Tom Kha Kai: The broth was average, mostly tastes like coconut milk, only comes with small amount of chicken ms tomatoes. Mostly onion. Every other time I've had this soup from other Thai restaurants, it came with belle pepper and mushrooms, so this was far under my expectations. Pad Thai: Again, small portion compared to other places. Does not have any tamarind taste to the sauce. Dry and bland. Drunken Noodles: Again, very small portion. Not flavorful at all, dry, beef was chewy. Overall, pricier than other Thai restaurants in the area but does not measure up to portion size or quality of food. One of the better Thai restaurants in Augusta! In the front section of the plaza near Firehouse Subs. Food: Good Thai tea and most importantly, spicy! My Uncle and Mom found this place a year ago when they moved out to the Evans area. I finally was able to visit and try the food and it was pretty great. The place is pretty small so if you have a large family it's gonna be a tight fit, family's if 4's you'll be okay. Came here for lunch; however, they were only serving the dinner menu on a holiday weekday. We were greeted and seated promptly. We started with the Thai pork stuffed wings. The wings were nice and crispy, and the filling had good flavor. However, it was all under seasoned. Needed much more salt. I also had the Tom Kha Kai (Chicken coconut soup) and asked for it to be spicy. It did not disappoint. It was warm, spicy, and deliciously flavorful on a cold winter day. Surprisingly, there were chunks of tomato in the soup which were actually a pretty good addition, just unexpected. For entrees, my husband had the drunken noodles and I had the pad sie ew with pork. I've had pad sie ew multiple times in many cities, and this is one of the first where the sauce was actually tangible in the dish. It was so DELICIOUS. I'm going to be craving this dish again soon. Really good. Four stars because the wings needed much more seasoning and for the place being understaffed. There was one waitress/hostess who was taking care of everyone. This place has some amazing flavor! Drove 50 minutes from the country to finally get some Thai and I would say it was worth it. We ordered Tom Kai soup which is my favorite to start with- it was so comforting and I didn't want to stop eating it. The other appetizer which I forgot the name of was different than anything I've had but reminded me of a pork belly bun because of the outer bun surrounding the meat. The filling was pork mixed with water chestnuts. The bread flavor was good but the bright red color of the filling was a little alarming, nevertheless delicious. Of course I had to order massaman curry which is forever my favorite. Theirs had great flavor and wasn't lacking anything which I find most places usually are missing something. Mom got the roasted duck dish- I prefer my duck a little more crispy but the flavor was decent (I still would like some more lime flavor). My only complaint is the restaurant only seemed to play one song on repeat and it honestly made us want to get out of there so quickly (which maybe was their purpose for it). Hit this place for a to-go dinner on a weeknight. Place was empty at 7 pm, should have been a clue. Ordered the tofu drunken noodles, Thai hot. Got back to hotel room and was surprised by how small the order was. Meal contained very few veggies. No real taste to the food, but it was spicy. The noodles were clumped together as if the meal had been made hours earlier. Overall pretty disappointing. A co worker wants to try for lunch, I will have to think about that. Nice small place for a pleasant meal. The decor is very colorful. At one point it looks like there was a sushi bar? Maybe it was a sushi place in its former life? Now they serve some great Thai food. In fact, they have my favorite Thai food in Augusta. Since the pandemic the dining room is closed but we got takeout on several occasions which was delicious. The Pad Thai is stellar but I suggest branching out and trying different things from their extensive menu. We love their fresh spring rolls, the soups, and the Koa Pad Puu. They have some interesting dessert choices also. The waitstaff is patient and knowledgeable too. They are also accommodating about the level of spiciness that you are comfortable with also. I was skeptical alright, but surprisingly I walked out a fan! Looking for Thai food in the Augusta area, my trusty yelp app sent me to Sawasdee Authentic Thai. I made the drive over and at first glance, there's nothing special at all about Sawasdee. It was a fellow diner who made the suggestion that if I were hungry, to not try the lunch special, because teh servings are small. Alrighty! I setled on a dinner entree for lunch and got the following: C4 Gaeng Kheow Waan green curry ($10.95) A13 Gyoza ($6.95) Starting with the Gaeng Kheow Waan, this is a green curry sauteed with coconut milk, and included broccoli, green peas, bell peppers, and basil. It also came with a side of steamed white rice. From the first spoonful I was sold....this curry was very rich, bursting with flavor, and was actually surprisingly spicy. Veggies were cooked well and I included beef (you can select chicken, tofu, beef or pork at no charge...or shrimp, whole fish or squid for $3 more). The beef wasn't super chewy and went well with the dish. I loved it and would highly recommend it. The Gyoza, which are steamed and then pan fried dumplings stuffed with veggies and pork, came in a serving of 6 pieces, and the flavor of these were just okay. A dipping sauce was also provided but I probably wouldn't order these again just because they lacked any real flavor to me. Located off of Washington Road in the West town Market Square, parking for Sawasdee Authentic Thai is absolutely no problem with all of the parking available. I had zero expectations for Sawasdee Authentic Thai, but I really enjoyed myself with the food here, and if you're itching for some decent thai food, they may be worth a visit for you. Met some friends here for dinner and what an unexpected treat. There weren't many people inside, but the staff was friendly and the menu looked interesting. I was in total glutton mode and opted for some spring rolls for the table, another appetizer just for me PLUS a stir fried basil dish, Thai hot. Spring rolls were nothing to get excited about but they did come out piping hot and virtually greaseless; always a plus. My other appetizer was perfect for a stifling hot summer day; a perfect combination of spicy, sweet and sour, not too cool, but it was salty. And I'm a low key salt addict. Flavors were amazing, just salty. My entree. Omg. So hot. But you said Thai hot! Indeed, I did, because I'm used to getting moderate American hot which is never spicy enough. But here, umm yeah. Plenty hot. Flash forward to me NEEDING a Thai iced tea to soothe my scorched mouth. Like the appetizer, flavors were decidedly there. I have never heard of this place before, until a friend of mine suggested that we go yesterday (she's always trying to challenge me because of my reviews - she thinks I don't like anything lol). First thing's first, this place is pretty dang clean. Something I notice at a lot of the restaurants in Augusta is their lack of dusting and other cleaning procedures. This place didn't seem to have this problem. The ledges were clean, the tables were clean, the menus were clean (lots of times they are stained and sticky), the chairs, everything was pretty nice (didn't get a chance to check out the restroom). We got there at about 11:30 am on a Wednesday, and there was only one other customer there eating. The dining area was quite spacious and could fit quite a few people - like if you decided to have a group luncheon or something. The waitress was super polite and sweet, and she was great. The food we ordered came out very fast, and super hot and fresh, which I always appreciate. The photos are posted accordingly, and everything was great!
