What an amazing experience! I'm sad to day I've passed this place couple of times not knowing it was here!! It's In a really cute town with shops all around, street metered parking except on the weekends. Not sure if there is another parking area. My friends and I went for gourmet tea tasting and came away with a wealth of knowledge and new understanding of tea. Phil took us on a journey of tea that was like an upscale wine tasting. We tasted 6 teas and they all were so different. From the color of tea, types of tea, why all teas with the same name are not created equal, to the temperature of the water, different pots, regions, his travels since the 70s....yea we learned a lot. I look forward to going back to buy more tea. Staff were really nice. You can order. Beverage and treats there too. Not much room to sit but grab. I stumbled upon the health benefits of Green Tea about a decade ago. Especially how l-theanine helps to increase your levels of dopamine in your brain. My wife and I went on a day trip to Madison to check out a cheese shop I had found online. To my pleasant surprise, this tea shop was next door. It was a quiet weekday and after we went to the cheese shop, my wife wanted to checkout a few shops in the nearby area, so I told her I'd be in the tea shop when she was finished. When I walked in, the owner, whose name is Phil, greeted me kindly and through the course of our conversation, started to impart his vast knowledge of tea to me. I've met a few Tea shop owners who thought they knew about all the teas they sold, but they all take a back seat to Phil. I could have talked to him for hours, his knowledge was so extensive. I learned more in that time, than I had in the previous five years of self exploration. I sampled three of his recommendations, which I wound up buying 50 gram bags of to take home with me. The shop itself is tastefully designed to create a calming effect on anyone who walks in. I highly recommend stopping here if you drink tea at all, it's well worth the trip. read more

I was so sad to see that this store was going to be closed on Monday when I was going to be in town. I drove two hours for a medical appointment and really wanted a treat afterwards. I was so delighted to drive by and see that the open sign was lit up. When I asked the owner about the hours on Monday, he explained that he happened to have a bunch of deliveries that day and decided to unlock the door and turn on the sign. I asked him to pick out a drink for me and he picked a great herbal iced tea. The other people in the store really enjoyed all of his knowledge about teas. They said that they would come back for tea tastings, and even shook his hand and asked for his name. Very impressive all around! Hopefully, I can book my future appointments around the store hours. I have been a fan of Savvy Tea for many years. I am it sure why it has taken me this long to share a review. They are me go to place for tea. They have a wide assortment of loose leaf tea and can help you find the right tea for you. They also infuse both jot an old tea for a quick cup. But by far the best part of Savvy Tea is the knowledge you gain by having a conversation with Phil. My wife and I recently attended a tea tasting with Phil and were blown away for the information he shares. Not only did we enjoy 6 different flavored teas, but Phil shared his extensive knowledge about tea with us. It was so enjoyable. He is a tea professor and his passion comes through as he shares his knowledge with the class. Classes ate available in-person and online. I would wholeheartedly recommend Savvy Teas. I recently attended a baby shower at Savvy Tea Gourmet. They have a small back room that works well for a small shower or other event. There were approximately 20 of us and that is probably the maximum. We enjoyed a tasting of different teas. They had indicated it would be 6 different types but we only had 5, which was plenty. I am not a tea drinker but did enjoy several of them, especially the Lavender Mint and one with Cactus Flower. In addition we were served a tiered tray with finger sandwiches (4 types) and an assortment of sweets (rich fudge brownies, lemon squares, macaroons and mini pistachio muffins). Next we had 2 types of mini quiche and finally a large scone. Since I have been watching what I eat I did not try everything, but what I did try was very good. In addition to our party it seemed to be busy in the front room where many different types of tea are served. Nice idea for a cold late Winter day. If you love tea, stop in here! If you don't like tea, come anyway and they will convert you. The owner is so knowledgeable and excited over tea it is contagious. We did a Saturday tea tasting here and learned to love tea more than we already did. It was Boston Tea Party themed the day we went where we got to try a few from the harbor and others similar or nice pairing. We tried a total of 12 teas - loved them all besides a Smokey one. The class is not only about tasting the tea, this is also a great learning experience. The owner directs the entire class teaching you about every cup before you try it as well as tea in general. The class about 2 hours and was definitely worth it (FYI we got a Groupon). After the class the store was closing but he still made us a chai smoothie which was the best I ever had! So this brings me to my next point- service. The guy behind the counter was so friendly and helpful!!! He really was my tea spirit guide. He let me try one, explained how they are best served, and set me up w/ an individual serving Tea maker. We arrived to find we could order pre- packaged scones in plastic clam shells, but not afternoon tea, because we were "walk-ins". I love their selection and the staff always has great recommendations based on what I've purchased or tried in the past. Phil holds hands-on (or should I say lips-on?) tea tasting classes on Saturdays to educate the interested on the ancient history, health aspect, and subtle nuances of tea. I have attended a handful and can say they are quite informative and all around fun. I think this place is what made me move beyond the idea of tea as just a bag mindlessly thrown into some boiling water with a bit of sugar. There is an emphasis on where the tea is grown as well as how it is processed and how you brew it to make a great cup of tea. It's an experience! My friend and I celebrated her birthday at Savvy Tea Gourmet. Excellent experience. We had finger sandwiches, scones, cookies and about seven different kinds of teas. The food was delicious, and the aromas and flavors of the teas complemented the food perfectly. We went for my mothers birthday for high tea, we have gone to several high teas before and this place had the best the best tea any of us have ever tasted, along with a ton of yummy food (tea sandwiches, five different kinds of desserts, two different mini quiches and a large scone). The owner also came out several times to share information on the different teas as well as share his own pot of tea he brewed for himself.
