Let me start by saying I do not like adding apps to my phone but I put this Yelp app on my phone just so I can post this review. The staff was nice. Unfortunately that can't make up for the dishonest act they tried to pull on me. I spent roughly $2,800 to get a new transmission put in my truck and while I had it in there I asked them to do my inspection. And they got back to me a couple days later and they didn't even start the transmission. They called me to tell me that my truck needed a bunch of work in order to pass inspection. They told me my brake system was essentially garbage. They said I needed a new calipers, rotors, brake pads all around the vehicle, and that I needed backing plates on the front. And they wanted to charge me $1,900 to do it. So I told them I would do it myself and bring it in later. Out of all of the things they told me I "needed", The real kicker is that you don't need backing plates to pass inspection. In other words, my truck could have been inspected and passed that day they called me and told me I needed to pay $1,900 in order for my truck to be good enough to pass inspection. I will attach pictures that show you my rotor thickness and my brake pad thickness. Again, these are things they told me I needed to replace. My rotors we're almost new. My front brake pads we're still above 8 mm. A my rear brake pads were just above 5 mm. Which is low. But still passing for inspection. I replaced them anyway. But I could have gone another couple months without replacing them if I wanted to. I realize this could be an isolated incident with one mechanic out of the many that work there. Like I said I've dealt with polite staff members. And they seem knowledgeable. Unfortunately this act was a bit too dishonest to overlook. And to be completely honest, it makes me question whether or not my transmission was done right. How do I know that my transmission was not a small cheap fix but they charged me for the most expensive fix possible? This is something I have to live with now. And it makes me pretty pissed off. Because of that I will not trust ever going there again. In this day and age were you have a bunch of do-it-yourselfers especially with YouTube video showing you how to do everything. The only thing keeping the mechanic industry alive is honesty. I will honestly say I would rather overpay for an honest mechanic then get work done by dishonest a cheap mechanic. But these guys were expensive AND dishonest. it's unfortunate because they do seem like nice people. Especially the lady at the counter. And I have spoken to other people who have had half-decent experiences with them. But in the past week, as I have shared my story with other people. I've also found out there's a lot more people that have had extremely disappointing interactions with them. Calling them, con artists and thieves. I hope this review help someone. My transmission seems to be working fine. And that's the main reason I went there. I will keep you posted if anything happens. The only good thing to come out of this is my transmission came with a 2-year 24000 mile warranty. So luckily if anything does go wrong, I can get it fixed for free in that time frame. But I promise you I am going to another ACDelco dealer and not sawchuk's when that happens. Thank you for reading this. read more

I'm a fairly knowledgeable person when it comes to car repairs, and I have done my own work in the past -- oil changes, brake jobs, even replaced a clutch and a leaky rear seal myself -- but there are times when you need to turn to someone with the right tools and the skills to match. I did business with Sawchuck's for the first time in June 2018 after a disappointing experience with the local Chevy dealer who failed two times in a row to correctly repair the transmission in my 2008 Chevy Impala, So I took the car to Sawchuck's instead, and they repaired the transmission correctly and also replaced the power steering pump and the rack & pinion assembly which were also in need of repair. Best thing of all is that they got it right the first time! Fast forward to January 2019 the "new" power steering pump Sawchuck's installed 6 months ago started to make noise and I took the car back to have them take a look at it. They determined that the "new" pump had indeed gone bad and replaced it at no charge for parts or labor under their 1-year warranty. The lesson learned is that it's false economy when the authorized dealer can't get it right, and charges you multiple times for the same repair, and still can't get it right. While Sawchuck's is not the least expensive shop in the area they more than make-up for in their expertise and ability to take-on repairs the other guys (even the dealers) can't get right. read more

Finally found a garage that will do work and won't rip you off. Have gone here for repairs and inspection. They are good at repairs and stand behind them. They don't say things need to be replace if it doesn't. They showed me the part that had to be replaced. I would recommend this place to any one. Frank Bender read more

