I have always enjoyed this restaurant as the food is consistently good. I had not been in for several years and I really like the completely remodeled service counter and dining area. It used to be kind of cramped and the seating was odd. Now it's open, bright, airy, clean and well organized. They have several televisions on each wall that would be great to watch the game on. The service was fabulous but I do find the prices to be high and the neighborhood it's located leaves a lot to be desired. I would avoid the area after dark for sure. read more

They are the best tacos we've ever had. When we still lived in Denver we always went to their original location on Sheridan. We live out of state now but every time we go to Denver Taco Jr is on the top of our list no matter what!!! This time, we were in Denver last week and of course Taco Jr was on our list. This is a no frills food truck serving up Mexican eats late at night. Can't beat that with how early restaurants seem to close around Denver even on the weekends. If I could give this place a 0 I would the food is super bland looks appetizing but once you take a bite it's just disappointing. I was expecting a burst of flavors since that's usually what you get when you try Mexican Authentic food but it was bad I ordered Tacos and my husband ordered a coctel de camarón his coctel had only 6 to 8 shrimp counted and the rest was just the vegetables that it has. We also had some aguas which where piña and Jamaica ones and the same thing, bland with little to no flavor. Not to mention the restaurant is in a really sketchy area so I recommend not leaving your car unlocked unless you want someone to go through it. Time : 1410hrs Plenty of parking and seating area inside. This establishment seems empty. Is this a good sign or a bad sign? Perhaps it just the timing factor when I was there with the group. You order at the counter on the left wing of this establishment. They will call out your order. You can get your order at the right wing of this establishment. Since I am slightly stuffed from all the Tacos I had, I still opt for 2 Tacos, one, Taco Lengua ($1.65) and another Taco Tripas ($1.75). The service was prompt, efficent and fast since I got my Taco order less in 10 minutes after ordering. Yes the Tacos came out piping hot. I like the flavor but I dont like the sauce that they offer with it. Big Bummer. But I dont think I can give a fair judgement aka review coz I am already stuffed so I really really need to go back to this Taco Junior to give another chance and I hope my review might differ. I drive around for work several days a week. I am a huge fan of mom and pop taco shops. My favorite lunch on the fly is 2 a la cart tacos. I had the al pastor, to go. It came with two delicious kinds of salsa. It was also served with a couple nice slices of pineapple, and some radish slices. A 4$ lunch that makes me feel great, and is flavor country. I drove by Tacos Junior, both to and from work, for years. I kept taking note of it, but just never made it in. Until this summer. And holy crap. It's like I live there now. And, to their credit, the ever-obliging staff NEVER look sideways at me like "Oh great, here comes the Gringa again." I've sampled bunches of their Tacos, with the Brisket, Al Pastor, Pollo, Tinga, Carnitas, and Chiccharones being favorites. They have this thing, that this Gringa was previously unfamiliar with: A Sope. It's a disk of Masa, pan, fried and topped with refried beans, meat of your choice, onions, tomatoes, salsa, queso and wait for it... CACTUS. It blew my mind. The place is clean... SPARKLING clean. The first thing you smell is the Fabuloso. Then you wander toward the counter, past the in-house made desserts, and you smell the amazing Al Pastor Port roasting on their open spit, waiting for the traditional garnish of pineapple to melt in your mouth. And don't pass by those desserts... Because they have CHOCOFLAN. Yep. Chocolate Cake topped with a layer of Custardy Flan. I'm hooked. I've been told to try the Flautas. This was stop number four on the taco rapture tour. I have had tacos from here before, but it has been a couple years. This was my second favorite taco place of the day. The el pastor "burrito" was worth the extra buck and a half. It was huge, and filled with meaty, pineappley, oniony goodness. It was so juicy that it was a threat to clean shirts everywhere. Tacos Junior offers an extensive dessert selection, which is a big plus. I also tried the elote (corn on a stick with toppings) and it was just okay. It is hard to get this to taste right in the U.S. It really needs to be made with non-sweet corn, and that is hard to find. The Tacos Junior version was also a bit mayo heavy. read more

As you can see from the photo, Tacos Junior has a rather large selection of music for sale. As just like our hypothesis, it was delicious. This place is sort of arranged like a fast food joint. You walk in and order from a girl at the register. Then you seat yourself and that's when the similarities stop because you will be eating the most tender, delicious meat ever. I also love their dessert area and the fact that they have booths that can seat like 16 people. So bring all your friends. Wow. I think this Tacos Junior location has the biggest spit of al pastor in Denver. That thing is a monster. You could probably make 500 al pastor tacos from that thing...maybe more. Okay, by far this is my favorite taco joint. After two taco tours I still feel that this place is the best. We decided to be brave and give one of their burritos a try. Like everything else, it isn't about quantity, but quality. It was a little on the smaller side, but we couldn't commit entirely and had some tacos to go with. Anywho our semi-bravery was rewarded and it was really good. The beans have a nice flavor, and you can never go wrong with carnitas at this place. I also neglected to mention the desserts. The Arroz Con Leche is the best I've had at a restaurant and about $3 to boot. The multi-colored jello, is all right but it doesn't have a ton of flavor or sugar. My mom's fav is the Tres Leche Cake. It's a tad on the sweet side for me, but still good. The cake is pretty airy, the frosting even lighter, and the bottom is soaked in sweetened condensed milk. read more
