I'm a huge fam of Ichebon, but living out in Cypress have missed it. My wife and I recently dined here, going for the hibachi service. I always get the same thing - filet beef and chicken, with fried rice, veggies, etc. I don't mind paying a price for top-quality food, but I must say my low rating is mostly based on the food. The chef was just not that skilled at cooking the portions at the right rate, and with the right seasonings. We weren't really there for the show, which he realized, and he let us enjoy our conversation with the other father/son duo at the table. The fried rice was just ok, nothing special, the beef was frankly quite good, the vegetables were not that great, and came late in the lineup and had a very high broccoli content - not the right mixture. I honestly don't know how he cooked the chicken so poorly - it was way over done, virtually crispy, and drenched in "butter". The appetizers that you are required to get - a salad served in a row-boat (bad idea, looked dumb, plastic boat looked old, and the salad wasn't that good) an "onion soup" that is embarrassing to serve (barely any taste to the "broth" a shriveled mushroom, and 5 tiny sticks of fried onions out of a can in the bottom of the bowl), and then two shrimp per person that were once again severely over-cooked on the grill. I had two cocktails, my wife had tea, our bill was over $100.00. My stomach was sick for the next 5 hours after getting home. I really hoped this would be the score for us - but I'm not sure I'm going back. Revisit the recipes, maybe even go try Ichebons and taste how you differ, train your chefs how to cook properly. There is the "show", and then there is demonstrating fine cooking skills. The food has to be delicious and cooked perfectly for customers to pay those prices. read more

Clean and modern decor. The service was great and friendly. My husband had the sushi which he said was fresh and tasty. I had hibachi chicken which was also good. The spicy garlic edamame and the Henry special scallops were delish! Happy hour items and drinks until 6:30pm isn't bad either! Definitely coming back. read more

So refreshing to find a good Japanese steakhouse in Cypress! Food was great, greeted and served by the sweetest old lady. Never had to ask for refills and food came out in a timely manner. Everyone was wearing masks and the restaurant was modern, clean, and played great music . 10/10 will be back read more

Great Food, great service. Prices definitely match the quality. My favorite sushi place so far!!

It's a bit pricey but food is good. My toddler loves their fried rice. The Shaggy Dog roll is really good and filling. Husband loves the Tex Mex. I want to try the katsu but not willing to spend $15-20 for a plate. read more

Very entertaining chefs that always make my kids laugh. Food is consistently good. Only downsides are: 1) sometimes the wait for a hibachi table to be big enough for them to start cooking is long...and I have a family of 6, but they seem to want 8+ before they start cooking; 2) holidays like Mother's or Father's day is an excuse for them to drop the lunch menu and do a "dinner menu only" all day...that is frustrating. read more

My husband and I eat at this location at least once a week. Always great service by Christian and the other staff. We really enjoy the food. Favorites have to be spicy garlic edamame, Yuzu yellow tail appetizer, the wagyu appetizer (not the hot stone one) and jumbo hot sake. The fried rice is also on point every time we go. Grateful to have this place right next to work and open till 10 pm on week nights. read more

Good value and our hibachi chef was very entertaining for the entire family, not to mention an excellent chef as well as showman.

Hands down my favorite weeknight and weekend spot- always amazing service from my favorite servers- and they always remember a face. I work on my computer here during happy hour and come to friend dinners here. Beef Sashimi is AMAZING- and they always make me feel catered to! Tin has almost ALWAYS waited on me and he's great! read more

Came here for lunch on a Monday. This place is nice and new and our server was quite attentive and friendly as we took our time figuring out what we wanted to order. The lunch specials are on the last page of the menu and contains hibachi options as well. We ordered the steak hibachi and one of the bento boxes, and the lychee and mango iced teas. The teas were too sweet, probably because they used syrup to flavor their drinks. The hibachi plate was good, but nothing too impressive in taste. The broccoli was half cooked and hard to bite down on. The steak was a little chewy and the serving portion not generous. For cypress standards, this place isn't too bad but nothing I'm excited to come back and try. read more

My overall experience at this place was great. Upon entering, the ambiance in this place is very nice. The wait time for food is short as well. We ordered hibachi chicken as well as some of their cooked rolls (pregnant girlfriend). The dishes are very well prepared and delicious. The crazy roll was hands down my favorite. They also have a "secret" dessert menu which consist of your choice of sauteed or fried bananas surrounded by vanilla ice cream and whipped cream with drizzled chocolate sauce. I highly recommend this place! read more

