Our first time trying Santiago's and we thought it was good. The room is nice and comfortable and we had fast and friendly service from our waitress and the kitchen. This is a simple menu and seemingly most everybody in the restaurant seemed to be ordering tacos. We tried the steak, chicken and fish tacos. We thought the steak was the strongest, followed by the fish taco. Portion was generous, especially for the modest price. The sides of rice and beans were small, and frankly not very flavorful. Oddly, no chips and salsa were offered, nor could they be purchased on the menu. We did see fresh made guacamole offered on the menu, but it was served with pita chips, and while I love pita chips, I don't think I would want them with guac. They do offer garlic bread, which makes me think Italian and not tacos. So there are certainly some quirks in this menu. I also had the house margarita which was not bad, but not exactly what was expected based on the ingredients listed on the menu. It seemed to be made with some kind of a sour mix, as it was served with a foamy top, usually an indicator of a mix. Overall we enjoyed our dinner, and would try this place again, despite the couple of things we felt odd with the menu. read more

Santiago's has a great local feel. The bartender on Tuesday is Melody, later in the week you can meet Fern. They have excellent lunch specials. I typically get the 3 tacos for $10. They are fresh and delicious. I really love their Mahi!! The bar is a very cozy and they have a giant screen TV. In summer, there are a few tables outside. Parking is limited in the front lot, but you can park behind the restaurant. Grab a coffee at Blue Harbor afterwards! read more

1st time there over Labor Day weekend. Small joint tucked away in a small plaza, but service and good was awesome. I bet it's tough to get in during their busy hours. Ordered the guac, shrimp ceviche and chicken tacos. All delicious and already talked about going back before we left. My husband and I had an early dinner last night, finding a full, jovial bar and no other diners, so we had the full attention of our server. The sangria I ordered was ok, a bit watered down tasting, I'd pass on it next time. We enjoyed the wicked shrimp special appetizer, on a bed of a smoky sauce that had just the right amount of heat. Husband had the taco combo, with fish and chicken, which came with a saffron rice and black beans. I had a grilled shrimp quesadilla, which also came with a side of beans. Our meals were tasty and fresh, and presented well. Although it feels like a very relaxed bar atmosphere, Santiago's food is not the usual bar food, nor is it the usual Mexican. Sometimes they have seafood paella as a special, and that is super good, I just wish they had it more often. We're glad to have Santiago's just up the road from us. read more

Popped into this spot for an app and drink after Riverfest. No Corona extra but they had Modelo. My girl enjoyed Reposado Casamigos tequila on the rocks. The ice was brought in a separate glass than the tequila. We ordered the queso dip with fresh pita chips. I was apprehensive about pita chips and Mexican queso sauce but it was a surprisingly good combo. The pita chips were grilled and seasoned and were really very good. The queso dip was not like any queso ive tried. It was spicy and had a cream cheese profile. Santiagos itself is cozy but large enough that i was immediately seated at a table. The other patrons food around me looked ok but I think there are better mexican options in the area. My waitress was nice and thorough. read more

This little place is tucked into Depot Square in Hampton and it is a gem. We went there for lunch. The specials menu offered 3 items for $10 each. We split the Santiago's salad (beautifully presented) and the 3 tacos with fillings of your choice. We got the chicken, magi-magi and carnitas. All 3 were fresh, tasty and quite different from one another. My favorite was the magi-magi with a wonderful dill sauce. The owner brought us a bit more to use as salad dressing for the reminder of our salad. Later, he also brought us tiny cups of the house ceviche. It is a lovely little restaurant with good service and great food. Highly recommended! read more

First time eating at Santiago's. We got there just after opening time, so we nearly had the place to ourselves. Larry, our waiter, was great. He was attentive, quick and had great recommendations. The ceviche was really delicious, as was the guacamole. The mahi tacos came highly recommended and they lived up to the hype. Their house hot sauce could have been a little hotter, but it is New England. We'll definitely be back. read more

Spent a day hanging out in Hampton and usually I just head to the beach but I am so happy to have randomly found this place. My favorite thing about this spot is the amazingly awesome team! They were so nice, helpful, & patient. The tacos were amazing, I opted for the shrimp taco and used their house made hot sauce. The drinks were on point (Skinny Margarita), shout out to the bartender Bella who took care of us. I ordered a glass of Cabernet, the bartender brought white. When I pointed this out, she apologized and corrected her error then took the white towards the kitchen and drank it in full view. The guacamole was served with pita chips (what?!) and absolutely flavorless. The margarita was mediocre at best. This place is incredible. There isn't an overwhelmingly large menu, and everything tastes incredible. The food was fresh and well made. Even my picky parents had no complaints! Disappointing food - no real tortilla chips - serve guacamole (pretty good) with over-seasoned pita chips. Street corn seemed microwaved rather than grilled. Short rib quesadilla just okay. Veggie bowl pretty good. Biggest concerns is they are not compliant with Covid-19 protocols in terms of socially distanced tables or plastic dividers at bars; wait staff not terribly disciplined with mask usage. Man I so wanted to like this place, but frankly the food was at best mediocre and the hygiene was questionable at best.

Tried the short rib, Mahi, shrimp, and chicken tacos as well as the ceviche and margaritas. All were great, especially the short rib and Mahi. The short rib was crispy on the outside and extremely tender on the inside. Another plus, there is no bottom shelf crap here. I appreciated the simplicity of the menu and the good execution. The vibe in this place is really great (by great, I mean a chill, local vibe), it's awesome spot to watch a ball game. The owner also came out and talked to every table. So compared to the other local taco places... this is way better than Barrio, and way better than Las Olas. I'd go to Burrito Loco for fast takeout and Santiagos when I have time to sit down and enjoy myself. The price point here is more competitive than Vida. For me personally, the lengua tacos at loco coco in Kittery are the best in the region but Santiagos short rib tacos bring competition... which doesn't happen often around here. read more
