This review will be short and straight to the point. I was feeling for the mall teriyaki chicken so I stopped into this restaurant after work, being it's not to far. I honestly should of just went to the mall! I paid close to 13 dollars for their teriyaki chicken. And shrimp over brown rice and salad. Now hear me out, I will spend my last on a meal BUT the food quality and quantity doesn't match up to their price . The food was ok nothing spectacular the customer service however was GREAT. I was in and out with no long wait time. Would I return ? I highly doubt it but I thank the workers for their excellent customer service. read more

It seems as when this location changed the majority of its staff, it change the quality and quantity of what they gave their customers. The prices of gotten more expensive and the portion sizes have shrunk almost half. My last time coming here it had questionable results but we tried to give them another chance. That will not be happening again. I received 6 shrimp, in claiming it was 4 oz of beef more like 2 and a 1/2. Being someone who's had to measure their food before, I'm well aware with 4 oz looks like, like a burger patty. And if that wasn't bad enough, I requested more veggies than rice. When we opened it and showed it to the manager he made up some nonsense and almost put his fingers in my open container! Been a loyal customer via DoorDash since 2020. I love this spot. I would give them 5-stars but have to go with 4 because it seems their proportions overtime have gotten smaller. I wish I had a picture from last year because they used to give a lot. I can understand a restaurant changing their servings but I miss having a lot of food. Anyways. The taste remains and to me, it's good! It reminds me of a place I used to go to at a mall in Virginia. So it gives me nostalgia. I will always choose this place on DoorDash as my go-to when I can't cook dinner or think of a lunch place to eat at. I went to the location once. It was pretty nice...of course seating was closed though because that was during heavy COVID times. And when I went there, all the employees were helpful and attentive! They're back! Which is perfect since I went back to work and can finally grab some teriyaki again to take out. Masks are required to enter this establishment. Staff are wearing masks and gloves. There is a plexiglass installed at the counter to protect both staff and customer. All of their seating and tables have been removed and pushed to the side. There is only takeout available, no delivery last I checked. That's all the updates I have as of August 2020. Eh... OK. Lunch was cheap, as this is actually Japanese Fast Food. The Shrimp Tempura looked incredibly mass-produced, but were very crunchy, steaming hot, and I loved them. The fried dumplings were dry and somewhat boring. The dumpling sauce they serve for them made me laugh, as they're served in a small plastic sauce container, but while one of them were filled with the sauce about 50% full, the other container was filled less than 25% of the way. What am I gonna do with a little bit of sauce like that? The guy at the counter gave me a couple of extra sauce cups. The spring rolls, like the Shrimp Tempura, has a really nice crunch. Other than that, I found it to be dull. All in all, I would not rush back. When I eat Japanese, I like a real "restaurant" experience. To me, to eat Japanese is a cultural experience... it's not like eating a slice of pizza to me. Furthermore, having owned a restaurant myself, my opinion is that even a "fast food" Japanese food establishment like this one can do quite a bit better. Remember Chipotle in their first few years of existence? They were incredible, yet they were considered to be fast food. That's what I'm talking about. Sarku is not of that caliber. They serve their duck sauce in single serve packets, for example. Still, if you're looking for some cheap Japanese, and you're not hung up on a cultural experience as I am, you might want to check this place out. read more