Service needs tremendous help. Our waiter brought the food out in the wrong order. Drinks and appetizers take forever. Considering the $200 I just paid, I'd rather give McDonalds the money for their fattening food instead. Help is severely needed here. read more

Starting coming to Sapporo when it first opened sat on the patio and loved it. Went in this afternoon excited to sit outside and when we asked the manager he was very irritated with us and just said "fine". As we proceeded to sit on the patio and order drinks we were asked to give a Credit Card to be able to sit outside. The manager also came out asking us to move tables because it was "windy" so we could sit closer to the window. Never will I give Sapporo my business again. I felt extremely disrespected. If I could give no stars I would. read more

Has great potential but always just fails to deliver. Sushi rice is generally not fresh or at the correct temperature. Manager is tough on staff, if they make a mistake they pay! Our last visit we were delivered the wrong dish, the waitress let us know she was in trouble and would have to pay for the mistake. I offered to pay the difference which the manager accepted and put on my bill. I was pleased for the waitress but this is not customer focus. Just needs a touch of customer focus, fresh rice and will become a 5 star read more

Came in for the first time with guys for lunch. Manager was not the best as far as customer service. Waitress was awesome but order came different from what was expected. Talked with manager and he was not willing to fix it. Kinda bummer. Won't be coming here again. read more

I have not had a chance to eat at this restaurant yet but I am on the PTO at a local school and needed some help with a project. I went into this restaurant asking for help and I was blown away with their amazing customer service! All the employees were super friendly and took the time to help me. The atmosphere of the restaurant is beautiful, clean, and relaxing. Just what we need in our neighborhood. I can't wait to try out their food and hopefully its as great as the service. Thank you Sapporo for supporting our local school! read more

Great atmosphere!! Very bright and modern decor. Tried a couple different sushi rolls and we loved them all. We also got the vegetable fried rice and chicken fried rice, both of them were full of flavor and very good. Great service as well. read more

First visit...and last. There are better hibachi places in the area. Food was bland. Soup colorless with a few straggling onions. No onions in rice and only two eggs for 7 servings. Filet was very tender and scallops flavorful. The only "animation" was the waiter tossing rice and trying to catch in your mouth. No volcanoes, spinning egg, train, fancy knife work. Disappointing since we guests who had never experienced hibachi before. Sauces for dinner were provided after all the food was cooked and were bitter and unappetizing. Shortcut on the rice...just dumped on plate and not in a bowl. I like to flip the rice bowl over to keep hot until veggies and protein are cooked. The lights are bright, tables are small. Cluttery and not very clean. Will go elsewhere next time. read more

I'm writing a followup to my previous review. I didn't have any more drinks here so I can't comment on those, but I've been back twice since my first visit. I even took my in-laws. I don't take my in-laws to a restaurant unless I'm confident of 5 star service. This place is always delicious. I think I've had about 10-12 different types of sushi and literally the "boat of sashimi". All of it was delicious! read more

We ate here on 9/29/17. So glad to have a reasonable restaurant in the Cypress neighborhood. The ambience is good; service is great. We had sushi & hot entrees, all good to the last bite. BTW, the gin cocktails are good as well. Did I mention that the prices are very reasonable? We will be back here frequently. read more

Great addition to the neighborhood. Food is excellent and the prices are fair. Stopped in for dinner and was curios if they would have things together seeing as they just opened. Pleasantly surprised that they did. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. They were out of the cocktail mix of my choice but provided a premium alternative at no additional cost. We typically have to drive across town for good sushi but not anymore. I read one review that the sushi is not fresh, not true. It was extremely fresh and clean. read more

mediocre food. ramen could've been better and to be fair you could get betted sushi at a buffet.. the service was horrible. an asian girl around 5'4 ish was just on her phone the whole time and gave me an attitude. another fact about this restaurant is the fact you don't get a public toilet ! how unfair to the costumers who would like to wash their hands before a 'nice' dinner. talk about professional-- nothing about this store was 'professional' i suggest firing the 5'4 asian girl. she obviously doesn't have manners and shouldn't be in this type of business setting . definitely not coming back. read more

I ordered a medium rare ribeye steak, and what did I get. Tough cut up beef tips over cooked and raw vegetables. I thought I got someone else's order, and when I said, "I ordered a ribeye steak", the waiter said, "That IS ribeye steak." Really? Who expects that? I will NEVER eat there again. Also it was so dark in there we needed to use our flashlights. Our bill for this horrible meal for 2 was SIXTY-EIGHT dollars. This was the worst dining experience I have ever had, and I have eaten in a lot of restaurants. read more

Waited too long for the chef who finished cooking from another table. They really short servers. Coke had no air. The soup had only water and 3 pieces of thin mushroom. read more

My son LOVES the sushi here. Great service and really good salad dressing and bento boxes. Appetizers are great too. read more

Food is pretty good and big portion too but a little expensive compare to other places.

