Cute place with very nice decor. We had a good service experience. Unfortunately the food was not very good. The scones were dry, borderline stale. The egg salad didn't have much flavor. The grilled cheese was probably the best item of the bunch. The banana pudding was also pretty good but the pecan pie was burnt and the laminated cake was dry again borderline stale. I also thought the mocktails were awful - flavored seltzer but missing the flavor. The tea itself was decent but not good enough for a return trip. read more

I was disappointed to hear that the Oxford Tea with Tracy had closed because we were in that area a couple times a year and liked the shop. I knew there was another one somewhere though. Then, wouldn't you know, I'm walking around Seymour, CT and spied the other Tea with Tracy. I didn't eat food, but I did order a hot tea to drink. The Louisa May Alcott from the Author's series. We came for lunch around 1pm and were seated and given water fairly promptly. After perhaps 10-15 minutes we flagged down a waitress and asked to place our order. We were abruptly told that we would have to be patient, as there were 3 tables ahead of us. She didn't offer to take our order nor apologize for the delay. I've gone to the oxford location with my family for a while now but this is the first time that I went to the original seymour location (because sadly the oxford location closed). If you haven't been to either it's really a blast to the past with the decor and 'fine dining high tea' elements that you really don't see elsewhere. On top of that the vintage decor really makes it special because instead of a cookie cutter restaurant, each part of it has its own character, even down to each individual chair! What made this visit extra special though was that we were served by Tracy herself! She was very friendly, answered all our questions, and even helped me pick out a delicious tea I would've never tried (and I don't even like tea!). I got the pomegranate blueberry - fruit tea, but if you're an avid tea drinker then they have so many teas to choose from. Although the ham and gouda was supposed to be a tea sandwich, tracy was more than accommodating to make it into a delicious grilled cheese (which should honestly be a mainstay). The combo i got came with the sandwich, tea and tomato soup all for $21 (18 +3 for the grilled cheese upgrade) but still a great deal for ct. Dipping the grilled cheese in the tomato soup was so good, so I hope they keep the tomato soup too. For dessert i had the cream cheese cupcake which was also pretty good, and in tea with tracy fashion the check was served to us in a book! Overall, I'm sad that the oxford location closed because the brunch menu and eggs Benedict were my favorite, but I'm very hopeful that it will return someday soon. read more

My wife had a choice of several scones. The desserts are decadent. She had the pistachio creme brûlée, and I had a simple chocolate cupcake with a rich icing. I don't usually leave bad reviews for restaurants unless I've had a really bad experience or encountered exceptionally poor service and rude staff. I have been a loyal customer at Tea with Tracy in Seymour for many years. I went for tea with my friend here this week, as we so often do. Our server was Tracy, the owner. While taking our orders she seemed somewhat agitated and unfriendly. When she returned with the food, my order was incorrect and the new dish I received was unappetizing. After taking a bite of the egg salad sandwich which was very nasty, I respectfully informed her that the egg salad had too much mayonnaise. She only replied, "that's because I made it quickly" as if that was the reason why the sandwich was overly dressed in mayo. Despite bringing these issues to the attention of our server Tracy(again the owner of this establishment), there was no effort made to rectify the situation or make it right. I just paid the full bill and left hungry. To make matters worse, as I completed the payment transaction, she had the audacity to ask me in a stern voice, "did I leave a tip on the table?" I looked at her in disbelief, and she AGAIN repeated and held up my payment slip saying, "I noticed that you didn't check off for a tip on the receipt, so did you leave a tip on the table?" I have worked as a waitress in my past jobs and I have compassion for servers and I always, always left a tip even if the service was not up to par. However, after hearing those words come out of her mouth, the display of tip shaming and poor service, you can bet she didn't get a tip and I will never visit that establishment ever again! Overall, my experience was EXTREMELY unpleasant and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone anymore. I am so disappointed in the lack of respect and decorum from the owner. What a charming place! My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Seymour location. We ordered the afternoon tea where we each received a 2 cup pot of tea chosen from an extensive tea menu. What a simple splendid tea room. I popped in here the other day for afternoon tea and had a wonderful time. Since I was solo, I got an assortment