We visited Atlanta for the weekend and looking for a local place to grab some breakfast on the go. We searched breakfast joints nearby and Sara Donuts came up with great reviews. The donut shop is a quaint size but has a great variety of breakfast goodies for every palate to enjoy. They offer standard donuts (glazed, frosted with sprinkles, powdered), special donuts (cake donuts, apple fritters, cinnamon rolls, and eclairs), and savory rolls (sausages in bread or croissant rolls). My favorite feature is their ability to fill donuts upon request: they have machines with various fillings that they can fill donuts ask they pack them. The dough stays fluffy and not damp from the filling. The donuts were all delicious. They were fluffy and light, not overly sweet. I enjoyed the savory rolls, but it's best to microwave them for a few seconds to soften the bread. I wish we had a small business donut shop as amazing as Sara Donuts in Florida, but I'll definitely be back to visit the next time I'm in the Duluth area. read more

I love Sara donuts. They open early at 5am, which is early enough for me to grab them for work. They have lots of selection if you show up early. I was able to grab a variety dozen quickly. Sara donuts located on Medlock Bridge Rd in Duluth is hands-down one of the best donut places I've been to not just in Gwinnett county but the Atlanta area As a whole! I discovered Sarah donuts while staying the with some friends who reside not far from here. As far as the service goes, I would argue that it's pretty consistent and the people working behind the counter are very friendly! The day I went (12/19/23) there was one lady behind the counter, she was nothing but nice to me and my mom throughout our visit here. The donut I had was a red velvet! It was cooked at the right temperature and amazing as it touched my mouth. This is a nice little casual donut shop and it is very convenient anytime you wanna get a quick donut and get on your way! The quality and taste matched exactly how they looked.. perfect, fresh and delicious. The donuts are made fresh daily, all the filled donuts are filled right there on the spot when you order it (impressive) and they're not stingy with any of the ingredients. The filled donuts are filled, the maple bacon donuts have a bunch of bacon, and the icing donuts have a good amount of icing. I've been to another Sara Donuts closer to me, and it didn't it taste or look the same as this location. I drove further for this specific location because the quality was consistently better and I'll definitely always come here because of how warmhearted the owner is and how friendly all the other staff is. I visited over a month ago for the first time and talked about how my brother found this place and it reminded me of a mom and pop shop in Houston, TX. I came in today and she immediately remembered our conversation about Texas and was just as nice and friendly as before. She's only seen me once, and I don't think anything visually stood out to be memorable. The donuts are great, but that lady really showed me how much of a gem she and her store are and how much love and effort goes into this place. I would never reach for a glazed donut, a cakey one at that, but it was my FAVORITE. It's saying a lot when a donut place can impress with such simple original recipe without any bedazzled stuff going on. - maple eclair and Bavarian cream filled donut. She fills the cream after you order so the dough doesn't get soggy, which I've never seen a donut place do and I've realized, it makes a huge difference. The only thing I didn't like about these was that the cream was the same for eclair and Bavarian donut. Nonetheless, cream was NOT overwhelmingly sweet which often they can be. They were perfect amount of sweetness to compliment the donut as a whole. Overall, the best donut spot I've been to. The doughnuts here are excellent, but let's be honest: I come here for the jalapeno sausage rolls. Twelve years ago, I left Houston, Texas, and little did I know it would take 12 years for me to find an Atlanta spot at which I could satisfy my craving for jalapeno sausage kolaches. This spot does it for me. I love them. And I literally have to limit myself to two because I am quite certain I could eat a dozen. Other notables include the red velvet doughnut, which has a nice glazed shell on the outside, but has an almost cake-like consistency inside. It's like having cake for breakfast (which is certainly no sin in my book). The Devil's Food doughnut is also a treat. I would be hard pressed to find something I did not like here. Dang. These donuts are guuuud. Don't judge the place by its outward appearance but just go in and give it a try~ And not even joking.... you HAVE TO come EARLY to get the good stuff. Although I read the reviews before going, I went in on a Tuesday thinking it wouldn't be that busy... but boy did I underestimate the quality of these donuts. I went at around 10:45 AM and of course the red velvet and blueberry donuts would already be sold out! UGH! I need to come back again closer to 7:30-8am if I wanna taste those donuts ): but it's no joke... if you want the best sellers, you gotta come earlier than 9-10am (seeing as how this place closes at 12pm or whenever they sell out). I got a half dozen donuts with what were available - two twisted cinnamon donuts, one plain glazed donut, one chocolate glazed donut, one chocolate glazed chocolate donut and a cream filled eclair.
