I had a problem with my sewing machine. I called the store and spoke with Lori, she was great and tried to help me over the phone, but I needed to bring the machine to the store. I cannot say enough good things about my experience. They were so helpful. Ricky, the technician took the machine, brought it back out in about 3 minutes and explained the problem and what he did to fix it. I asked how much I owed and he said nothing. A nice gentleman that was obviously a frequent customer helped me carry the machine out to my car. Everyone was so nice. I don't quilt, but it is worth it to visit the store just to see some of the amazing work they do in the store. Also, if you are looking for a sewing machine, I would definitely go there. I took my 1958 Singer Slant Needle 404 machine in for a minor repair and cleaning. I got it back in a week and am so pleased. It needed an oiling and cleaning for a long time. It now works great and very quiet. I would highly recommend this company. The staff made notes on the parts that needed adjusting and the tech noted what he did on the receipt. My wife and I visit Mulqueen's often and their entire staff are absolutely WONDERFUL! The are friendly, helpful, and always take the time to answer all of our questions; from questions about their fabric, to their notions, or even about any of the machines they have. They have a huge variety of fabrics to choose from, wall racks full of notions plus a large area of sewing, embroidery and even long arm quilting machines on display. Their pricing is extremely fair so you will get great value for the dollars you spend at Mulqueen Sewing & Fabric! All of the Mulqueen family are very friendly folks and they have an outstanding staff who are always ready to help. The ladies at the fabric cutting counter are an absolute hoot, somehow I have been labeled as 'trouble' though, LOL! It's always nice to visit with the ladies who cut the fabric while you're waiting for them to cut your selection for you. Many times the customers are helpful as well, they'll offer input when you're selecting some thread to go with your fabric for quilting. We've made a couple of larger purchases at Mulqueen's and have usually spoken with Keith to get questions answered before making a purchase. Keith will take plenty of time to answer questions and will consult with Darren or someone else in the store to get answers to questions he doesn't immediately know the answer to. I appreciate their willingness to show their limitations; you can't expect one person to be the complete expert on everything in the store. They truly make it a team effort to get you the best answers to your questions, each and every time! To any customer or potential customers, I can only say give Mulqueen's a chance! Solid, wonderful store. This is my Gramma's fabric store! with lots of big bonuses. By this I mean all the classic service and product knowledge you expect from a classic store offering the best value I could find on high quality fabric (and it wasn't a random sale, it was their everyday prices). The service was friendly without being pushy and VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. I especially appreciate how you were treated the same whether you were looking at a $20,000 sewing machine or $20 in fabric. The fabric range is wide enough to offer any style of sewist something for their stash. They have full range of Brother and Janome products and are happy to guide you through the best fit for your projects. Huge selection of patterns for quilting, modern appliqué and bag making. I love that store because I am a Janome sewing machine owner. The staff working there were all friendly and helpful. I bought my 3rd Janome sewing machine product. This time I got MC 15000 sewing machine which is more advanced and complicated with more features. The staff is not as knowledgeable as I would like. They do not offer a class for Digitizer for Apple users. I realized they were NOT computer literate as I would like. It was time consuming and frustrating as I have to figure everything. In their promotion, I asked for a complimentary gifts if I bought MC 15000 to receive a Macbook Air and Digitizer that I am entitled to receive but was given a hard time. They sold me the machine and want me to pay another $1000 in order to receive a Macbook air. I felt cheated as they failed to honor the promotional advertisement. I have to hire a lawyer to review the advertisment. The lawyer told me that I was correct that I entitled to receive a complimentary gift from Janome a free Apple Macbook Air and Artistic Digitizer. The store managers, Maria, Keith, and Janice gave me a hard time forced me to pursue legal avenue to get them to honor this advertisement. They could not change their statements to take advantage of us deaf consumers in that store. I noticed their pricings are not always consistent as they claimed. Some were overpriced. read more

