There is a Turkish man and a lady who spoke Turkish that works there super mean. We took a big roll of fabric and wanted 8 yards but he was super mean rolling his eyes telling me and my mom to go find another fabric because the one we took was not enough. We went and looked for other fabric because apparently the fabric we chose earlier was not enough and he couldn't gave us 8 yards form that roll. We wasted so much time and finally found another fabric roll and took it to him at the end of the day the first roll of fabric that we wanted was more than enough and he gave a 8 yards there was still so much fabric left on the roll we didn't had to look for the other roll of fabric. The employees are just not fully present to know how much 8 yards of fabric is and wasted our time while being rude to my mom and rolling their eyes for us taking too "long". At the end they didn't even apologized for their mistakes super entitled!!! read more

This place a sewer's paradise! The warehouse is wall to wall of fabric and clothing embellishments. There are fabrics starts at $3.99 per yard. I was able to find unique prints for making dresses and skirts. The back area is dedicated to wedding textiles and decorations. Lady in the front with bleach blond hair was very rude has no customer service skills what so ever I had to ask her to cut fabric to a 1 yard it looked off so I asked if she can be sure it was good and i thought it stretch fabric and I asked her for more cause it obviously didn't look big enough for what I needed so I asked her to cut me another piece 1 1/2 yard and she gave me attitude I told her just cut the other piece that I needed that I was taking both but she started getting rude with me I had to get rude with her to tell her that I need both either way, other then that good prices and very clean displays read more

I have visited SAS Fabric Superstore various times over the years. I come here with my wife as I did on this Saturday afternoon. My wife was looking for a specific fabric to replace some covering of our outdoor cushions, and as she began looking for the material, I look around the rest of this huge place. Now I am fully aware SAS has three stores, two in Phoenix and one in Tempe. This store is the closest to us. Some of the fabric is on rolls with the price listed inside the roll or just next to the item. Some fabric is folded on display on their specific aisle. Colors beyond what you can imagine. There is fabric for upholstery, wedding dresses, fleece material and even leather and much more. They have threads of all colors and any kind of needle to make your creation. Depending on the amount of material needed and of course color as well, you can be limited to their stock on hand. Case in point my wife found the colors she wanted and heard a gentleman ask for the same fabric she was planning on purchasing. So after the gentleman bought his amount I went over and asked the lady doing the measuring and cutting about the fabric the gentleman had purchased. The lady asked my wife how much she needed and told my wife she would have to check in the back to see if they had more. Sure enough to my wife's joy they did. So that can be a setback depending on how much fabric you need and how much is available. The employees that work here are actually very helpful and every time we have been here they have always been helpful. My photos are not indicative of how big this store is but you will generally find what you are looking for. My sewing skills are quite limited and frankly, I should not even set foot in this place. When I do, it's usually for some minor trim type item but I leave with a bag full of stuff. You can only imagine the delight on the faces of my visiting guests (all incredible seamstresses) when we went to the massive SAS for a "Day After Christmas" shopping excursion. My "experts" had a field day stating they found unique fabrics found nowhere else and they were impressed with the prices. There were rolls of fancier, sequined, or appliqued items at reasonable prices. This place is full of laces, trims, sequins, odd-length zippers, faux fur, upholstery needs, fleece, bridal - you name it. My d.i.l. was ecstatic and left with a bag full of new "projects". Staff is pretty much hands-off and while they are happy to check you out they don't supply a lot of info so you need to know what you are doing. If you sew, don't miss it. I'm from out-of-town and live in a place with no source of apparel fabric, so I was happy to find this place. They have all kinds of fabric-upholstery, leather, quilting cotton, special occasion, knits, faux fur, linings, etc. I found a tartan plaid I've been looking for for the past five years, and a buttery soft faux fur I just couldn't resist. After searching for a specific fabric I found something very close here. I love the store they have tons of fabric extremely cheap. Some of it they sell by the pound. Just walking around looking at the fabric inspires you to create something. This is an enormous, no-frills fabric warehouse. Don't expect shiny displays or staff hovering around you and you won't be disappointed. I've been shopping here for about 20 years and keep coming back because of the low prices and selection. Heading back today to look for summer linens to sew into dresses. I've purchased quilting, dressmaking, leather, trims, lace and yarns from this store over the years and not had issues with quality. The selection and vibe in this store is quirky which I appreciate. Four stars because they don't have air conditioning and in the Phoenix summer it's brutal. Customer service is adequate- I've never been treated rudely and I prefer sales help that don't need to tell me their life story. read more

The women that work the checkout are idiots. They can't do simple math and are complete jerks about it, talking down to customers and using heavy attitude. I left behind my entire order because of how rude they were. Get better staff, don't come to this shit hole. The fabric and prices aren't worth the anger you'll carry for the rest of your day after being treated like that. Sas is the store that boasts about being open for 30+ years, but they've NEVER improved. I'm not certain if the owner is a tight wad or if they want to be know as the "community fabric store" but either way SAS needs an update. The location on Indian school, decided to open a location directly next door, rather than improving the parking or simply what they already have. My qualm isn't even that. My qualm is the refund/exchange policy or lack thereof. I purchased fabric and I called to inquire about the refund/exchange policy since it was not noted ANYWHERE on the receipt. The lady on the line,( a cashier since they opened hahaha) tells me it's (the policy) is all around the store and it has been that way for years. I immediately thought that was hilarious, for the basic fact that the employees don't mention it, nor is it visible on any receipt. The main issue it this so called "policy" doesn't take in to account those who are visually impaired (I didn't say completely impaired ) or those who may not be able to read in 2019. Or even those such as myself, who just didn't see the damn signs. I think they're hidden behind this horrid lace outfits in the window. Either way, if the owner is too frugal to update the store, maybe he should invest in better receipts. It's a long shot though. I'm not even certain they have an interactive website, or even a gmail. Not to mention, the prices went up on the same fabric, and they require you to purchase a yard minimum. I understand the entire issue with returning fabric...but pillows and sealed items damn cheapskates...Never again Sas. I'll shop big brand, where I'm able to change my mind! read more

