Gets my vote as the worst Mexican food in Denver. Outside the building you are always choked with the smell of over boiled chicken. The green chili is watery and the horchata is dispensed from a machine. Your order can end up completely wrong and the service is slow. I have a hard time believing that people like this place so much, clearly good Mexican food consists of breakfast burritos. read more

I just moved back to Denver from Scottsdale Arizona. Having lived in California, Arizona, and the East Coast I have had my share of breakfast burritos. This morning I had my first breakfast burrito. I must say it was absolutely one of the best burritos I've ever had in my life. Now that I am back in Denver I will be going to Santiago's often. read more

This Santiago's location is really no different than the other locations. Same great green chile and Mexican food. This location is big enough you can kick back and relax if you want and dine in without only having to do take out. Despite that this location does not accept debit or credit cards, only cash. Awwww. Just when I was starting to get used to going to Santiago's and not having to worry about carrying cash. Also while there are tables here to sit at quite a few of them looked like they were not cleaned after the last person was eating there. read more

I repeated my order from my previous review. The beef and bean burrito with chicharron was delicious as expected. My carnitas burrito was disappointing. The pork was overly greasy with several inedible mouthfulls of fat that had to be spit out. How complicated is it to make a one ingredient burrito plus chili? I'll still go back, since this location is close to work, but I'll be moving on to other menu selections. read more

The best place in town for a cheap, delicious, and quick breakfast burrito. Santiago's is a simple, cash-only establishment that has mastered the art of the breakfast burrito. At $2 a piece, the burritos are not large, but still a very good deal. The green chile is fantastic, full of flavor, and ranges from mild to very spicy. I recommend the "half and half" to someone that appreciates heat, but doesn't want to be overwhelmed. The "hot" will make your lips burn. Anytime before 11am, you can usually have your food within 5 minutes of ordering. I've been to Chubby's (my second favorite), The Burrito Company, Little Anitas, El Nopalito, El Taco de Mexico, Tacos Rapidos, and Moe's for breakfast burritos. Santiagos consistently outshines all of these establishments. No other place in Denver can match Santiago's combination of price, speed of service, and flavor. read more

It's Santiago's; it's great and doesn't change. You can count on the same quality all the time.

This place is usually very busy, and is more of a stand than a restaurant. It does have tables, but it is small and has real basic decor- almost ugly. During breakfast and lunch you can see a crowd of blue collar workers in line for their burritos. The $2 breakfast burrito is very good. The are fast and friendly. read more

Dropped in for 2 breakfast burritos, menu says "chefs choice for meat" today I got ham. Only eggs, cheese, chili, potatoes and very minimal ham. They chop it so small it might be called mince. Service is fast and the food is cheap but tasty. read more

Delicious and cheap! I like my food spicy but decided to try my burrito smothered in half and half the first time I came and it wasn't quite hot enough for me. So, the next time I went I ordered the hot. Not sure if it was the right decision or not, my face ended up melting off through my entire burrito. Was it worth it, heck yea it was! Just be sure to have an orange in hand to kill the burn when you finish. The only bummer is this place only takes cash! read more

$2 Breakfast Burritos. Need a say more? New Mexico Green Chile? Perfect! Everyday of the week Santiago's changes the meat that they put in the $2 burritos, so get used to your routine. You can also get a meatless burrito any day of the week. As far as the chile? Its delicious! You can pick between mild or hot, or a mix of both. If you dont do well with spicy food, then get the mild, as the hot can have a kick. read more

Amazing taste, about 2 buck for each of the breakfast burritos if you have not tired them before get the mild or the half/half because the hot is HOT! They also recently started to take credit cards... not the best place to sit down, so just grab and go! read more

Greasy. Overpriced. Can't get my order right.

Santiagos is a good place to stop in before a hike, to grab a breakfast burrito before hitting 6th to go west. I had a great cheap and fast meal, an alternative to fast food. I will definitely go back for more when in the area. Not amazing, but will try again. DT read more

If you're a horrible person (Left-handed people, T-swift fans, people who bathe in Vanilla Fields before walking out the door), have no teeth, and love green chile and egg stew wrapped in a tortilla,... this place has the perfect soggy and squishy "breakfast burrito" for you. Not talking about a smothered burrito. That's different. I mean a hand-held burrito to-go. Just wrapped in tortilla, then foil or paper. If you have teeth or are from New Mexico, or watched Twin Peaks before it was on HBO (and I don't mean after HBO announced it, so that you could be prepared to jump on another bandwagon), or you kick ass at life in general, you might want to look elsewhere for a breakfast burrito. 5 stars because the rest of the food is good and the people that work there are cool and friendly (definitely not T-swift fans). I just don't understand why you Denver people enjoy drinking your breakfast burritos!! What's wrong with you!? read more

I recently the discovered the magic that is Santiagos and I can't get enough! For starters they are very affordable, which is always a plus. I love their smothered burritos, I typically order the "half and half" while which is their version of medium as the hot is just way too hot for me. When I'm really hungry I order the small combo which comes with a smothered burrito, a taco, tostada and cheese enchilada. Typically my eyes are larger than my stomach and I have plenty of leftovers. The food is alway very fresh and although their burritos are very smothered they are never soggy! read more

Breakfast burritos are so good and reasonably priced. Get that order in by 10:45 am though. They don't serve breakfast after 10:45.