I had a problem with my wife's serger machine. I'm pretty capable as a tech on small machines having worked in industry for 35 years. I followed some videos on YouTube but couldn't fix it. Bought the factory service manual online but couldn't figure out one thing. So I called Mulqueen and made an appointment to fix it but they were so busy, they couldn't even give me a date. So I explained my situation and asked to speak to the technician who fixes the serger machines. At first they were reluctant but called him anyway. I asked my question, he answered me clearly and I was able to fix the machine myself. It doesn't get any better than that! Many thanks to Mr Mulqueen for his gracious and timely advice! read more

I came in around 4ish on my maps it shows it closes at 5pm I came in to look into buying an embroidery machine I walk passed the sign they had in the front my bf did stop me to show me so I apologize and the girl ask what I came for I told her and she said I'll help you hold on she was working with another customer another older lady came over to help she did answer my questions she asked me my price range and she told me they didn't have any in stock I wish they were more helpful we walked out they locked the doors real quick behind us I called the other store in Tempe to ask for the price range they offered they seemed way more friendly plus more machines in stock but it's a far drive for the west valley read more

Gorgeous selection of quilting-friendly fabric: for about 15 exciting minutes, I wanted to quit my job and devote my life a project that involves covering the vacant lot near my house in a life-sized garden constructed entirely from fabrics in colorful small-scale prints. "Colorful" is the key word here: this is not your shop for calicos and chintzes in muted earthtones (for that, the shop up in Cave Creek is your best bet). Patterns are up-to-date, even trendy, and there's an entire section of "western" designs. If I had the space and budget to keep fabric around just to pet it and croon over it, I'd be stocking up here. (Prices are reasonable and non-scary, though not cheap-cheap-cheap. But I expect to pay a tad more for something I can't get at Walmart or Joann.) Staff is very nice, though they inevitably give "the look" when they discover I'm not a serious sewing buff and want only half a yard of one fabric. I think sewing store staff have regional association meetings where they practice "the look" and "the sigh" for people like me who aren't bulk buyers. The clerk did (sensibly) promote their sewing classes, and since the group taking one sure sounded like they were having fun, I might explore this plan later. read more

I shop at the Glendale store and find Marie and all the staff very helpful. About the women who said she could purchase same machine for a little less, you get what you pay for. Service is the number one priority when purchasing a machine. Mulqueens sells great priced maintenance agreements, and their technicians are the best. Would you drive your car without insurance? Then don't purchase a machine ANYWHERE without a maintenance agreement. It costs about 150.00 to service your machine without a plan, add it up, DID YOU REALLY SAVE ANY MONEY? and at your expense. read more

I love Mulqueen! It's a cozy place to learn new sewing skills and gain new friends. I went there to have my fifty-year-old machine cleaned and oiled, but took a look at the new machines. After explaining what I wanted in a machine (self-threading, some fancy stitches, sews many fabrics including denim, and one that could do some "crafty-things") I bought a new sewing machine. Then I signed up for a quilting class! Best decision ever! I've now taken three of "The Stitcher's Garden" class. I'm learning to applique and quilt twelve squares that will give me a complete quilt at year's end. Along the way, I'm learning to use various fancy stitches on my machine. All the staff are so talented and helpful and my fellow classmates are a treat! I'm also looking forward to taking more classes of the many they offer. read more

However, I learned after purchasing that this sewing center is highly over priced as far as machines go. The owner Patty is nasty and once she has sold you a sewing machine she will not even tell you how to thread it unless you take one of her classes. More Money has to be spent. I absolutely love the employees in this store! I went to some other "big" name stores and not only did I have to take a number BUT I got treated like a number :( After some googling I discovered this local shop within 2 miles of my home. Once in the store I was greeted with a smile and extremely knowledgeable staff who took the time to explain numerous things to me since I am new to sewing and quilting. I learned that they offer classes on all types of topics, have a fun site on Facebook and every time I visit they take the time to ensure I am satisfied.
