This might be the prettiest hibachi spot I've been to so far. And listen... they make you enter through the lake-facing door (not sure if it's intentional), but as a water lover, instant calm mode activated. Walking in felt like a whole vibe. Inside? The edamame was a little vinegary but the spice was perfect. The gyoza were cooked perfectly with a nice amount of filling. Hubby liked the sushi. "I BID YOU FAREWELL" CELEBRATION My family and I visited this establishment about three weeks ago at the request of my youngest son in honor of his enlistment into the United States Navy, so this was his farewell dinner. Although he had never previously experienced what this establishment has to offer, he chose this place because he loves Japanese Hibachi and sushi. As a matter of fact, none of us had ever visited this establishment before. If you know me well, then you would know that I am very particular about trying out a restaurant for the first time. Soooo, here goes!!! I called the restaurant earlier in the day around noon and requested a reservation for a party of eight for 4 pm and was surprisingly accommodated by the hostess over the phone. Making a reservation was sweet and simple, no hassles. Upon arrival, the staff were waiting and ready for us. They were very friendly and welcoming. I can't remember what everyone ordered but I will try my best. For my drink, I ordered a Mai Tai which tasted very delicious, but lacked the liquor. So, I ordered an old fashioned. Now, old fashions are usually pretty strong, if prepared correctly, but this one was weak. The flavor was good but like the other drink, it lacked the liquor. So, if you're wondering why I gave four stars out of five, it was the lack of liquor in the supposedly alcohol drinks. Alcohol drinks cost too much money to be stiffing the customers. I didn't feel anything after downing two different alcohol beverages which is strange. My daughter ordered an Apple Martini which she said was very tasty but also that she did not taste any liquor. So sad. I did not complain to the manager or my waiter. I just went with the flow. We ended up ordering some hot Sake and then and only then is when we finally felt a buzz, lol. The Sake was very delicious and warm. I guess they can't fool anyone by pretending that they've given you warm sake, lol. So, I would suggest not to order alcohol beverages or to order at your own risk. Now for the good part, the food! We had such a friendly chef by the name of Juan. He was engaging and made our experience exciting by inviting each of us to play along in a game of catch-the-food-in-your-mouth. This was really fun and made everyone laugh as some of us were terrible at catching the food with our mouth, lol. Everyone ordered fried rice with their meal, except for my son, he ordered steamed white rice since he now has to watch his salt in-take in order to have good blood pressure because the Navy requires you to be a bill of health. The different proteins that were ordered across the table were scallops, shrimp, chicken, steak, lobster, and filet mignon. Everything was absolutely delicious, especially the scallops that I ordered. They were cooked to perfection. My husband enjoyed his filet mignon immensely and said that it was nice and tender and flavorful. Overall, this establishment has great cuisine and great customer service. The alcohol beverages are delicious in flavor but lacks the presence of the alcohol. The ambiance is relaxing and chill. I rated them four stars and I highly recommend them to anyone who loves Hibachi. My family and I had a lovely time celebrating one of the biggest moments in my youngest child's life. I go at least once a week for takeout. We get a large chicken fried rice (which feeds me and my 2 kids ) a chicken crunch sushi roll (so so good) and a chicken yakisoba (Japanese noodles) which comes with a soup and salad. It adds up quickly but it's so good. I never have a bad thing to say about the food. As far as dining in it gets busy so sometimes there is a long wait to get the hibachi experience so we dine in for special occasion only. I ate here on Sunday evening and got food poisoning. I know it was this place because my mom also got food poisoning from eating the same exact thing I did while we were there. The chef ended up giving each of us two shrimps. My mom had a bite of her shrimp and said it wasn't good, but I ate both of mine. I personally like Taisho, and if I could give it 3 and a half stars I would. But while it is nice and they have some tasty items, but I think there are better sushi and hibachi places around at the same price or better. Located in Towne Lake's Boardwalk, there is always ample parking. The wait will depend on where you want to sit, as Hibachi usually has a long wait. If you just sit at a table (where you can even order Hibachi food), you likely won't have to wait long, if at all. The interior is nice, but you can go casually dressed. The service is usually very quick. I've been a couple of times, and have tried different sushi rolls. My personal two favorites are the shaggy dog and the dragon roll, which I like, but are not the best rolls I've ever had. Most of the sushi is good, but you can probably get better rolls at other places for cheaper. The hibachi is good, but I'd recommend staying away from the steak. They have a tendency to overcook it and even though they ask for your preference it will probably come out medium-well or well done. The chicken, shrimp, and scallops are all fantastic, so mix and match those with the combo and you'll have a good meal. The soup it comes with is tasty, but I'm not a fan of the salad. At $20-$30, the price is also a little steep for what you get, but its not too egregious. Overall, an ok place to come for Hibachi or sushi, but you can probably find better and cheaper places for either. This place is a bit nicer though, so it can be a good place for an occasion. If you get Hibachi though, stay away from the steak and you'll have a good time. read more