of salmon and chicken finger sandwiches which were scrumptious. My giant blueberry scone I took home because I was full from the sandwiches, but that didn't stop me from also getting a lamington & a tiramisu cupcake. I actually also went with a tiramisu tea and the two complemented each other perfectly. My friends and I had a wonderful early afternoon tea here on a Sunday. I had almond cookie tea (delish) and cranberry orange scone also very good with lemon curd, upgraded to the grilled cheese with Brie & apples, and finished with butterscotch oatmeal cookies. I ended up purchasing some tea to go home and loved the room the tea cups and serving tray, our server was super pleasant as well. Highly recommend! Tea With Tracy has been on my list forever and I finally took my mom here for her birthday! It was everything I hoped for! Of course, we had to do the afternoon tea which is served on a tiered platter with your choice of tea, scone, sandwich and dessert for $24 pp. So fun! The ambience of this place is super adorable! I treated my mom to afternoon tea and it was delightful. We had a great waitress name PJ. She was very attentive and always made sure we had everything we needed. You might be wondering why only 3 stars? First, We ordered the mix berry scone and the chive scone. The scones felt preheated and it was dry and lacked the flavor and texture of what I feel a scone is. The savory scone was salty to me. I think the scones were made with a special flour because it didn't have the feel of white flour. The Devonshire cream was not was Devonshire cream, it tasted more like whipped cream. The lemon curd was great! I could of eaten the whole thing myself. The ham and Gouda sandwich was good, the chicken curry sandwich was delicious. For desserts we ordered the lamington and carrot cake. I gotta say the sizes of the cakes were not tea etiquette. They were huge! The lamington was sweeter than I expected but loved the coconut coating. I'm not a big fan of carrot cake but mom liked it. Overall, super cute thing to do. True to her word, the waitress came 30 minutes later - about 5 mins after my party arrived. I ordered a egg salad sandwich and banana bread as a dessert. My friend ordered the same sandwich but carrot cake as her dessert. We chose two teas that the waitress recommended based on our palette. Pros: the tea was great! Cons: nothing else was as great. The egg salad lacked flavor and the mayo overpowered any attempt at flavor. I agree with some of the other reviews here that the carrot cake felt old and store bought. I went here to celebrate my 5 year old daughters birthday. It is the perfect spot to make any little girl feel like a princess!!! It's beautiful decorated and has a wonderful selection of tea sandwiches and scones. The list of tea flavors is huge so be prepared to have trouble deciding which to get!! The blueberry lavender tea is delicious! My daughter enjoyed the raspberry cherry pie but I thought it was a little too tart and fruity. This place is very cute and girly. I visited here with a friend after a shopping trip. We both got the afternoon tea which comes with your selection of a scone, tea sandwich, dessert, and tea. We both got the garlic scone which was SO good! I've never had a savory scone and this one was so flavorful and delicious. We also both got the cranberry and Brie tea sandwiches which were okay. The cranberry to Brie ratio was off - needed more cheese, less cranberry. The cranberry was also very tart and the sandwich is served cold (would've been better toasted). For tea, I had the apple cinnamon coffee cake flavor which was good but didn't really taste like apple or cinnamon at all. My friend got the cinnamon orange tea which she really liked. For desserts, we chose the brownies and apple tort both of which were very good. Seating is tight because it's a small place so I would definitely recommend making a reservation. Our server was a bit cold and dismissive. She also basically yelled at a woman at another table to watch her child in front of multiple tables which rubbed me the wrong way. My family visited Tea with Tracy today for High Tea. It was our 1st time here. I had pretty high expectations for what I wanted. Tea with Tracy came through with flying colors even my hubby enjoyed the experience. I'd made a reservation a few weeks prior. We were seated right away. The shop is lovely. The staff is friendly & knowledgeable about their teas. There are ALOT of teas to choose from. The tea sandwiches we tried were great (chicken salad w/cranberry & nuts and Brie w/cranberry). The hubby upgraded to a grilled cheese which he enjoyed. He raved about his chocolate cupcake. The other desserts were yummy as well. My only negative was my lemon blueberry scone which was very heavy and dense this of course is a matter of preference so you may love a dense scone. The crème brûlée tea was a huge hit. We had a disappointing visit to Tea with Tracy. It used to be a warm, cozy Victorian tea house. Not anymore. No smiles from the employees. The bathroom was completely renovated to the worst. And the price was up - $30! Not worth it! There were only a few