Apparently the Sardi's in College Park is better? This Alexandria one left much to be desired. Everytime I eat here my chicken is either too dry or the skin is too flabby... not crispy at all. The Yucca and other sides are the only thing that save this place. Their sauces (which are pre-packaged) taste so odd... almost like they belong on a salad and not chicken. If you grew up eating Peruvian chicken then you know exactly how you want your sauces to taste like and Sardi's sauce really miss the mark. They have a huge fan base, regardless of what I've said here; maybe they love it due to nostalgia, but the Alexandria location is not it!! read more

Traveling to DC from RVA this weekend and stopped to grab a quick dinner to take back to our room. This was a pleasant surprise. From the moment we walked into this Peruvian Chicken spot we were flooded with great smells and big greetings from the staff. The menu was huge and had everything from Charcoal chicken; lamb chops; kabobs and much more. A staff member who had already greeted us asked if we needed help choosing. He gave us a run down of his favs and even let us sample the roasted Brussel Sprouts and freshly cooked plantain! And wow my taste buds did quite the dance. If you ordered chicken and sides everything was ready; however the pupusa; empanadas; wings and a few other items are made to order but only take about 15 minutes. From the staff cooking; fixing your food; order takers all the way to the cashier. The customer service was top tier and the food was even better. Everything was hot and fresh. My suggestion.... Get the half chicken with rice and black beans; roasted Brussels and plantain. Oh and grab a black bean and cheese pupusa for a late night snack! You won't be disappointed. We don't have a Sardis in Richmond but I'll def be back in July! read more

During lunch, I grabbed their half-chicken special. It's $17 for two large pieces of chicken and two small sides. I got white rice and roasted veggies. I ordered two thighs to go with the sides. After driving 20 minutes back to the office, I then began to enjoy the food. Honestly, the food was still pretty good. The chicken was juicy and the veggies were delicious. The service was quick and the restaurant looked pretty clean. The whole process was smooth. I will add this restaurant to my lunch rotation. read more

Since then we now have one across the river in Oxon hills area near top golf and in DC it's been great watching them grow. We absolutely love Sardis. Sardis will get the job done EVERY SINGLE TIME. I have never been disappointed by Sardis. The portion sizes, flavor, the staff, all wonderful! You will get your money's worth here. Crazy enough the last time I went here there was an accident and someone passed out in the establishment. The staff was so quick to rush to the person's side and about 3-4 staff members stayed with the person showing so much care until the ambulance arrived. I would avoid this Sardis location at all costs. The only thing good about this location was the food. Service was terrible. When asked a simple request to make an onion salad, they refused and said it would take too long. They made it and only took 3 minutes. I wanted to try Sardis since it's a popular franchise for pollo a la brasa, one of my favorite casual things to eat. It loses some of the charm of local pollo places. They do not make sauces fresh on site, no blended jalapeño verde sauce. Their sauces are all packaged in cups, and Mayo based. Almost $16 for a quarter dark chicken, wow! Remember back in the day when you could get almost a whole chicken for that much? Overall, chicken is good, but not one of the better pollo places. read more

The days of loving Sardis are over! This is my second time at this particular location and both times they have been awful. I have never been to an establishment where they give you so little food and when you ask for "a little more", they will roll their eyes at you. This location is very stingy and it shows. After this visit, I will no longer patronize Sardis. Mind you, this was our go-to Peruvian spot and one of our favorite in the DMV. Not only has their prices doubled ($16) but their portion size has gotten significantly smaller. If restaurants want to blame high prices due to supply chain issues and inflation, fine. But I have said it once and will say it again, if your portion size and quality of ingredients are also decreasing then you have lost my business. My container was half empty and on top of that the food was horrendous. My chicken was dry and unseasoned, rice was stale, and the plantains did not have any sweetness to them. There are far better Peruvian chicken joints in the area that offer better quality food with a price that matches. read more

This was my first time trying Sardi's. I've heard so many good things from friends so I decided to jump on the bandwagon. I ordered the Salmon with garlic broccoli, mashed potatoes, and an additional side of yucca fries. Note that the meal automatically comes with white rice. This the new Alexandria location and i wanted to check it out since i have been to the falls church one. It looks clean, employees seem nice and welcoming. I got the 3pc dark meat plate with a side of white rice and veggies. The chicken was a bit dry for my taste and would have loved it if it was moist and lil bit more flavorful. The sides were great .I haven't gone to a Sardi's as good as the one in gaithersburg with the chicken always being on point, moist, flavorful and they always give u a lil more food.. I went in for lunch and after a few minutes of waiting , I was asked what I wanted to order. I got the 3 piece dark for about 10 bucks which honestly wasnt a bad price. As they chopped the chicken and prepared my plate i was surprised to see how small these pieces were. The plate also came with two sides with which I got rice and yucca. The rice and yucca were really good. The rice had a nice flavor and the yucca was crispy on the outside without being dry on the inside but nice and fluffy. read more
