First and foremost, Doctor Avakian's office is the most precise and thorough office I have ever been in Glendale. The office staff are professional and knowledgeable and servicing the patients with an utmost care. They all make sure appointments are reminded and confirmed, calls are answered on timely matters and any additional authorizations and approvals are fully taking care of by their staff. Patients files are reviewed thoroughly to make sure everyone gets the maximum care needed. One of the most important points about Doctor Avakian is that he knows all of his patients by their medical history. He spends time with each patient as much as they need medical help. My husband and I are his patient for years and so are most of my family and friends. My review is not about the doctor. It's about the staff. Ladies in the front desk are absolutely unprofessional, rude and have no regards for patient and their medical condition. Older lady with dark hair and she's somewhat tall I've never seen somebody that rude that works in medical field she looks like she is in charge. She refused to care or listen or help to make sure my father's life is not in risk. Stopping a patient blood pressure is extremely Unacceptable. My mother and father both were patients of doctor saro my father had some problem with his insurance that was not aware of and then while we were on the process of getting everything on track the staff stoped sending his blood pressure prescription To our pharmacy because they wanted him to come for visit and pay $350 for visit. My father goes to 3 other doctors too non of those doctors have done that the entire time that he had problem with his insurance they made sure he is getting his medication. This is absurd. You should not risk patient live. And not to mention they have been paid by my fathers insurance for all of the visits. But still they refuse to send his blood pressure prescription to the pharmacy. read more

Worst office and staff I have ever encountered with in my whole life! Very rude and unprofessional I dont know how they are even hired!!! The front desk is lazy I called 3 times a for information to be faxed which wasn't and the fact they had the audacity to yell and hang up WOW. From my personal experience over years with him, I can say he truly listens to his patients, is thorough with his explanations, and makes you feel very welcome. I absolutely do NOT recommend this place. I did not end up using the doctor service but I will state my reasons below for this review: 1. I called the doctors office and the staff was very rude and unreasonable to talk with. 2. They demanded $120 upfront for ANY kind of visit. 3. They said they will refund it back if insurance does cover the cost but I have to pay $120 upfront. 4. I was planning to go for a wellness visit which is covered by my PPO insurance (and I am sure its covered by most insurances) but they insisted on paying upfront $120 even for tele visit. Dr. Avakian has been my primary care physician for 5 years. He is one of the most professional, caring and knowledgeable doctors I've known. I'm a pharmacist so I have high expectations when it comes to medical personnel and Dr. Avakian has shown me time and time again how clinically knowledgeable he is with all disease states and how aggressively he treats diseases and conditions for the better of his patients. More importantly, Dr. Avakian is really passionate with his medical care. He takes the time to listen to his patients and really empathizes with their condition. His staff is wonderful to deal with as well. They are always helpful in dealing with my insurance and willing to submit prior authorizations for necessary tests or medications. No more drugs for me! Dr. Avakian helped me beat Type II diabetes! He analyzed my body type and blood work and came up with a diet that included intermittent fasting. Of course, this won't work for everyone, but I've been struggling with my weight for 20+ years with all sorts of diets and he finally solved my issue. You feel very comfortable when you talk with Dr. Avakian, he doesn't rush you, he truly helps you with your problems. Having HMO, you really have to hunt around to find a doc that actually cares and is knowledgable. I scrolled through and read some of the 1 star reviews, and based on what these people had to say and their perception of the office staff and the doc, I imagine they complain about a lot of other things too. Dr Avakian and his staff are literally on it. For the first time in a while I feel good about my treatment. Its nothing fancy, but it's good. They have a lot of patients I imagine, so I would think sometimes things fall through and not everyone has a good experience. I suggestion to you is, try them out and make up your own opinion. BE AWARE - Very Disappointment. I selected Saro Avakian as my PCP based on the reviews - and was I WRONG to rely on FAKE reviews. There is no way to have an opposite experience to what the "positive" reviews are stating-Unless these positive reviews are his friends and relatives. Hmmm This Dr. should NOT be practicing medicine. ZERO knowledge, ZERO compassion, ZERO Bed site manner- keep repeating 20 years of school he completed. Just rushing out to make MORE MONEY on the next unfortunate person. 1st appointment- physical: He DID NOT even come close to the patient and did not check anything - I have NEVER seen a physical appointment when doctor doesn't even check the basic things: like your eyes, ears etc. He just asked questions and ordered blood test. I was kind of surprised but thought ok- maybe this doc has a different practicing system and after the results he will complete the physical as I have seen with my prior doctors. 2nd appointment was same exact way. Also, during my 1st visit, I asked for a referral and did not hear from them for almost 3 weeks. I know they have forgotten because after calling them within few days my referral came in. The only time I had a good experience with this doctor and his staff was when I became a first time patient. He was kind and knowledgeable and I'd thought cool, glad to have this guy as a doctor. Fast forward to a year later and let me tell you the reasons you should go to him: If you enjoy having to make appointments a month in advance. If you enjoy being put on hold by the front desk girls then have them hang up on you. If you are an Armenian elderly, no seriously. (When I call and speak in only Armenian I have a greater chance of not being put on hold than if I call and speak in English) If you have no serious ailments and only need to go for regular checkups. I wanted an allergy test and the doctor verbatim told me that "there are no tests for allergies." I will be changing my doctor as of today and make sure to tell my insurance company to update their reviews because he comes highly recommended! Let me begin by saying ANYONE who has the audacity to say Dr. Avakian is unprofessional or a bad doctor is an incompetent fool. I work in the medical field and I see who is good and who is bad and Dr. Avakian is honestly one of the best around. Yes, sometimes you may have to wait a little after your appointment time but that may happen in any medical setting due to medical emergencies. Doctors get calls, texts, and paged all day and all night. It is their fiduciary duty to respond to those matters which is why sometimes we may be asked to wait. Now back to Dr. Avakian....he is absolutely wonderful! He is extremely knowledgeable, kind, humble, caring and respectful to everyone. He listens, takes his time with his patients, and explains things clearly. I do not recommend Dr. Saro Avakian to even treat my dog., Your claim that your staff is respectful and patient had proven to be a big lie., she is extremely disrespectful and abrupt, she lied when she said I cursed at her., second of all it was you who kept calling her every day to switch over her from Dr. yadigaryian's office to your office, she switched over to your office because she felt pity on you, but now that you treated her this way she has a message for you, " you are being terminated as my primary care", she will go back to Dr. yadigaryian's care for he had proven to be a much more decent human being and more professional and caring doctor than you. I was forced to give a single star to write the review or else it would have been NONE ! one of the most unprofessional offices I've been too so far if DR. Avakian paid more attention to his staff and hired people that paid more attention to patients waiting 50 minutes over their appointment time instead of playing with iPhones maybe you would have a productive place . No care for people missing hours of work to be there they assume we can sit there for hours like the elderly with nothing to do . Why give people a time to be there and have them come early ( which I did to do paperwork and was ready 20 minutes before my appointment) but still wasn't called in almost hour passed my time . He is one of the unprofessional and careless doctor that I saw in my life. He send patient to the ER on the phone and not visited the patient till next day nights in hospital. My mom discharged from hospital late last night. The nurse gave us a list of medication that should call the doctor in the morning to proscrib to pharmacy because don't have those new medication. I called his office in the morning, they don't follow up and I had to call them several times. The last time the receptionist told me you bother us by calling and then conected to doctor. Unprofessional and unrespectful doctor told me that I am doing harassment by calling and told me this is what it is if you don't like don't come and hang out the phone.
