I want so badly to like Santiago's. This was our second time going. If I'm being honest, I forgot that I wasn't impressed the first time 5 years ago and now I remember why we haven't been rushing back. We ordered two large combo plates and paid the upcharge to make one of the burritos a steak burrito and the other one a chicken and rice burrito. It was $46. We ordered no beans, extra rice and that was not what we got. We ordered mild salsa and got a lot of hot salsa. The tostada is a store bought flat shell with a glop of beans with a ton of lettuce and a couple bits of tomato. Sad. They smother their burritos so we asked for one to come with the green chili on the side and they did oblige. I kinda get why so many places in Colorado smother everything in green chili. It's because whats under the green chili is mediocre quality. It was literally some steak with rice (there would have beans if I hadn't requested there not be) but no lettuce, sour cream, cheese, nothing. Its not a burrito: thats an upside down soft shell taco. I wish these places would stop calling them burritos. Burritos have all the toppings and cheese and meat inside. What is that!? The tamale was actually inedible. Not sure if those come from a factory or what, but they should not be selling the tamales. I genuinely mean this: it tasted like dog food. Those should not be on the menu. Lastly, the taco was adorable and totally looked like a Mexican version of a Taco Bell taco and I have to admit: Taco Bell's tastes better. Please understand, I'm not trying to tear this place apart. I'm Mexican. I grew up making these things at home with my grandparents and our family makes thousands of tamales once a year for my entire life and then some. I just am so saddened that the people in our community have places like this to choose from. I feel bad for them because I'm sure they work hard but the dining room was pretty messy and I probably should have walked in to order instead of ordering and going to pick up. I don't think that we would have eaten from here today if I had walked in first. They need to do better and stop using store bought taco shells for their food. That just totally put me off when I opened the container. Almost as much as the dirty plates and mess in the dining area. read more

I'll just put this out there but for a place that provides themselves on having good breakfast burritos. It really is shocking to me every time I go there that the chefs in the kitchen do not know how to wrap a breakfast burrito. Especially if you are grab and go ordering in the morning, say you are driving as well. These things are quite literally impossible to eat. There is sauce and meat spewing out of both ends. It is totally astonishing to me that they decide to not wrap the ends of the burritos to keep everything contained like literally everybody else in the universe does. They also don't correctly put them in the foil and it is just a giant mess. I was lucky enough to try opening up one while driving and sauce immediately dripped onto my pants and left stains all over my dress pants to start my Monday morning at work. Thanks Santiago's! The breakfast burrito place across the street is much better, unfortunately, they are not open until seven. I think I will finally make the choice to save my wardrobe the risk and never go back there again. read more

We like the burritos here and this time is no different. Beef and beans and chicharrones for me. There is a new sign about price adjustments on non cash transactions. I assume it means if your transaction is not above a certain dollar amount they will charge a service fee. The sign is confusing. I posted a photo of the sign. We get our order and head home to eat the burritos. My chicharrones burrito is good. His burritos are wrapped the same way as last purchase. It's not a great way to wrap them. The foil is folded into the burrito itself making it difficult to eat. We don't understand why they've started folding their burritos this way. It makes a mess unwrapping them. I need to remember to let them know not to do that. read more

First let me say I should of went with my gut! Turn away. The place look like an Old diner. Needed more than one so called waitress. Everyone looked unhappy or just miserable. Not vey clean. The food was absolutely disgusting!! So sad this place is even open. But then again some people don't know what good MEXICAN FOOD IS!! Authentic.... This stuff can never compare. When I tasted the Rellenos it was like bitting into Leatherfaces face!!! The other Rellenos were like Chinese egg rolls with a slice of a hatch chili. As for the carnitas. Ok, so I had to make a detour on my last trip to the Denver area and visit Santiago's as I used to really enjoy the Indian Taco when I lived there a very long time ago and surprisingly this restaurant location is still there which was great to see. They have several more locations in the area since I last visited and I can see why they are expanding as the Indian taco and their famous green Chile is a must have and it was as good as I remembered. Simple, flavorful and that texture of the fried shells layered with the cheese and green chile sauce is heaven I think. read more

Living in Denver for over 20 years Santiago's has been a staple for quick Mexican food. My recent visit has nothing to do with the staff. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The burrito on the other hand. I had a breakfast burrito with the meat of the day. It was worst than "Where is Waldo" finding the meat. Don't know what the meat was. Second, it had zero flavor. The look was there. It just didn't taste like anything. The green chile and chicharrón were lacking any resemblance of pork. Overall they need to overhaul the cooks or revamp the recipe. I would say they are a pass. read more

I've been to several Santiago locations throughout Denver into this one in Castle rock a couple of times and I keep hoping that it would be as good as the other locations. I don't know what the difference is, but the quality here seems to always be poor at best. The other locations are extremely good but the Castlerock one keeps let me down unfortunately it is the most convenient one for me? I keep hoping it gets better. read more

