I ordered on Doordash for pickup and paid a little premium, next time I'll just order in person. That said, $16 for a shrimp and chicken bento, which includes spring rolls, dumplings and a California roll is a great value for a TON of food. The store itself looked clean and they had a sign on the wall for buy 6, get your 7th free. Not quite sure how that works, maybe they give you a punch card like Teriyaki One?

I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Special, which is…read morecurrently on promotion for $9.99, and you can add a soda for just $10.29, making it a great value for a filling meal. The place itself is well-maintained and clean, with plenty of seating available if you choose to dine in. It has a casual, modern setup that feels comfortable, perfect for a quick lunch or lazy low-key dinner. Service was very fast and friendly, and my order came out quickly without feeling rushed or sloppy. Food-wise, the taste is solid and satisfying. The chicken was glazed nicely with teriyaki sauce, flavorful, and paired well with the rice. The overall dish tastes exactly like what you'd expect from your typical mall food court-style teriyaki, comforting, familiar, and dependable. The rice was cooked well, and the veggies added a nice texture, though I do wish they included a bit more vegetables to better balance the three components (protein, rice, and veggies). One nice perk is their promotion stamp card which is order six times and you get one free, which is a nice incentive if you're a regular or work nearby. Overall, Teppanyaki One delivers good flavor, fast service, and excellent value. It's not trying to be fancy, but it does what it's supposed to do well. With slightly more veggies, it would be even better, but as is, it's a dependable spot I'd happily return to.

Side note: There's two chains named this and Teriyaki One with both having virtually the exact same…read morewebsite and the exact same menu down to the specialty rolls and I would bet a large amount of $ they are the same place. Anyway, this is one of the many locations of this teriyaki chain with the closest one being the very similarly named Teriyaki One in Downtown Brooklyn (see above) next to 7th Street on Jay which is $1.30 cheaper ($9.69 compared to $8.39.) I believe they replaced a Subway but I might be mistaken and the food is similar to Sarku, the teriyaki chain found in many malls. They have a special which is for now but who knows how long that's going to last where if you get the chicken at full price for $9.39, you can get another one for half off which is a pretty good deal especially for the neighborhood. They have a special with chicken with cabbage and rice for $9.69 which I got though I don't know the difference between the regular and the special. It was decent. The sauce wasn't cloyingly sweet which makes it a bit better than Sarku. The chicken itself wasn't that tasty being a bit gummy and the rice was a bit hard in places while the cabbage lacked flavor. It's in short a bit better than your average fast food but not by much. I might stop to get two of these for cheap but for full price, there's better options (not to mention the half off stuff at Ten Ichi past 8:00.)

As a child, my friends and I would treat ourselves to a sushi lunch whenever we'd be able to make…read moreit in time for the lunch special following our last period of school. To that point, we always knew the go-to spots for good quality rolls (Nagoya, Omiya, Chikurin, Tenzen, etc.). Until recently, I thought they weren't unique in providing such fare until I had a recent delivery from a place around my neighborhood that was flavourless slop. That was a month ago, and I figure I'd go somewhere I trusted from the past to refresh my taste buds; my hope was that Chikurin would give me that nostalgic flavour and quality without breaking the bank -- after a decade, it still delivers on those promises! I ordered takeout through DoorDash on a sleepy Friday afternoon following the New Year's holiday, and thankfully due to the frost, the place wasn't really busy. I remember such sushi places taking upwards of 45 minutes (a worthwhile wait for school kids who didn't have much money), but my order was ready within 20 minutes, which was impressive. The 3 maki roll lunch special is $11.95 ordering through them, and a 2$ add on through DoorDash, but do go ahead and price-check with any coupons you might have. Even without the discount, twelve bucks for three rolls, a salad, and a miso soup is a STEAL anywhere. It took about a half hour for me to cycle home and defrost, and the food was still warm and flavourful. Each and every roll was flavourful and well-presented. Something that some places can get wrong is literally just the rice base, but Chikurin always gets it right. I ended up getting two lunch specials, and I can promise that each of these 6 rolls were delectable: Eel Avocado; Philadelphia; Ginza; Shrimp Tempura; Chicken Tempura; Spicy Tuna Crunch. You really can't go wrong with such a bargain. I would come and eat here in person, if I didn't live as far -- the fully stocked bar looks intriguing. Happy eats!
