a body shop, which I did, and there was over $2,8000 worth of issues. I met the sales manager, Craig, and he agreed both verbally and in my follow up email, that he would have the issues fixed. Twice I took my car to Sawyers per our agreement to be taken to their body shop and twice Craig didn't get it fixed... and had the audacity to say the issues were "better" even though the multiple areas I showed him were not fixed! after 7 times going to Sawyers, I asked Craig to meet with him and his manager (Robert) and Craig emails me to tell me that he spoke to Robert and they are no longer going to do the good faith fix to the Traverse and they will pay me back what I paid, minus tax, tags and documents fees... for those shopping for a vehicle, I do not recommend Sawyers, the worst customer service and buying experience I have ever had... and I am out a car until I find another one... . read more

Worst experience ever as a result of Bob Sawyers, the General Manager. I am a GM retiree of 38 years and have purchased and leased vehicles my entire life. On May 26, 2022, we brought our new vehicle home only to see a large gouge and scratches on the hood. We called the salesman right away that day and also sent him pictures of it. He said that he would bring it to his management's attention (i.e. Bob Sawyers) and get back to us on a resolution. This took several days. They offered to have a person take a look at it who they use for paint touch ups. However, we'd have to wait a week. The gouge was deep through all two paint surfaces and one clear top coat. The dealership is fifty miles from our home. The day of the appointment, they called and said the man wasn't coming. We had to wait another Friday. In the interim, we got an opinion from a local person who said that the damage could NOT be touched up but rather the hood should be repainted or replaced. We called our salesman to tell him this but he said they would want their paint person to look at it. So we drove back to Sawyers. We learned from their paint person, Salvador, that he could not fix this gouge without still seeing it. It would never blend in as the paint was a tri color process. Plus, we learned that he doesn't touch up new vehicles so our trip was a waste. We asked to speak to their management, Bob Sawyers. He was indignant and defensive and said that we should have let them know within 24 hrs of obtaining the car. We said we DID phone his salesman two hrs after bringing the car home on May 26, and also sent photos of the damage. He ignored our requests for any sort of resolution. He didn't even apologize for having wasted our time and did not offer any sort of compensation. He was unsympathetic, condescending and rude. So now we have to live with this damage on this brand new $35k 2022 GM Chevy Equinox. We would never go back to Sawyers Superstore after this experience. No customer should ever be treated like this. read more

We found a 2014 Chevy Pickup at this dealership that was what we were looking for. I called and talked with Tyler and he said it was still there and I said we might drive down to look at it. My wife and I drove the 90 mile and Tyler had the truck out front and came out with the key to unlock and look it over. It was very clean and just what we wanted. I ask him what my 2016 Nissan Frontier 4x4 would be worth in trade. He went inside and came out shortly and said: He couldn't give me a trade price unless I was going to commit to buy today, per his boss, the Sales Manager. How can you commit to buy anything, if you don't know what they are giving you in trade ??? Tyler apologized, but said he was under orders. I have been a salesman for over 44 years and never heard of this approach. This Sales Manager needs to go back to sales training and learn how to treat a customer. I would have given this dealer a 1 star, except for the good job done by Tyler. However, I will not be dealing with this dealer and would advise others, like wise. Don P. read more

Update to my previous review. They have redeemed themselves! They had a company come over and replace the entire DVD system and was able to fix the chip that occurred. They also provided me with a loaner vehicle so I was not inconvenienced. The manager was very apologetic, professional and made it happen. I took my car in for an oil change and possible brakes (I am a woman, and have an out of state phone number). I got a call from the service advisor telling me that after driving my car (a manual transmission with 84,000 miles) to listen to the brakes they heard a "distinctive sound" coming from the transmission and determined that I needed a whole new transmission...to the tune of $4300. I felt serious pressure to make a decision, so I told him to go ahead and order it, even though I have never had a single problem with my transmission in the 7 years since I bought it brand new (and neither did anyone else that had driven it). After thinking it through, I called back and left a message for him telling him to hold off so that I could get a second opinion. I also called and talked to the service manager, who told me he was going to talk to the mechanic and call me back (he never did call me back). The service writer called me, and I again told him to not order the transmission, that I wanted to get another opinion. At this point (not BEFORE asking me to come up with $4300), he offered to call and see if he could get GM to honor part of my powertrain warranty as I was still under the mileage, even though I was over on years. I told him that's fine, but I would pick my car up after work. The following day, I took my car to a REPUTABLE transmission shop for a second opinion. They checked to see if there were any codes (there were NONE), and they put it up on the hoist. They found NO PROBLEMS with my transmission. None. Zip. After reading other reviews and talking to some people at work, I see that this appears to be a theme with the service department at Sawyers. Sawyers has without a doubt lost my business. I can't say that they intentionally tried to scam me, but it sure feels that way. read more