I gave this two stars because the only things I like about this place are the inexpensive $2 breakfast burritos, green chili and well priced guacamole. I always order the BB without cheese, hot and the green chili is inconsistent. The last BB I ordered was hot but it didn't have ANY spice to it at all. Therefore, I order x-hot most of the time because I would rather have too spicy than not enough. The burritos are small but fill you up for breakfast and it is convenient to my job. I have tried enchiladas and stuffed sopapillas and I didn't think they were anything good. Nothing I would order again. They do not accept CC's so bring cash. If you don't have cash there is an ATM you can use. read more

If you want HOT GREEN CHILI... this is the place. I've been to other Santiago's, but this one is the best. Your mouth will be on fire and you might cry a little, but oh my gosh does the flavor hit you. Very fast and professional staff, but not a feeling of being rushed. Stuffed sopapillas are delightful and the closest to "New Mexican" cuisine you'll find out of state...Amazing!!! read more

Fast service, easy access from 6th Ave or Santa Fe and plenty of parking. Decent, but not great breakfast burritos. In the interest of speed, they only offer one type of burrito each day. Today (Friday) is "pork sausage" day. Pork, eggs, cheese and green chile all wrapped up in a burrito. I should love them. I don't. The pork sausage tasted like the pigs had been forced to listen to Yanni records while watching the Lifetime network their whole life -- it was sad & bland. Santiago's touts that they have "the hottest green chile in town." It's hot, but it provides more heat than flavor. I would have loved Santiago's when I was in college. Back then all I cared about was how hot the food was. I had a mullet my freshman year. 'nuff said! Oh, and in a time when even parking meters accept credit cards, Santiago's is cash only. read more

BreakfAst burritos here are awesome. Trying lunch for the first time. I'm not disappointed. This is a must try Mexican food joint. Not fancy but delicious. read more

The last TWO times I stopped by here I ordered a smothered burrito for me and a handheld for my co-worker. My burritos were smothered in grease both times, my co-worker's handhelds were dripping grease and the tortillas were soaked. Horribly disgusting. Never coming back. TIP: Try the Englewood location, MUCH MUCH better quality there. read more

I WANT MY TWO DOLLARS!! Now I know why that kid was so obsessive about getting his $2. He was on his way to Santiago's for a breakfast burrito. Despite this place being mere blocks from my home, I've always trekked all the way to Little Anita's. Now, I do think Little Anita's is still my favorite, but it's a bit more expensive and I don't REALLY need a breakfast burrito the size of my head, do I? (well... maybe sometimes I do). $2 for a breakfast burrito with cheese. Eggs, chili (i got half and half), and cheese, wrapped into a soft tortilla. That's including tax. I might be back to try other menu items, but i kinda doubt it. My favorite burrito is the breakfast kind. read more

The most usual reason for me going to Santiago's for some grub is that i'm pressed for cash. You can eat breakfast, lunch or dinner at this place for some ridiculously cheap prices. For these prices you generally have to go down 6th a bit to Federal, so its basically a middle ground for those who enjoy mexican, but are scared to go in the heart of the beast. The food is tasty, green chili is quite delicious. You can so easily come in here and leave for lunch/dinner for under $5. If you spend $5 on your breakfast you will feel bloated until well after lunch. For $2 you get your fill on with a tasty breakfast burrito with chef's choice of meat, eggs, potatoes, green chili, and probably some other stuff as well. Really can get you going in the morning. The medium chili usually does it for me, and that can get a bit on the hot side. As stated in probably every review, cash only, but they do have some jerry rigged ATM machine that is very suspect looking and just feel sketchy to use. read more

This is a four star taco joint. Cheap, good, easy, nice little parking lot. Friendly staff,a great little seating era and a patio. No frills, no foodie, but great tacos. No nonsense. Sometimes it is exactly what you need! read more

Santiago's - In a nice day, you can sit outside! - Mexican Near Me - Denver, Colorado

Ya gotta admit - $2 does not get you much anymore... BUT it does get you an AWESOME breakfast burrito at Santiago's! They are addictive to say the least. Yeah their may be fancier, gourmetish type burritos, but you'll be hard pressed to find a better one for only two bucks!!! read more

