Dining is spotless and while dining in you're most likely to see someone picking up trash and wiping tables. We used to drive to Athens for our Freddy's fix but now all we have to do is drive across the highway. Win for us! Food comes out steaming hot! Fries hot and crispy. Not really a fan of shoestring fries but these hit the spot every time!

The taco burger was fine but no cheese. The chili cheese dog was a bust as there was very little chili and I asked for onions but had to go back to have them added. Which got me a look like what do you mean interrupting my day! On the funny side their microphone at the order pickup station was not working and I watched the same employee grab the microphone enthusiastically and announce order after order number that only he could hear. I guess he had his ear buds turned up drowning out what was happening. It was funny because he could not figure out why people were not coming to pick up their orders. At least there was entertainment! Try a different location this one has issues.

But then there is Doughnut World, this small little hole in the wall going into downtown Winder that we had passed the strip mall it's tucked in several times but didn't pay it any mind because we weren't looking for breakfast or donuts so didn't think much of it. But yesterday we were so we popped in here to check it out. They have a great variety of all the ones you expect (glazed, Boston cream, etc) plus some features like Fresh Strawberries & Cream and Dubai Chocolate Cronuts which are double stacked donuts with filling in the middle, like donut sandwiches. I cannot speak highly enough of the pillowy perfection of the donuts themselves. They have just enough sweetness but not overbearing and they aren't dense like Dunkin or air like Krispy Kreme that just disappears in your mouth. Don't get me wrong, I like both but the donuts at Doughnut World are in a league of their own. They aren't cakey, and they aren't like puff pastry, they are fluffy with just the right balance of soft to dense. It's hard to explain. You just gotta try for yourself. If I had to choose the perfect donut, this is it. We bought a half dozen to try: glazed (of course), two Boston creams, because of course (to which my cousin remarked that's the best she'd ever had), lemon, strawberry or raspberry (I just pointed and said "that one" lol) not sure but it was delicious, and a caramel with bacon? More labels in the display case would certainly help and if the owner reads this I do advise for this reason. The star of the show was the Strawberries and Cream Cronut without a doubt. It was perfection and I would go back just for this. It was the perfect balance of donut, strawberry and cream in which each flavor and texture came through into such a delicate and delicious treat! We did try a kolache that the pastry was perfect but I didn't care much for the filling, just personal preference. It was fine but just not my thing. I was there for the sweets! I'm glad I tried it but I would opt for a different savory pastry next time. We didn't order any drinks but they have a nice variety of teas and here you can get all the variety of like matcha, boba, Thai, chai, etc that are all the rage these days so I'll have to give some of those in future visits. If you haven't checked this place out you won't be disappointed. The lady working behind the counter was super sweet and helpful and even tossed in a few donut holes for us. As we were walking out the people were pouring in from the parking lot so I don't think this place is a secret, perhaps more of a little hidden gem right on the little outskirts of downtown Winder.

So I decided that something with Tequila was going to be imbibed. Recently my oldest son (yes he is of drinking age), who works in the spirit industry introduced me to the Paloma. I prefer mine with a reposado and that is how Las Margaritias makes theirs. As usual I was promptly served and always with a smile. The owner came by and said hello, even though the place was crowded. In case you are wandering, a medium sized Paloma, consumed with only a modicum of food, was enough to drag me out of the blues. I still thoroughly enjoy this place and the vibe it contains.

It was limp and soggy. The tacos were mostly lettuce with very little meat. I ordered chicken nachos with no peppers. They put the peppers in anyway. The side of beans was 14 beans ( My nephew counted them) floating in water. The cheese dip looked and tasted like milk. There were only a few peppers in it. I ordered 2 large and 1 small cheese dips. They included 1 small bag of chips. I had to pay for 2 additional bags of chips.

A subdued crowd, so it wasn't loud at all. Staff was attentive. Even got a visit from the manager at the end of the meal. A good spin on oysters rockefeller with this redneck version. Hushpuppies were crispy outside and soft on the inside, just like you want them. The ribeye was a underwhelming for the price. I also expected more spice from the BBQ shrimp. When something says jerk, I expected some more spice. The key lime pie lacked lunch as well, but I like some pucker in that dessert. Volcano cookie was pretty solid. Definitely will be back to try some other things.

I got a four piece cod and this is the best fish I've had when I'm looking for a true British fish and chips. The potato chips were a little overcooked, but still great, french fries I brought home and just air fry them and brought them back to life so they were very good as well. I think the only odd thing not bad, but odd was the fried green tomatoes, which were almost like a pancake batter, which gave it a very sweet taste, which I was not expecting. I think I'm more of a savory fried green tomato, crunchy guy, but these had pickled onions, seemed to be cooked with love just didn't eat my taste buds but while presented. Ordered the crabcake sandwich in the jury is still out. Perhaps I was having fried food overload, but it didn't hit as well until I pulled it off. The patty added a little bit of old bay seasoning and this crab cake was quite tasty. How you adjust your meals is all up to you, but since I usually get things to go and bring them home, if there's something I want more I just add it no complaints because I thought this was a good value and great service. All in all, this was a very good place, oysters are priced insanely these days cause coming from South Georgia where I used to hit the beach for $.10 apiece for oysters. It's really hard to dive in the raw oysters which I love but not for two dollars apiece. I'm sure they're good but I'm gonna skip out and stick with sushi for my raw fish right now, and use this place for my fish and chips for sure! Clean, great service, outdoor seating, highly recommend.!!!!