Came in to buy a used truck, the salesman was great. However when we started to try and negotiate price he called the used car manager who told him that we could ether pay sticker price or next time we come in it would be $1,000 more for the truck. It's one thing to explain why the price is not negotiable it's another thing entirely to be a dick about it. I laughed said good luck selling it for that and walked out. you guys just lost another customer to Carvana I won't be back. you can have the beat sales people in the world but with shit management like this you will continue to lose customers. read more

I dropped off my car two weeks ago for a key replacement, I was not provided a car rental, two weeks without a vehicle. They did not have a rental available. I call every 3 days to figure out when the GM keys would be delivered... still waiting. I can't get a rental, I am without a vehicle and all they can do is say, I apologize. Never going to take a vehicle for service to Sawyers. Not customer focused, not satisfied with two week wait time.. still no fix, I think I may have to tow vehicle to another dealership...I was advised I still owe them $89 for diagnosis fee... what a joke!!! read more

They sold my daughter (a first time buyer) a car with balding front tires one of which exploded while she was driving about 25 mph. Thankfully she wasn't in a more precarious situation when it happened. Went to change the tire to discover it had locked lugnuts on the car and they didn't include the key so I had to have the car towed and replace both front tires on essentially a new purchase. My daughter called to discuss with them and they offered her "heartfelt sympathies" for the additional expenses. That's it. Sent emails and left messages to discuss further and no response. As part of the oil change, I was given a safety inspection. Part of this included washer fluid and washer spray. Neither of these were working. The washer fluid was completely empty and therefore nothing would spray out. This was NOT refilled as part of the oil change and was checked as green on the safety inspection. I will NEVER go back to the dealership because they can NOT be trusted. It would have cost $2.00 in fluid but I guess it wasn't worth their time nor my actual safety since they lied on the form. I can't trust them for anything else since they can't be trusted for something so small. At this point I don't even know if they REALLY did the oil change or tire rotation. read more

No Service Service Center. My wife and I broke down while traveling to our family for Christmas right across the street from this dealer. Asked them if they could replace an alternator, and service girl said we can't even look at it for two weeks. Of course, three service guys were leaning on the counter. Asked her if she could recommend another repair facility nearby, since we were 200 miles from home. She stated she could not, and the repair would cost about $700. Absolutely had no interest in helping us. Found another repair facility up the road, who sent a tow truck, and got us on the road in three hours for 1/2 the cost. Wouldn't recommend this dealership to my worst enemy. read more

Great service and fast oil change. But I had a question about my leased vehicle that has only been leased just over 1 year and has 20,000 miles on it. The service rep told me that I can bring in my car if I am having sporadic trouble with it (it feels like the back wheels are popping off the ground or I am accelerating too fast when I leave a complete stop or slow down at a yield and then speed up again). If I bring it in, she told me, and they do not find anything wrong with it, I will be charged a fee. She said the best thing would be to bring it in when the incident occurs. I can't guarantee that I can do that as I work or you may be closed. I never had this comment said to me in the past. I keep bringing my vehicle in so this is on record for when the car has over 36,000 miles on it and whatever is wrong with it finally goes, I won't have to pay for it. I HATE my Traverse. Worst decision I ever made was to trade my Equinox in for this car. Unfortunately, I leased it and have 2 years left. :( I may have to take my vehicle up to Bee's Chevy in St. Johns for future repair/problems. They have never charged me to run diagnostics on vehicles under warranty. read more

I purchased what I was led to believe was a certified pre-owned vehicle from this location. The salesman, Matt, told us as we were signing all the paperwork that we could get our "free" oil changes anywhere in the country bc it's certified. Well, I just took it in for my first oil change to a different dealership, and they notify me that it's not certifed pre-owned, but that maybe the paperwork was submitted incorrectly. I call Sawyers and speak with Craig the used car sales manager. He says he'll look into it, and give me a call back. This is at 9am on a Thursday morning. He never calls back. I call again at 9am on Friday morning. Craig proceeds to tell me that the folder says "certified" and a couple other items in the deal say "certified", but that nowhere on my paperwork does it state that the vehicle was certified pre-owned, and then tries to give me some bs about how because they discounted the vehicle $1200, that the first thing to go was the "Certified" portion (remember that his salesman told me it was certified as I was signing the paperwork). This place obviously has terrible customer service, and Craig, the used car sales manager doesn't really care that his salespeople blatantly lie to the customers. I will never purchase another thing from this location, and will never have any maintenance done on my vehicle from this location. They are your basic used car sales scum. A call to the BBB may be in order. I'd stay away if I were you. read more
