Granite Expo - Emeryville - Very modern two-tone kitchen cabinets

Installation was ok, but I felt like once the cabinets were in my house they didn't want to deal with me anymore. It was hard to get the refund for the extra panels and there were several teeny tiny sliver of pieces that I ordered but never received. My cabinet installer was able to create pieces to fit in these spaces (around the sink, above the refrigerator) but they were missing the factory finish, so they had rough edges. My biggest issue was that when we removed the plastic from the cabinets, the plastic coating on the larger pieces came off clean, but the plastic coating on the factory finished pieces would not budge. Even with all heart gun the plastic protective coating was very difficult to take off. It took several hours to remove the coating and even then, there was still adhesive left behind. I complained to Granite Expo and they simply didn't believe me and said of there was anything wrong with the cabinets, it was my fault. You live and you learn. Aside from the adhesive that won't come off, the quality of cabinets is good. I really wanted white high gloss cabinets and I mostly have that. I'm coming to terms with the mixture of high gloss and (sticky) matte finish on my kitchen cabinets since I have no other choice.

5-Star Review for Marti (and Alana!) at All Natural Stone…read more As a Project Manager at Green Bay Modeling, I've worked with many showroom reps over the years, and All Natural Stone continues to stand out largely because of the amazing support I've received from both Marti and Alana. Before Marti became my main rep this past year, I had the pleasure of working with Alana, who was always helpful, responsive, and supportive throughout our early project phases. She consistently pointed me in the right direction, and I truly appreciated the foundation she helped me build with the showroom. In the past year, Marti has become my primary rep, and she has been an absolute game-changer for my workflow. She is hands down my favorite rep to work with. My clients love her, I love working with her, and she has a genuine gift for helping us bring beautiful projects together. Her design insight is sharp, her follow-through is impeccable, and she's incredibly proactive often anticipating needs before I even ask. Whether we're sourcing slabs, selecting tile, or coordinating details, Marti makes the entire process smooth, efficient, and enjoyable. Both Marti and Alana have contributed to my great experiences with All Natural Stone, but Marti's support this past year has truly elevated my projects and strengthened the trust my clients have in our selections. She's an exceptional rep, a reliable partner, and a joy to collaborate with. If you want a team that will treat your project with care, professionalism, and genuine enthusiasm, Marti and the entire ANS crew are unbeatable.

I sent dimensions and a site image and was able to get a quote without a site visit. Our installer was very detail oriented and discovered our wall was not completely flush, which meant that the tile at the top of the wall would be a slightly different width than the one at the bottom. We discussed different strategies for approaching this problem. The zellige we received was also highly variable in quality and color. I asked our installer to pick out the tile in the best condition since we had ordered 10-20% extras and were very happy with the results.

My partner and I even made mock ups of the design we wanted to achieve. Noe was responsive over text when taking down our requirements, giving quotes, and estimating how much material we should purchase which we purchased on our own (though we might have over purchased our material by 20%, I'd much rather have extra than not enough!). Noe handled the tile and grout pick up when it was ready for installation day, and took care of the misc material purchases (finishing metal edge trim, tileset/cement, etc). Adrian and Luis are fantastic installers. Adrian's communication was really top notch (he kept us informed and updated often) and ran through options and recommended solutions when we encountered a bit of a snag with our subfloor and evened it out for us (we wanted to elongate and cut the corners of our rectangular entry way tile). Luis' tile work also really great. His cuts were clean, tiles were even/level, spacing of the grout lines were pretty even as well. I've had tile work done through a general contractor before (they had some rough cuts and some pretty bad tile lippage leading to uneven surfaces) - their quality is nothing compared to Luis' work, our entry way and fireplace with the herringbone pattern looks so good and it matched our mock ups very closely - they really brought our vision to reality! The three of them Noe, Adrian, and Luis really do live up to their company name as Tile Experts and they are very competitive with their pricing. You can check out the before and after photos (just ignore the ugly carpet in the pictures, we have not replaced it yet!) We are really happy and impressed with the work they did for us and would go back to them for any future tile work.

Tl;dr Great price point for relatively good quality solid wood cabinets compared to other places that does mixed-MDF and costs more. My SIL recommended Granite Expo for their price point and quality. They use Milzen brand cabinets and the cabinet builder is just 2 minutes away from their store. My review is on the kitchen cabinets and the purchasing process. I shopped around at other local SF, Oakland, and Hayward cabinet shops and had a rendering made from their Emeryville location before deciding to move forward with buying from Granite Expo Oakland location. I was able to speak to a rep within 10 minutes with my rendering to place my order, we did 15 cabinets in M21 Hollis White cabinets (shaker style) and it was ready to pick up within the same week. On pick up day, we brought our truck and made 2 runs. The warehouse workers helped load in which was so helpful, and handles were included in the price. They have a lot in stock, just need time to build or can sell it to you not built if preferred for pick up. Overall a smooth purchase and the sales associate I worked with was well-versed in helping beginners like me with a consultation, and not too chatty or pressuring to up sell. Good spot for a no frills buy.