My mom and I tried this place for the first time on Jan 14, 2025, on our way back to Pueblo from Denver. The food was great and the service was even better! DANIEL definitely deserves a raise! He was very polite, helpful, informative and always on point! Thanks Daniel!! My mom had a child's plate and I had a smothered carnitas and beans burrito bowl with half and half green chili. My mom liked mine so much that she got one to go. We really enjoyed the chips and salsa as well. Light, crispy chips and delicious, spicy homemade salsa. The portions were generous and the prices were very reasonable! The restaurant was clean and playing good music. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We will be back for sure! Salsa was really good. Service was good. And most of the food was good however, I had carne asada and honestly, I should have just returned it as it was like eating beef jerky. Way, way over done. Normally I am a huge fan of Santiago's but this location didn't quite come through. Headed there for breakfast burritos but they took 15+ minutes to make (very rare), not very warm (cheese wasn't even melted) and staff was very short and cold. Unfortunate since I love Santiago's so maybe this was just an off day. read more

Many times I've been there and always ordered the smothered deluxe burrito which is usually pretty decent. Today, I made the mistake of ordering the smothered beef enchiladas. Anyway it should have been called the smothered onion enchilada with beef. I swear if I could have put all those big chunks of onion together I'd have a whole one. I do love onions but this was a serious amount of onion. This was lunchtime and I'm still tasting onion at dinner time. I noticed a sign on the door saying they need help. Where's the beef? Noticed a vast reduction in the "daily meat". I've go to this place 20 times a year. Today as always I ordered online. Ordered pickup ASAP. Email verification order will be ready for pickup at 9:47. Stood at area that has in the past been the pickup area although there isn't a sign indicating as such. After waiting until 10:05 and told a gal that I was awaiting an app order. She said you have to check in at register where there are always a bunch of people making new orders. I told her I've never done that. She was uninterested. Stood in that line behind people making their orders for ten minutes. It then took another ten to be completed. Why would I order online to stand behind ten people doing in person ordering? Never ever going there again and will gladly spread the word. Pathetic. read more

As with most locations burritos have become excessively greasy. Generally any meat is at ends of tortilla and none throughout. Definitely no longer a burrito to grab for the drive. Service is still great most mornings. In this day and age of healthier eating greasy food is not a favorable option from a health stand point. Grab plenty of napkins is best advice to soak up the excessive greasy mess. read more

I'm giving this place a four stars because it's efficient, clean and the breakfast burritos are good. The only problem is the castle rock location toned down the heat way too much on their burritos. We always get the hot and it has this little kick to it and that's it. Wish their hot would live up to hot as it does in their Aurora location. The mild is weak, and half and half is also no heat. Even my 10 year old gets the hot and eats it with no problem. read more

Santiago's burritos are hands down the best I've had in Colorado and I've lived here my whole life. Both their smothered and breakfast burritos are pure heaven. I can handle my heat, but the half and half green chili is just right for me and still leaves my stomach burning with a happy sort of pain (lol). This is by far the worst Santiago's location. They are incompetent when it comes to the app and pickup orders. Every single time they wait for you to show up before they start your order. A very famous Mexican breakfast place with multiple branches in Colorado. They get absolutely packed during breakfast hours be it weekday or weekend ! Of all the days I visited on the breakfast burrito day in Denver and saw 100's of takeaway every hour. At $5 their breakfast burrito is a good deal but on the day I went they have an offer and they were giving it for $1.25 which is a steal. I tried their burritos on multiple occasions as they are a constant at our office breakfast Monday's ! At this location parking is limited. Service is quick and they have walk in take away, drive through and sit out service. For the first time I tried their dessert sopapillas and was disappointed with the texture and amount of oil. Flavors did not work for me ! Now I understand why they are not so popular here ! But their breakfast burritos are epic ! read more

My wife and I used to go to Santiago's off of oxford and Broadway, until we moved to Colorado Springs. Now the castle rock location is the closest location to us, but still about an hour drive round trip. Every time we go in we ask for extra chili, because their breakfast burritos never have enough like the oxford and Broadway location. We pay extra for the additional chili and it's still so hit or miss. Today my wife drove an hour to get us burritos, and ordered with extra chili, and yet again, still no chili in the burritos. (Even after double checking with multiple staff members) Very disappointing, especially since we paid extra and drove just to get them. read more

I ordered some food online. The confirmation said it would be ready for pickup at a certain time. I walked in about 10 minutes early and waited for my order to be called out for pickup. After about 15 minutes I asked if they knew when it would be ready. They told me that they don't start making the food until someone tells them they arrived. Extremely upset I wasted my lunch hour waiting for food. They need to tell people online to show up and ask them to start their order. Or just force people to order in person. I think Santiagos has a lot of potential because they have some good things going for them. 1. They are open early and have a drive through. 2. Their prices are low for what you get. 3. The food is fairly authentic tasting. It is actually more authentic tasting than the big chains like Taco Bell or Del Taco. Their breakfast burritos are good, probably the best thing they offer. So why the 3 star rating? The food is good for how cheap it is but not much better than average in general. The staff also hurts this place a little. I have visited 3 times and each time the staff did not greet me, didn't smile and weren't very friendly. It felt like all they wanted to do is get me out of their line as soon as possible. That may be true but they should at least pretend they are glad they have customers. If the staff were more friendly and upbeat it would help give Santiagos an engaging personality that would set it apart from an average fast food stop. People would go there because it feels good and not just because of the cheap food. read more