Came here late Sunday 11/17 (5pm?) with friends and family on the way back from Gateway Center. I haven't had sakura teriyaki in a long time and friend suggested here saying it's basically one level up from mall court food teriyaki. It was big spacious & clean place that have the teriyaki + bentou boxes + prepackaged sushi. I ordered #1 chicken teriyaki with extra sauce to go. It took awhile since they were making it fresh (yay for fresh hot food) and my friends got theirs first (they were ahead of me ordering so make sense they got theirs first before me). I chatted with the girl at the register while waiting for the food. She was getting off soon and going home to her little girl- stay warm girl! She was friendly and nice. Our food was hot and yummy. I first visited this Sarku location when I was pregnant with my son. My hubby and I had the intent to go to the Pizza Hut next door but then the photos in the window of Sarku caught our eye. I figured I would give it a try since I was pregnant and craved something different and this would be my first time trying out Japanese American food. I was quite satisfied with the taste of my food. I had the chicken teriyaki which comes with a side of steamed vegetables and your choice of white rice, fried rice, brown rice or lo mein. Probably the best chicken teriyaki fast food I've had. Delicious chicken teriyaki and a generous portion- very filling. It was only an additional $1 for extra chicken, which is a pretty good deal for the amount you get. They give you extra sauce on the side without asking, which is a plus. You could also swap the white rice for fried rice, noodles, or brown rice for only a slight additional cost - which I feel isn't too bad for the personalization that it allows. The new Japanese around the way spot. It's no Benihana's or hibachi spot but it does it's justice. Usually located in shopping malls, Sarku has a nice selection of Japanese food including sushi. I have yet to try to sushi or California rolls but intend too very soon. So far have only tried their chicken teriyaki bowl which was very good. The one thing that I feel Sarku can use to improve somewhat is an additional register or two to improve line service because it tends to get fairly crowded here during peak lunch hours and also early dinner hours. But you do have the option to call to pre-order to pick up your food but if you are going here off a whim be prepared to stand on line for quite a few minutes as at times the waiters behind the register are taking orders on line as well as on the phone at times. read more

Good food! No pictures unfortunately due to laziness but the pics that are already here and on google are very accurate. I got the regular chicken teriyaki platter with added on beef. Quality of meat was good for fast food and tasted like actual meat which is always a good thing. Steamed veggies were on point. I would have liked more rice tbh but I love rice so maybe that's just me, if I hadn't had the sushi rolls on the side I probably wouldn't have been full. Teriyaki chicken roll was good and Cali was also good. The portion of rice I received was almost identical compared to my boyfriends cheaper bento box, when you open it it's deceiving cause the meat is everywhere but then you start eating and realize only half the container has rice in it and on top of that it's skimped. They make standard teriyaki chicken at a good price. I like that get include a cup of extra teriyaki sauce with your food. This is my first time eating here and it was very great! The customer service was impeccable. As soon as we arrived we were greeted with smiles and a cashier willing to help. The decor of the place was spacious and I loved the modern feel to it. I ordered a Chicken Bento box and my fiancé got Chicken teriyaki. The sushi in my box (California Rolls) tasted fresh, and had real crabmeat and not the fake kind. The dumplings were delicious and most importantly, or chicken teriyaki's were AMAZING! I have no idea why there aren't more Japanese restaurants around, I prefer them over Chinese any day. I would definitely eat here again and recommend it to others. read more

Miso soup was watery but I didn't feel like it would make me sick. The tempura roll was grey and something I bit down on was very hard. Pickled ginger tasted like nail polish remover. Ate two bites. My husband ordered three chicken and shrimps over the phone. When he got home, we discovered that none of the orders had shrimp in them. We called the same day and let them know what happened. They claimed they would give us shrimp with our order the next time we came. When my husband went today, they said they needed the receipt. Then they offered to give him two orders with shrimp at no extra cost as if they were doing him a favor. He said he wanted what he paid for but they refused. I don't know what to think about this place. It was fine the first time. But the second I went there, there wasn't a clean table in the entire place. Every single table was sticky with soda cup rings. It was disgusting. The beef and rice were good and the chicken and rice were good, but the fake wasabi didn't even try to hide the fact that was fake. It felt like gum. It was hard and dark. The chicken egg roll was all mush inside with no chicken. The put a salad in a closed container with hot food and you get a steamed, hot salad and it's inedible. All you see is soggy steamed warm lettuce. The soda station was filthy and it's not like the place was particularly busy where someone couldn't wipe the place down with a wet towel.
