Walked in and I felt like I'm back to the 80s/90s shop. Over stocking inventories, hand written menu. You have call out for the staff to give the order. Good old feeling... I was in the area and want to bánh mì and ordered grilled beef lemongrass. Easy order with nice, down to earth guy, waited for 3mins for him to make the sandwich and paid for it and left. The sandwich was good, the pickle is great. They even cut into 2 pieces and wrapped it for you. Tip-- if you can call in to place order for pick up, that's ideal vs going there then ordering, which can take a while. Literally a mom and pop type of place. My favorite is their Banh mi bo nuong xa (bbq lemongrass beef patty) flavorful and goes well with the pickled veggies. I appreciate the fact they don't put pickled veggies inside your Banh Mi. Packaged individually, so your sandwich does not get soggy. Today I ordered 1 vegetarian and 3 beef. Delicious! If you're really hungry, you can easily eat two! My first time here, I walked in and felt like I was back in one of the early banh mi shops in Little Saigon 25 years ago. Handwritten signs. Vietnamese menu. Vietnamese dry goods for sale scatttered around. I ordered a beef sandwich and paid cash of course. Out came a perfect banh mi, cut and wrapped carefully. The veggies were on it already but they were seasoned with salt and pepper and maybe something else. The sliced meat had a lemongrass flavor. The mayo was spiked with something delicious. The bun was not the crackly French roll but instead a thin cigar tube roll that was dense like an Italian breadstick. It really hit the spot. I need to try the other combinations. read more

I got banh mi from this place at least once a week, their Banh Mi Dac Biet is my favorite, but I also got eggs or grilled meat sometimes, really good too. Also they been in the plaza for very long time already. Their portion is great, price vary from $6.5 to $7 so pretty much same price compare to places around here. Their owner really nice and funny too, they also have drinks such as Viet ice coffee and coffee with jelly, their drink are huge for the price ngl. This is a take-away kinda place so there is no dine in. You might need to wait a bit longer since he makes it to order so his banh mi always hot and crunchy. Overall highly recommended. read more

I was in the area and was so thirsty so gave this place a try. The place is very small with a couple of tables and chairs. There were several guys playing cards and I didn't see anybody at the counter. As I started walking to the counter, I noticed one of the guys got up and started walking away from the game and walk towards the counter, so I'm assuming he's the owner or worker. I thought that was strange but oh wells. This place offers assorted cold plate with eggs and baguette, snacks, banh mi and drinks. Since I was thirsty I ordered the fresh kumquat slush and it was pretty good. As soon as the guy was done with making the drink and hand it to me he then couldn't wait to get back to his game. Hmmmmm, so I was craving a banh mi and not sure how to feel about this place. I have tried many of them in the valley and a few in this general area. I have to say, that the banh mi in the valley in my opinion are far better. To start, the bread is softer and tastier even when warm or toasted. The ingredients, beef or pork also better. In any event, this place started off wrong and I should have just walked out. I was trying to ask for a menu in English but no luck, the gentleman at the counter, could not understand me and I could not understand him due to the language barrier. I kept telling him BBQ pork, he said house special and I just said, ok, next thing I know I get the sandwich (several minutes later) and was nothing of what I wanted. It had some kind of meat like spiced bologna but far from BBQ pork. In any event, I took it and was disappointed. It was not bad but it was not good in my opinion. I do wish this place had english translations or menus. I would help someone like me that does not know any Vietnamese other than Banh mi and Pho for meals. I rely on pictures or translations for foreign/ethnic foods. Maybe google translate next time. I really enjoyed the cheesesteak and the dac biet sandwiches! I couldn't decide which one I wanted so obviously I had to buy both. There was only one man working so it took a little while for him to make my sandwiches. I think half the time was spent wrapping them up though. The sandwiches are really long so they're cut into halves, and then the halves are individually wrapped/taped, then each sandwich is put into its own paper bag which was stapled, and then the paper bags were put into a larger plastic bag which was knotted. No joke. Or I don't know, maybe it was a joke... I think what sets this place apart is the pate and butter, so creamy and good. Next time I will definitely order extra pate! read more

This review's mainly for their banh mi dac biet. My mom has been ordering from this place for years, but for the past few months she's been trying banh mi from other places just to try new dac biet sandwiches. I've tried a bunch of different places with her, and none of them are as good as Sasha. Compared to all of the places we've tried, the banh mi dac biet here is longer, it's packed with more meat, the pâté is delicious, and the quality of the meat is so good. At first I was amused by the idea of 1 long baguette. Usually you only get the length with plain baguette, not with stuffing. My impressions with their stuff baguettes are, "Did they re-toast the baguettes they didn't sell yesterday? Why are there black burnt marks and the baguette are so hard?" Their baguette are crunchy but so damn hard. I always try to eat flip the baguette over and eat the side w/o burnt mark to avoid having the thing scratch the roof of my mouth. On 10/22/2016, I came in at 9:20 AM while the store clerk was eating his breakfast. I ordered 1 long special baguette. He went straight into making it (without washing his hands). Uh...ok... Brought the thing to work at 9:40 AM, cut it into 4, finished devouring 1/4 of it at 10 AM. ~1 hour later, I got diarrhea. I thought I had a weak stomach... Ever since my sister recommended this place to me, I've been their frequent customer. I like their "dac biet" banh mi but I basically tried all of their options including the cheesesteak banh mi. The place is small and nestled in a corner inside Bolsa Mini Mall. They have no AC inside so it was like walking into an oven for me the last time I was there...which was just last weekend. Got a recommendation from a friend to try this place out, so I made the trip out here before watching my 49ers beat the Saints! I shared two sandwiches. One was the cheesesteak, which I was super surprised was on the menu since it's completely an American sandwich. However, I was pleasantly surprised when the aroma filled my car. Once I got home, took a bite, and fell in love! Oh, so good! An American classic with a slight Viet twist! The other sandwich was a pate and shredded chicken banh mi. This was my attempt at trying pate again and this banh mi may have me changing my tune! I enjoyed this very much. It's a small shop with friendly people. We weren't sure if it'll be good since we didn't like the Banh Mi's from Lee's Sandwiches, but we were hoping it'll be different...and it was. I see banh mi as a snack food and even drunk food when it's late at night and you need a quick fill, but with Sasha Deli I see it as a meal. The place runs out of the good stuff by about 3pm and I am such a fan that I would set an alarm early in the morning just to drive out on the busy streets of Bolsa to just grab a couple and share the gospel that is Sasha Deli! Over the weekend my friend introduced me to this place and I thought.. wow.. I never even knew it existed in the Bolsa area. We got an order of Philly's Cheesesteak and it was BOMB! It has an asian mixture in it which I love. Too good! The only bad thing is they only accept cash but I thought the owner was very nice. It's a small shop so either get it to go or eat outside. If the weather isn't very nice which is rare in Cali, best get it to go. I ordered my breakfast a Fried egg sandwich which was always good as it should be. I never have "banh mi opla" anywhere else rather than Sasha Deli.