I am a huge fan of SAS and wanted to checkout the superstore since I usually frequent the SAS off of Indian School and I have to say, I like the Indian School location better. The ribbon and trim and fabric selections can't be beat but there were more patterns of cotton and kids fabrics at the Indian School location that I like better. It also seemed like if the Indian school location stores were combined (since 2 different buildings: 1 with all of the fabric and trim, zippers, etc.; and another building of mostly quinceanera lace and favors), they'd be the equivalent of the superstore. I don't think I'll make the trip out here again but I found the ladies working here to be very nice and helpful, unlike other reviews. read more

Terrible service!!!!!!! I drove from Tempe to this store and arrived at 5:50. During rush hour. Az is contaminated with traffic, we all know that. And the store was already closed. I asked security what time it was and he clearly lied to me and told me it was 5:58 when it was 5:50. All I needed to buy was fabric dye for my kids. I'm in marketing and it close at 5:30 then you shouldn't post your closed hours are 6pm. When I got to my car to write this it was 5:56pm. If we all got clocks in Az then it should be running the same time. I should be told to leave property for trying to make a purchase before closing hours. Terrible. I will write a review every month going forward due to this. And I had to give it a star to even post this which was bs. read more

This store has a huge selection of fabrics. Staff has always been friendly to me. I often bring friends and fellow crafters here if they don't already know about it. Truly a treasure trove. Can't wait til my next project! On a side note: They have signs everywhere about it, but please remember to check your fabric before you take it to the counter. Thousands of large bolts at $3.49 a yard and up. Come on! Yes, there are no returns, not the most helpful staff, and only swamp coolers; but you are paying for the incredible selection of threads, fabrics, elastics, buttons and lace at rock bottom prices. I explained which fabrics i was specifically looking for. Instead of pointing me a direction, he lead me to where I needed to go because he noticed I was lost. He also mentioned the great offers on the fabric which was great help. There were great deals on the fabrics and I ended up grabbing more than what I came for originally. I hate to give 2 stars instead of 1, but the selection of fabrics and prices are outstanding. However, customer service is terrible!! I asked for a sample, & was told "one, 1 inch sample only, after that you have to buy a yard". The woman behind the counter was playing on her phone and acted like I was imposing when I asked if an upholstery fabric was washable. Apparently, they have no idea what the fabric is composed of. If you know a lot about fabrics maybe it would be a good choice for you. I am planning to reupholster kitchen chairs, and I have never done it, so I needed some help. I won't be going back to this store. After driving all the way from N. Scottsdale, I felt I wasted a couple of hours of my day. read more

Let's start off with the positives. The store is big with plenty of space. I love the different varieties of fabrics and colors. The possibilities are endless! The lady Bo I believe is her name was very kind and took the time to take my crappy of ribbon measurements. She told me I would need 2 yards. Each yard was $9.99. I believe it was a decent price. The only negative was Halina. She was very rude, but in a calm voice. She's an older lady, but that doesn't excuse that type of behavior. She spent 20 minutes or even more arguing to me about the damage I pointed out on a different item I was going to purchase. She said "if you come to shop here then you will get damage fabric. That's why the price is so low. Go to Joanna's if you want perfect fabric." I couldn't believe she was telling me go to another store. I told her I didn't know of another place that sold fabric. The only reason I found that store was because I googled "fabric store AZ" and SAS store came up. After that she kept saying she knows fabric and that she use to work at a wedding place. I said "that's good." She continues to ask me what I was going to use the fabric. I told her I needed it for photography and video background. She decides to tell me "that won't show up. You don't know fabric. I know fabric and I've been doing this for a long time." By this point I honestly was annoyed and hurt. I didn't want to argue with an older lady. I was always told respect your elders and I always did just that. So I stayed silent the only thing I told her was "what is the total for my order?" She was ringing me up, but stopped frequently to talk about the same things above. That she knows fabric and I don't know, she worked in a wedding place, etc. Finally I broke and quietly and politely I said to her "you know fabric and I know photography and video. So yes it will show. That's ok if you disagree. And it really seems like your trying to make me not purchase anything." She then says "oh no I am trying to help you. Did you check the sequin if there is any damage?" I told her yes thank you. She then says "ok good because you have yo check all fabrics before you purchase because there is no returns or exchange." In my mind I'm thinking ok so you tell me to check for damages, but when I told you about a fabric that is damage I can't get another one and you tell me to go to another store! I tell her "mam what is the total for my purchase please?" I honestly was at a point that I was going to leave and not purchase anything. The worst thing was that my baby was there watching this lady be rude. I ran out of there so fast. Final thoughts, it's a shame that I was treated so poorly because the lady previously, Bo was so nice. The place is great. I would recommend you to purchase fabric there, but with caution. Uncertain if I actually will go back. If I do return I will stay away from Halida. I don't need that type of energy around me.