My family tried this out this weekend and found the sushi very fresh and everything we ordered we enjoyed. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was comfortable! The menu has a few typos and we asked several questions, but the staff was helpful and kind. read more

This place was awful. I mean, I wish I could give it negative stars. My boyfriend and I went to eat here for a dinner date, we got a sushi combo and a tuna roll. The white fish had black spots all over it and all the fish was hard with a gross, bitter taste, like hand sanitizer. It was all also very warm, like it had been sitting out for a while. The portions were miniature. I can barely eat a sandwich alone, but I could eat 3 of these rolls with no problem. The service was okay, and the atmosphere was lovely, but that's about all the good here. read more

save yourself and do not eat here the man in the front is rude he even tried to steal food that i paid for i politely explained to him that i was not satisfied with the food and he tells me he wont remake it if your are not asian dont even bother to walk into this restaurant they will treat you like shit especially african americans do not eat here!!!!!!!!!!!! racism at its finest read more

Tried Sapporo for the first time on Saturday. Awesome sushi! Everything was so yummy and fresh. I especially enjoyed the tuna tar tar. Our waitress was Mazy (not sure on the spelling) she was great!! Totally recommend this restaurant if you are looking for great tasing sushi and service. read more

We have been here several times but won't go back. Last time it was not even at half capacity and we had to wait several minutes for an angry looking man to seat us. We then waited over 15 minutes for someone to take our drink orders. At that point we decided to leave. read more

After a couple of attempts, we have decided this is not our go-to sushi place but hibachi and udon are good! We ended up with at least two rolls that had cooked (read: possibly canned?) tuna which was an unpleasant surprise. Will probably order again because it's close to our house, but not for sushi. read more

Over priced and gives little portions and food wasn't as seasoned rather spend the same money and eat better go to shogun

I really, really wanted to like this place bc it's so convenient however the food was just terrible. Starting from the beginning the soup was cold and tasteless, the salad was okay and that was probably the best thing we had. Also ordered a NY roll that we didn't even finish, the fried rice wasn't even good (how do you mess up fried rice?). The hibachi dinner menu says you get a shrimp appetizer which we never received, and the meat and veggies were anything but special. Afterwards I asked the other people at the table if their soup had been cold as well. One group said yes, the other group said they just ordered salads bc they had been there before and it was cold then also. Only reason I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 is bc the service was decent. read more

We have been to this location several times, mostly for the hibachi. Tonight's experience will make me question going back. There were three of us, one ordered shrimp yaki udon, one got steak fried rice, and I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box. Steak fried rice came out, ten minutes later the udon came out, then over 5 minutes later my bento box arrived. My bento box was ice cold except for the steamed rice which was warm on the inside. Our waiter never came back to ask us how things were or if there was anything else needed. We asked the hostess for our bill after explaining the issue, never was asked if we wanted the bento box remade. read more

Food was good but service was absolutely terrible!! We had a bigger group which is understandable but you'd think they'd try and get people out because it's hectic right? We had people waiting for close to an hour for OUR MONEY BACK! My friend payed with cash for a $14 bill with $20 and never got cash back. So when he confronted them they never gave him the cash back for a tip and said they couldn't give it to him because it's a big group so they just took it read more

I was so glad to see the sign. Our kids love sushi so I thought it's nice to have a decent sushi joint close by. We tried the place last night with so much hope. It was bad! For the price the food was mediocre at best. This is no way authentic Japanese cuisine. Even the menu, although nice-looking, is full of typo mistakes. One can tell that the lack of attention to details won't lead to gourmet food here. The miso soup was watery yet expensive. The chicken don was so bland I couldn't even finish half of the bowl. My son who loves ramen didn't want to order the tonkatsu ramen because its picture in the menu showed that the egg was over cooked! Bad experience. If any wants authentic Japanese cuisine go to Taiko on FM 1960. read more
