The salmon and shrimp poke bowl that I got from them was nasty, tasted stale and I almost got sick from it. Steer clear.

Sarku Japan - California Roll

My first visit to Sarku Japan in Canarsie, Brooklyn, was a pleasant experience…read more I signed up through their app and received a $5 discount on my first order. My chicken and shrimp teriyaki combo, originally priced at $15, came down to just $10 after applying the promo--a great deal considering the portion size. I ordered the chicken and shrimp teriyaki combo with stir-fried rice, stir-fried noodles, cabbage, and four California rolls. The portions were generous, and everything was well-coated in teriyaki sauce. The sauce had a light but flavorful profile, possibly a mix of light and dark soy sauce, giving it a perfect balance of sweet and savory. The stir-fried rice and noodles absorbed the sauce well, making each bite delicious. The shrimp was the highlight--juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The chicken was tender and had a satisfying chew. My only small critique was the cabbage: I would've preferred it cut into finer pieces rather than served as large leaves, but it still worked well in the meal. The California rolls were decent, considering they came as part of the combo. The rice was a bit sticky and clumped together, but they were still enjoyable. I was a bit confused by the dipping sauce provided--it tasted like duck sauce, which isn't typical for sushi. I wasn't sure if it was meant for the sushi or the cabbage, but I used it for the rolls anyway. While unusual, it worked well enough. The dining experience was surprisingly nice. The restaurant was clean, spacious, and quiet, with plenty of seating--a rare find in fast-casual spots. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the cashier recommended the shrimp and chicken combo, which turned out to be an excellent choice. For drinks, they offer a variety of canned sodas, including Coke products like Fanta and Sprite, which was convenient. Pro Tip: If you're in the area, I recommend picking up your order rather than relying on delivery. Canarsie tends to have heavy traffic, and delivery service can be inconsistent. Picking up ensures your food stays fresh and avoids any delays. Generous portions, flavorful teriyaki, and great value, especially with the app discount. Combined with excellent service and a comfortable dining environment, this Sarku Japan location is definitely worth a visit. I'll be back!

I honestly should of just went to the mall! I paid close to 13 dollars for their teriyaki chicken. And shrimp over brown rice and salad. Now hear me out, I will spend my last on a meal BUT the food quality and quantity doesn't match up to their price . The food was ok nothing spectacular the customer service however was GREAT. I was in and out with no long wait time. Would I return ? I highly doubt it but I thank the workers for their excellent customer service.

This is their very plain teriyaki bowl…read more For what you're getting, it's pretty decent -- especially if you're just grabbing something casual on the way to work. For about $10, you get a large portion of fried rice with chicken and vegetables. You get most out of it when you add all your reward points to it. It all tastes pretty bland, like it's just there, drenched in tangy soy sauce. You also get a soda, which is basically a lot of sugar with no real nutrients. The service was decent. It was like served to me under five minutes at most. I can't rate it really high, but yeah -- it's pretty average, pretty mid.

Decided to stop here for lunch after a little shopping in the plaza. Passed this place a few times…read moreand decided to give it a shot. Everything freshly prepared when ordered, my kind of place. The fried chicken dumplings were very flavorful along with the dipping sauce provided with them. Nice and crispy. The bento box was pretty good as well. The beef and shrimp nicely cooked and sauced over some white rice and served with three fried chicken dumplings, two spring rolls and a salad. While the salad was good, didn't care much for the dressing used on it. I'm used to an Asian ginger style dressing with the salad. The spring roll was flavorful but felt was overpowered with cilantro slightly. But it was nicely fried and perfect crispy shell. Staff were helpful even though busy but that's ok in my book. Folks want their food in a timely manner, and they accomplish that here. Slightly pricey but they offer some specials that are a good deal for a good meal. Next visit will give their sushi rolls a try. Restaurant is very clean, neat with a few tables and seats, small groups could meet up for a good meal.

A step into a magical oasis outside of the neighborhood…read more I'm sad to say this restaurant will be closing soon and that is the reason we visited. But my goodness do I wish we had visited earlier. Upon entering we noticed how small and cozy this place was. The service is spectacular and attentive and the omakase was a pleasant experience. And the fish was all so delicious. The best squid I've ever had. All so simple yet elevated. This is definitely not something you'd expect to experience in this neighborhood.

I made a spontaneous decision to walk in after returning a package at the UPS store across the street. I was famished and had a craving for sushi. I was greeted and asked if I had a reservation. No, I didn't but I was nonetheless quickly seated at a table. I waited a while to receive the menu but I remained patient after I observed the server was busy with other guests. He informed me that it was busy and thanked me for my patience. Shortly after, he took my order for drinks then my meal. I selected the seaweed salad, Sushi Delux, and plum wine. Everything was fresh and delicious. It reminded me of my visit to Japan. I wanted more of everything!!!! *The portions are served like traditional Japanese portions so please don't visit here to complain that it's not larger enough. Go to enjoy the food and tell your friends about it. I will definitely return!