I've been eating Santiagos for years . This location plus Federal but seems every time I order a steak deluxe burrito now a days it comes literally with 2-3 tomatoes on my burrito . I'm already being charged for tomatoes but I seem to have to pay 2.00 extra after finding my burrito didn't come as I ordered . This morning wasn't any different . I tried going at different times to see if that made a difference . Lettuce was extremely soggy this morning and a hint of brown and always ALWAYS more lettuce than tomatoes . . I get that places get busy and orders must get out but the CARE in making burritos at this location has gone down substantially! Will be switching locations from now on. read more

Best breakfast burrito... maybe in the world? Certainly for 2 dollars, it cannot be beat! Just about anything smothered in their green chile is good, but a couple of my personal favorites are their stuffed sopapia and a bean n chicarone burrito smothered. I like that their "medium" green chile is half hot/half mild... My wife orders it when she's feeling brave and often half of the breakfast burrito is mild and the other half is hot! Some might note this as a flaw, I think it is a hilarious and charming characteristic. read more

Only giving it a 4 because I'm new to town and haven't tried many burrito joints yet, though they seem to be in abundance in Denver. Nice sized breakfast burritos for the price, fast moving lines and quickly prepared orders, outdoor seating, I've been back several times already! read more

This has to be the best breakfast burrito in town. The green chili is amazing. Some may consider it hot but it grows on you. It brings me back to my days in San Antonio where every corner had an authentic mexican restaurant that had cheap breakfast burrito's. You can tell the breakfast burrito's are all pre-made when you don't order and specifics your order is ready in under a minute. Still, these are darn tasty and if anyone has a better suggestion I welcome the tastiness! Credit cards/ debit cards accepted here. Quick in/out for breakfast is worth the stop! read more

Green chile and sopapillas. Enjoyed when visiting Denver, but it's left me a little resentful - I crave it now, and there's nowhere to get it. I'm beginning to understand why my Colorado friends are so particular. read more

Love this place. Always a first choice when co-workers offer a treat. The spicy sauce is tasty and flavorful. Sometimes the line is long but they are pretty efficient. read more

Fast, courteous, delicious! Love this place and their green chile. The staff is friendly and order was done right. I will go back again and again. Thanks, staff at Sante Fe Santiago's for a wonderful experience. read more

This place is very hit and miss compared to their other locations. I've gotten the wrong order several times. Most of the time it's super fast but sometimes it's really slow, even when they're empty. Last time I was there, just ordered three ground beef tacos to go. Took 20 minutes for some reason - come to find out they ran out of ground beef!! This was at 3 in the afternoon - not exactly rush hour, not sure how you run out of ground beef. Pretty easy problem to solve. They gave me the burnt a$$ end of the ground beef they had left in one taco and chopped up a frozen hamburger patty and put that in the other two tacos. Even a gringo knows better. The worst part is that it was a manager that did it - terrible!! read more

Santiago's - Mexican Near Me - Denver, Colorado

Not impressed. I've had a few of their burritos at other locations and events, and those were always quite good. We dropped in one morning to the actual location... Not good. Bland, boring and just not worth it. But at least now I know. read more

If you're looking for a quick, tasty, inexpensive breakfast burrito then look no further! Santiago's has $2 breakfast burritos that they assemble within a minute of paying. They're on the corner so there is easy access from Santa Fe and 6th Avenue. If there's a line, don't let it stop you. I think it was about 1 minute from the time I placed my order until we had the burritos in hand. You may think how really filling is a $2 burrito? It's filled with eggs, cheese (if you want), green chili and whichever meat you choose. Be warned. It's cash only but there is an ATM. Also, they'll ask if you want it mild, medium or hot. I chose hot since by most places standards, hot isn't that hot. Here though, it's hot. Hot and delicious! read more

Extremely authentic. You might have to go back outside just to make sure you're still in Denver, not in Mexico City. Speaking a little Spanish definitely helps here- the employee who helped me seemed to be more accustomed to describing the menu in Spanish than in English, and had to resort to my very limited Spanish vocabulary in order to ask a couple of questions about the dishes. As everyone else has said, try the green chile, whatever you order. It is amazing. Not too hot, but not too mild, and goes well with anything you order. I personally was craving chile rellenos when I walked in, but the rellenos were the last thing on my mind when I walked out. More green chile! read more

anyone know the nutritional info for Santiago's breakfast burrito without meat? Fat, fiber and cals?

Gets four stars off of the breakfast burritos only. They are delicious. The half and half is the sauce you want (half hot, half mild). Some of my favorite breakfast burritos in the city. I have never been here for lunch or dinner so I can't comment on the other items they offer. read more

So disappointing. I was expecting fresh-made, light tortillas and a wonderful Mexican breakfast. I won't be back. The tortillas are heavy and thick. They were griddled so at least they were warm and not straight out of a bag. Clearly not made fresh in house. I order two potato, egg burritos and they were so salty, it was hardly edible. The salsa was super salty as well. You do get a lot for your money and it is cheap, but for the food quality. I didn't think it was worth it. The coffee was fine, nothing great. I will not be back, but I would like to comment on the pleasant, friendly service! read more
