For a moment, I thought this could be the new XS Cargo--a Canadian discount chain that closed down several years ago and I have longed for the return of. I was aware that many Amazon products that are returned get sold to liquidators, so I entered the store with expectations of pretty competitive pricing. What I found was a pretty broad collection of cheaper-quality products at, what seemed like retail or near-retail prices. In spite of signage assuring me otherwise, the discounts that I saw just quite didn't rationalize the purchase price for me. After all, some of these products may even be defective Amazon returns and the savings just weren't substantial enough to take that risk. While the products may indeed be acquired through a liquidation sale, or Amazon palette auction model, the price that consumers like me see doesn't quite reflect that. It feels like someone's making a handsome markup here.

This Dollar General is the best. Not so much for the product that sell because it's give or take…read morethe same as every other Dollar General. Its the pair that work here that make it great. They know where everything is and they will help you find whatever it is your looking for. There is always more then one person on shift which makes it super easy to find someone! They are all very nice and make you feel at home. They get 5 stars because NONE of this location employees are every in a bad mood. Even if they are. You would never know. Its always well stock although some days you do have to fight through boxes on and caps that need to be put away but they pretty much clear it out by 6 at night so real it's good for a stop on the way home or on the road. Big drink selection snacks a lacking alittle. And lots for stuff for outdoors! Great store.

However, there are tables of boxes of different sizes and then in the same table there are open packages of items. Most boxes aren't marked with what's inside of them. The only way to find out is to take the boxes to a counter where staff will open them for you. I understand that people are careless and probably leave things a mess. But if this is the only way to see what's inside the box, why wouldn't they take the time to actually write what is inside of the box before you take it over? I walked past so many items that probably were great, but I really did not want to stand in line and wait for their staff to open up every box. The pricing leaves something to be desired as well. I understand that there are discounts according to the day, but you would go in on a Thursday and get the items for $.50, and on a Friday the exact same items are $12? Seriously? I know many people enjoy this kind of store but I can honestly say this is not for me.

Also picked up some cheap batteries and Fourth of July decorations! Sweet! The checkout guy was really weird. He couldn't take a joke. Instead of apologizing, he said he hasn't had much sleep because he had worked three doubles. I guess the holiday week has been busy? The store was being restocked but at the same time looked like a tornado had come through. Stuff everywhere. One of my Fourth of July lanterns was broken before we even opened it. Didn't know until we had it home and unpacked. Oh well. It was only a dollar.
