When people compare donuts, it's usually a "Dunkin vs Krispy Kreme" type of battle of which is better. But then there is Doughnut World, this small little hole in the wall going into downtown Winder that we had passed the strip mall it's tucked in several times but didn't pay it any mind because we weren't looking for breakfast or donuts so didn't think much of it. But yesterday we were so we popped in here to check it out. They have a great variety of all the ones you expect (glazed, Boston cream, etc) plus some features like Fresh Strawberries & Cream and Dubai Chocolate Cronuts which are double stacked donuts with filling in the middle, like donut sandwiches. I cannot speak highly enough of the pillowy perfection of the donuts themselves. They have just enough sweetness but not overbearing and they aren't dense like Dunkin or air like Krispy Kreme that just disappears in your mouth. Don't get me wrong, I like both but the donuts at Doughnut World are in a league of their own. They aren't cakey, and they aren't like puff pastry, they are fluffy with just the right balance of soft to dense. It's hard to explain. You just gotta try for yourself. If I had to choose the perfect donut, this is it. We bought a half dozen to try: glazed (of course), two Boston creams, because of course (to which my cousin remarked that's the best she'd ever had), lemon, strawberry or raspberry (I just pointed and said "that one" lol) not sure but it was delicious, and a caramel with bacon? More labels in the display case would certainly help and if the owner reads this I do advise for this reason. The star of the show was the Strawberries and Cream Cronut without a doubt. It was perfection and I would go back just for this. It was the perfect balance of donut, strawberry and cream in which each flavor and texture came through into such a delicate and delicious treat! We did try a kolache that the pastry was perfect but I didn't care much for the filling, just personal preference. It was fine but just not my thing. I was there for the sweets! I'm glad I tried it but I would opt for a different savory pastry next time. We didn't order any drinks but they have a nice variety of teas and here you can get all the variety of like matcha, boba, Thai, chai, etc that are all the rage these days so I'll have to give some of those in future visits. If you haven't checked this place out you won't be disappointed. The lady working behind the counter was super sweet and helpful and even tossed in a few donut holes for us. As we were walking out the people were pouring in from the parking lot so I don't think this place is a secret, perhaps more of a little hidden gem right on the little outskirts of downtown Winder.
Updating my review to include that they now serve milk tea and expanded their breakfast menu! They also have shaved ice and a savory menu coming. Stopped by to try their milk teas as soon as we could. (Their first week serving) menu is extensive and add ins are manyyyy. They're still pretty new so it did take a little longer than usual and ordering was a little confusing. Other than that we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of their milk tea! We ordered 4 different "teas" with add ins and of course a dozen of yummy donuts!
Friendliest people who serve good donuts and now food. A quaint little shop Before has now expanded and serve other food items like French Tacos and Boba Tea. I've tried the French Tacos and it's like an all in one meal with fries inside the grilled pressed tortilla. Stop in and try a couple things out and support this small business. You'll find something to like and enjoy.
The cinnamon roll donut tasted like funnel cake. It was INCREDIBLE. We got a 1/2 dozen various donuts and 2 breakfast buns. Everything was so tasty, we will definitely be back.
New review coming in... my first time at this shop was when it was on the other side of the road. I got here early around 7:30am Saturday morning and they have every flavor available thankfully! I only got a half dozen, but I got a different flavor for each option. The red velvet is my go to, but the maple glaze is also delicious, and the strawberry with coconut flakes is so yummy! I just love coconut in general. Staff was very quick and friendly. I would love for them to upgrade the decor inside make it more appealing to the eye! But just my opinion. I will definitely be back for more donuts!
Doughnut World does it up right, especially when you're needing 72 dozen donuts for a large event! They had the donuts ready on time, perfectly prepared and helped load them in to my vehicle. Amazing doughnuts and pastries. The owner even gave us an extra doughnut. Such a great hole in the wall place. Will definitely be coming back!
The wifey and I have been on a donutes binge lately, and we've found that small towns have some real gems. I was around Fort Yargo and stopped by early on a weekend to pick up a few fresh donutes. They do brisk business when I arrived Saturday morning, and they sell a dozen for $10. The wifey likes boston cream, and their version didn't have chocolate glazing. Since it's pumpkins weather, we got a couple, but those were quite offensive. You can't taste any pumpkin flavor, only spices, an overbearing taste of cinnamon, cardamom, and nothing else. Not good. The other problem we found was we got a couple of cake donuts, a chocolate and plain one, and they were very dry. I hope we didn't get old ones... The rest, apple fritter, glazed plain, red velvet cake, were good. Unfortunately the bad donutes were the ones that lingered in our impression.
Super happy with the selection, taste and look of the donuts we got for my daughters birthday party. The price is comparable to Dunkin' plus the donuts are unique and they are super soft and tasty.
Excellent selection of donuts, and the place is very clean. Staff is nice. I haven't had a donut from there I don't like. I'm particularly fond of their blueberry donut, and I rarely like red velvet but I steal my husband's red velvet donut every time because it's so good. Prices are decent too. I would say go as early as you can, because if you go later, there's not as big of a selection. But you'll probably still find something you like!

I made the comment my kids were going to be so upset. She asked how many more I needed and walked in the back and made some more. You cannot beat that type of customer service. Great food and customer service is hard to find. If you are in Winder stop by and try them out!

I I've been there several times and their doughnuts are sooooooo good and tender. I love every variety they have, and their apple fritters are crispy on the outside and I love the apple in it. Definitely go, highly recommend this place. Whenever I visit my family I always pick them up. read more

Winder runs short on bakery's and breakfast places other than fast food and publix so I was thrilled to discover "Donut World"! The selection was very good and very fresh even though I went in close to closing time. They make their product fresh every morning. They even have savory selections. The value was great as I got 6 donuts for less than $6 compared to the small danish and coffee I purchased at a newly opened bakery/cafe in downtown Winder for $9 and theirs is not made in house. I would definitely drive the extra mile down the road for value and freshness. Granted it was not a fancy Art Deco interior but it was clean and friendly. I will be going back! read more

They make some of the best best yeast donuts you'll ever eat. They absolutely melt in your mouth. The customer service is always top notch which only makes the food more amazing. read more