customers. it used to be packed by ladies. This is a fantastic, adorable and quaint little cafe/restaurant. I would have given it 5 stars a year ago but they changed their menu in a way that is genuinely annoying and makes no sense. Before you had the option of mix and matching any tea sandwiches, daily soup and salad. Now they only offer the soup with salad and the soup with the sandwiches, which really sucks if you can't have the soup because of dietary restrictions or simple preference. They won't allow it even if you ask to buy the sandwiches and salad separately. The food here is good most days, but most of it is obviously not homemade and has been sitting in the fridge/counter which I can look past if they would let me order what I actually want. The tea is lovely if you know what to order and most of the daily soups have cream in them which make it not an option for many people. I just wish they would allow salads with sandwiches, I can't imagine why they would take it off because it is such a popular combo. I will still visit here but really hope they change their menu back/ be more accommodating to people with dietary restrictions. read more

I've been to Tea with Tracy twice before, once with a friend for lunch and also with a group for a 50th birthday celebration, so for a birthday treat for my daughter before seeing the Downton Abbey movie, Tea with Tracy seemed to be the perfect choice. A group of 6 of us made 10 am reservation which worked out well as we were able to choose from both breakfast and lunch menus. We ordered a selection of breakfast and lunch dishes including omelettes, pancakes, ham and Gouda tea sandwiches and scones. Various flavored and black teas and coffees were chosen from a substantial selection! My only disappointment was the homemade crumpets, (the reason for the missing star) which were greasy and stodgy and not at all authentic (I'm British), but the remainder of the food was tasty and well cooked. This is such a pretty restaurant, with eclectic intentionally mismatched China; a unique and novel experience, perfect for a mother-daughter or girlfriend outing. I visited the Seymour location a couple years ago with a friend for afternoon tea, and it was a nice experience. For the holidays, I purchased a gift card for my friend so she could purchase some tea through Tracy's online shop. Guess what? Gift cards can only be used for in person purchases. This is NOT stated anywhere on the website, but Tracy confirmed it when I emailed. We both live out of state and had I known, I wouldn't have purchased a gift card that's useless to either of us. I requested a refund from GiftFly, the 3rd party gift card vendor; they said it has to be issued by the merchant. I emailed Tracy and explained neither my friend or I live near CT and therefore would like a refund (nowhere on the website is a refund or non-refund policy stated re: gift cards). Five days on and NO REPLY. I've never experienced a business that has an online shop that will not let gift card balances be applied to online purchases - especially since in the checkout process there are a couple spots for discount codes to be applied! I'm sorry I ordered the gift card to support a small business because it sours the memory of a nice experience with my friend. read more

We went for a Saturday tea with the girls to the Oxford location. Made a reservation as requested. Seated in a back room next to a dirty table that wasn't cleaned the two hours we were there. Our sever was missing most of the time. We received our tea and had to wait forever for milk. Syrup for the French toast didn't show up until halfway through. Waited forever for our check. They added gratuity, as we were a party of six, which is fine. I just feel that automatic added gratuity is like a participation trophy. I would have tipped 20% anyway, but when it's a given the service was definitely barely dialed in. The food however, was fantastic! I haven't had a proper high tea since the last time I went across the pond. I was so happy to be there and enjoy the deliciousness! The tea list is amazing!! So many choices!! After salad all the rest of the food comes out together on a tower. The food was pretty good. Not blow your mind kind of delicious, but very good, clearly fresh and plated well. This place is so cute! Came here around 3PM on a Friday afternoon. Luckily we had just arrived after the rush! The tea menu is massive. There were so many choices! There aren't many vegan or vegetarian choices, which maybe they should think about adding. I ordered the All American cupcake tea, the cranberry & brie and a chocolate chip scone. The tea was delicious! I really loved the vanilla flavor. The sandwich was so so. I didn't think the flavors were that great. The scone was very good though but could've been more moist. For dessert, my mom and I shared a lamington and the red velvet cake. The lamington was good with the chocolate and coconut but the cake itself could've been more moist. The red velvet was also pretty so so. My mom enjoyed it but it just tasted like red dyed vanilla cake with cream cheese icing. It wasn't chocolatey at all.
