If you are visiting Angels Camp, this is going to be the go-to supermarket for essentials/groceries. What's kinda crazy is that the pricing here feels on-par if not just as expensive as whole foods but since there aren't many options in the area for groceries, it does what it needs to do. Some of our must-haves whenever we shop here are the rock-it apples and their jalapeno cheddar bagels and jalapeno cheddar sandwich rolls. Their hot food is actually pretty solid. You can get a family fried chicken meal for $25 or if you are wing person like myself, the salt and vinegar wings are a solid snack to have at the house. The alcohol is a little bit on the expensive side, but at least the selection is pretty solid. We've come here a lot over the years and it's never super busy. Definitely need to be part of their rewards program because that's where the deals are. Plenty of parking as well, makes this a super convenient supermarket to shop at. read more

Expectations are already pretty low going into any Savemart. But this one beats them all hands-down. Lady at the Register rung me up wrong. Then I was directed to a different "service" counter where I waited seven minutes for Jackie - Who never appeared. Thank goodness for the manager, the only redeeming element in the store, who asked for someone else to come over and refund me the problem the cashier created. This store is disgusting. Save- Mart should be ashamed. Where to start... Men's room is falling apart. Door on stall falling off. Soap dispenser never has soap which tells me the employees are handling food without washing their hands. I've seen both men and women employees enter and exit the restrooms in their aprons....blah... The floor is coming up near the meat area. Some of the shelves are stained with liquid. Every time I'm there they have some sort of "line crisis" and backed up checkout lines. I could go on but don't have all day.... This is by far the most rundown, pathetic Save-Mart I've ever been in... I guess corporate figures we're not entitled to a nice store here.... We'd rather drive to Stockton Safeway than shop here... It's the local "big" market of the area. Food wise they'll have everything you're looking for compared to the others. The service is quite good, I just witnessed a checker run out into the parking lot to catch a car that was leaving the parking lot to give them a bag they left behind. This is hands down. The worst grocery store I have ever shopped at. This is not a one-time experience. I consistently encounter long lines and poor customer service. Their self-checkout has issues more often than not. And the people who are supposed to be monitoring the self-checkout are either not present or can't figure out how to make a checkout work. I rarely shop at this store anymore. The last time I shopped there the self-checkout froze on me and they attendant told me they would be back in a few minutes. That was several months ago. I have not shopped from that event until today. I encountered the same exact problem. If so check out froze up. I turned around and look at the attendant. She gave me a thumbs up. I attempted to keep scanning items and it was still for us up. I turned around to get the attendance attention. She was gone. My suggestion if you live in the area. Shop one of the local markets that care about their customers and know how to operate a grocery store. I would like to note that I do not immediately jump to Yelp due to negative experiences. A wonderful market with a very good selection of almost everything. The place is clean and pretty well stocked. They had an excellent meat counter that was manned with a butcher, who was ready to help select something nice to grill. We enjoyed the service. They have a nice deli section too. Pricing was fair considering today's values, we found some great choices in both steaks and ribs for the grill too. Your prices have gone up significantly in last 6 months. You should change your name to something other than SaveMart. My husband thinks you should change it to PayMore! Sunday morning 7:30 went to Angels Camp Save Mart and could not buy groceries, why? No power shopping carts. This store has 1 power cart, just 1 and the battery was dead, 7:30 am! Did they not charge it overnight? They've had 1 cart for weeks, probably longer. There is a large Senior Citizen population in the Angels Camp area, unfortunately there are many with physical limitations that require assistance, 1 cart is not enough. Was denied purchase of alcohol as a 26 year old with a valid California ID because my 12 year old sister was with me. When asked why, the cashier cited "California law" which does not seem to exist upon further internet searching and would almost certainly not have been enforced if someone older was purchasing. On top of this, the cashier was rude from the moment I stepped to the register, was extremely slow ringing up the customers in front of me, and also snapped at the customer behind me in line. Its a decent store with high prices. We were visiting the area and I stopped in to pickup some TriTip. Sadly, the TriTip had a lot of extra fat on it and it was the absolute worst TriTip. The meat looked amazing on the outside, but it was the worst kind of TriTip and most TriTips are pretty good. I wanted to make it last for three days but literally threw it in the garbage? We did somehow manage to eat some of it between the odd gristle and weird kind of fat in it. It had so much gristle in it that it dissolved into nothing. Weird! Absolutely the worst piece of meat I've EVER bought! The steak was $38.00 on the pricey side. Bad, bad, bad meat that I was hoping to eat the next day. This has never happened with a TriTip before? I was not a happy customer and when we're paying that much for a TriTip someone needs to be checking where this stuff is coming from because it was absolutely terrible terrible meat! Even my husband told me to throw it out? And for him to say throw it out, you best know it was a complete waste of money. read more

I like this Supermarket. It's a little drive away from the ranch, but worth it when we need to grocery shop. Came here about three times with in my last stay at the ranch. One thing I like the most, you can go the the meat department, and have them grill you up your choice of meat. I thought that was really cool. Make sure to call ahead of time. Supermarket is a bit pricey but there isn't much in the area. I tasted the nastiest hot wings ever. The wings were huge -- didn't have the flavor of hot wings at all. Wasn't even spicy. I was hungry and needed a quick snack before dinner, that ruined it. However, the one small piece of chicken tender was good. I truly wanted to give them higher stars, but a few times I was uncomfortable taking to a few of the older workers. I sensed racism. They were rude and short when I asked a question. I expected it coming from a small town. But, over all I'll be back. Next time I may have to call them out! read more

Save Mart was closed on Christmas day and we ended up driving to Sonora to pick up groceries when we were in Angel's camp for a vacation last week. Was a little annoyed but that went away on the subsequent trips to Save Mart. We ordered two kid birthday cakes online. Called in to check they have the orders. They read the order back to me. Cool! Easy! Traveled 30 mins to pick up the cake (because: mountains). Decorations were great. Better than i expected. We sliced into both cakes and both cakes had the wrong flavor and filling. Ordered chocolate and marble cakes and instead got two standard white cakes with some coconut flakes. Sad. Disappointed. Kids didn't even finish the cakes. Have you ever seen kids turn any cake down? So, I spend a few hundred a week in here. Im not a complainer for the most part, if I didn't like it I guess I could drive to Sonora. I get that not everyone is up on the concept of weights and measures. I also get that the store is probably short handed so every sophomore that applies gets hired. I do however get a little peeved when picking up individual brussellsprouts out of the parking lot. The paper bags were not engineered to take 25lbs of groceries in one bag. This is your typical grocery store. They had lots of options. We only stop by to pick up a few things. The steak had a very good price it was only 5.99 a pound for a 16oz T bone steak that was pretty exceptional outside of that it is your standard grocery store prices over all wear about average. There was a discount store right across the street for things that had either damaged packaging or I guess had been on the shelf a little bit Longer, but were offered at a very discounted price..