Had a transmission rebuilt by Sawchucks on my SUV. A few weeks later upon doing an oil change, I noticed trans fluid leaking from the transmission fill/ bleeder plug. Took it back and had it checked/refilled. About one month later a front seal blew and made a big mess. I had it towed back to Sawchucks and it was repaired. After about 30K mile the trans blew completely. Took it back to Sawchucks and was told it needed to be torn down again but now out of warranty which I understood, however, they were unable to meet me at least half way on yet another repair. Do yourself a favor and do not allow them to service your transmission. They are incompedent. This transmission rebuild cost me over $3200.00. read more

They definitely know their stuff are honest and fair as well. We had several other places try to find the problem with our daughter's car. They had the car for a few days and determined the problem and fixed the car, ita been running great since. Not what they used to be. Had a front end alignment on my pickup. Turned into a several hundred dollar job and drove out worse than when I took it there. I went back and they checked it and said all the numbers matched on the alignment machine. Forget that it drove horrible. It's all about the numbers. I just went to a local mechanic for something else,and he said -wow, look at your front tires, they are tilting way out (camber). Now I need to go somewhere else to fix what they did. read more

I initally thought I was bringing my car into this great shop where the owner and the employees would take great care of my vehicle and get the job done in a timely manner. I was continually calling and asking about the status of my car and no answer was given. I finally went down to the shop, my car was finally done and when I went to pay the owner turned down a payment plan that was intially offered to me. This company is a bunch of cruks! They lure you in and then when payment time comes all they do is want to get you out of there and get the payment done with. read more

Sawchucks is the best garage around. The staff is extremely nice and welcoming. My family and I have bringing our cars (including my fathers company cars) here for the past several years. They are one of the most honest shops. They also understand that people need their cars back as soon as possible, so they are always working as fast but thorough as possible. The mechanics always explain everything in full detail, even in lamaence terms if need be. I highly recommend this shop to everyone! read more

Having been a customer of Sawchuk's for many years, I felt that it is about time I contribute my review of the company. The quality at Sawchuk's is first rate and they stand behind their work. On one occasion years ago, Sawchuk's did some work on our old Jeep Cherokee and it had a minor recurring engine problem when we got it back. Sawchuk's took the car back and worked on it tirelessly for a day or two until it was right and didn't charge us a cent. On another occasion I had Sawchuk's install a new exhaust system on my truck from the resonator on back. Shortly thereafter a loud annoying rattle ensued, which was inspired at certain RPMs of the big diesel six cylinder engine. For several months I was trying to isolate the cause of the annoying sound, to no avail. Then one day I isolated the rattling sound to the muffler that Sawchuk's had installed many months previous. Apparently a baffle had worked loose inside the new muffler, and hidden from view, the noise was extremely hard to isolate. When I approached Sawchuk's about the rattling noise, they immediately took on the challenge. They removed the muffler and acknowledged that it was indeed the source of the noise. Sawchuk's then replaced the muffler and tail pipe assembly, again not charging me a cent! While their prices can induce an "ouch" response at times, especially when working on my old larger vehicles, in the end I know I'm usually getting what I've paid for. Yes .. there was the time that they lost my registration card in the office/shop shuffle, and required some running around on my part, but Sawchuk's did everything he could to ease that minor pain. In the end, it's the quality of the work that matters. Whether it's my one ton dually, or my Miata, Sawchuk's is proficient on both. read more

I bring my company car to them on a regular basis(sometimes in a pinch with zero notice) and they always go above and beyond for me. They never disappoint that's for sure. I took my car for inspection and emission at Sawchuck's. I was told by Doug that it will cost a little over $1,600.00 for repairs etc. and decided to go ahead with it. 2-days after I picked my car up the check engine light came back on, as well as other things (ABS, then speedometer didn't work) which all were non issue before I took the car to their place. I then took the car back for recheck and they said it will cost another $1,600.00 to fix "other" things totaling $3,200.00. Consumers make a decision based on information provided or recommended by Service Providers. IF they told me that to get my car corrected will cost $3,200.00 I would have made a decision not to get it fixed but trade it in instead. This is precisely why consumers cannot trust or loose faith in mechanics! There is no way to prove otherwise that they did not cause other issues while working on your vehicle so you are just out of luck! Consumers beware. read more
