So, my toddler's a bit of a donut expert, and let me tell you, this was a hard pass for both of us. He took a couple of bites of his blue donut, looked at me dead in the eye, and said, "No. Not good." Pretty sure that's a universal toddler review for "don't bother." Got a secret folks... this morning while getting my car serviced I took a walk and discovered a wonderful donut shop. Joy Donuts! Wonderful fresh donuts with good coffee are served by friendly people eager to please. Seriously I am not from Dacula but I will make the drive to come back to get these fresh tasty gems. The photos while showing the creativity do not do justice to the quality and taste. By the way they also have some sausages which are wrapped in pastry and similar items. Not cheap (like grocery store donuts) but worth the price. Free parking at the door but limited inside seating. I appreciate that they wore masks and encouraged patrons to social distance. read more

I am normally a Rays Donuts fan but wanted to try this new location for donuts b/c it's closer to home. While their donut selection features a colorful array of character themed, frosting heavy creations, I didn't feel like the donuts were necessarily special. I did try the cronut style donut with chocolate glaze and powdered sugar which what probably what I liked the most. The cronut donut had a chewier texture than a yeast donut and was not a super sweet mess to eat. read more

The lemon and jelly donuts might be the best I've ever eaten. I've eaten dozens and dozens of different brands of donuts across the United States. These are in the top 10. The people who work here are really nice. Personally I'm not as huge a fan of the donuts but my kids love their specialty decorated donuts (some are almost $2 a pop though) so we come here for those! They've had shopkins decorated ones, Spider-Man, ninja turtles, rainbow ones made with gummy sour strips, Oreo cookie topped ones- and they eat them in their entirety so I imagine they like the taste! Not too keen on doughnuts but this place is pretty good. I love the creativity that they have. I was looking for a doughnut cake for my son's birthday and Joys came through. It was 11:30 and this tiny shop had 15 people waiting to be served. When it was my turn, nothing was left. Maybe they should have made more donuts you could fill along with chocolate covered, and glazed. Makes more sense to increase the more popular ones at the last minute. But as always this shop will continue to do business with no change in schedule or what sells the best. This place needs a larger location with more parking than hooked to a convienence store just like the rest of the local donut shops. Things could be better, but life goes on . We moved to the area relatively recently and have been on a mission to find the best donuts. These are definitely very good donuts, especially compared to Dunkin or Krispy Kreme, both of which are good in their own right but not great. We got an assortment of donuts. I typically judge all donut shops by 3 donuts, Apple Fritter (4 stars), Old Fashioned (4 stars) and Buttermilk Bar (didn't have). -The apple fritter had GREAT texture, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My only issue is it didn't have a ton of either apple or cinnamon but I enjoyed it. -The old fashioned was good but not great. It was far superior to another one I had in the area but falls short of the all time best I had in Chicago. -We had an assortment of others including some filled long johns. They have a variety of fillings and will fill them on the spot at request. I had the vanilla white cream which was very good. We call it Angel Cream in the midwest. The cream was inserted in both ends of the long john so there was a decent amount of cream but not a ton. The long john was also light and tasty. -We showed up about 11 AM on a Friday and there was still an assortment of choices which surprised us. We will definitely return! read more

I normally come here when I have classes in the mornings. This particular morning I went in and there was a white guy standing in front of me. Then a white lady walked in behind me. As I was standing there this guy who is Asian descent, came out and looked at me ( a black woman) then proceeded to ask the white lady that entered the store after me what would she like to order. I was really confused and irritated so I started to walk out. The white woman (who he asked about her order) noticed as well what just happened and was apologizing saying that I was first even though it was not her fault at. Clueless newbies. Takes forever to serve each customer. Donuts are on the small side. Amount of filling in the filled donuts is about a teaspoon. I now drive the extra mile to Ray's. The last straw was when they held my child up for an extra 3 minutes while they got every employee available to examine a $20 bill. They said the bill looked different, and they were worried it was counterfit. If they knew their customers, the same kid had been in there spending money just the day before, sand 6 times since they opened a few weeks ago. CLUELESS.
