My girlfriend and I had an amazing time here. We stayed in Nocelle so it was easy to get to but if you are staying in Positano you can catch the bus here if you don't decide to take the 2000 step stairway. Family owned restaurant with the sweetest staff, all fresh made dishes including the pasta, an amazing atmosphere and unbelievable view of the Amalfi coast. We enjoyed a few of the seafood pasta dishes which were just so fresh and tasty. I'd definitely come back if I'm ever in Positano again. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Italy! A local restaurant with great service, great recommendations for wine (their local white wine was delicious) and their food was amazing!! We stayed in Nocelle for 4 nights and ended up eating dinner at Santa Croce for 3 nights. They have a pizza night om Saturday and we tried the Cappriciosa and the pizza with onions and bacon was amazing. My favorite dish was the frutti di mare. The fried zucchini flower was also really good. Even their bread was nice... so in love with this restaurant. The prices were good, not expensive at all. And don't forget to try their dessert. Their pistage cheesecake and their lemon ice cream was to die for. A place I will definietly miss! read more

The place is very beautiful and charming. The moment you enter the restaurant, you get the smell their fresh pizzas coming out of the brick oven. The restaurant overlooks the beautiful coast and has one of the best views in town. The ingredients that they use in the food are amazingly fresh here. We had tomato and mozzarella salad, homemade veggie pasta (which my wife had and she said it was ok) and grilled lamb chops. Both the salad and lamb cops were mind blowing. They have some good collection of wine and are very reasonably priced. Me and my wife are going here tomorrow again and would certainly eat here again when I come back to this European paradise again in my life time. I would strongly recommend this place. We tried to go yesterday, but when we arrived and there was only one couple in the entire restaurant, along with five front tables, they would not allow us to sit it any of them without a reservation. We could sit in the other table, but not the front with views. So, we booked our table for tonight. We got there, and the table was lovely. The waiter was very nice. Our meals came and my dinner tasted and smelled bad, very gamey. The manager made no apologies, nor did they take it off the bill. Even though we were the first to eat there, they said their customers before me thought it tasted fine. After we finished paying our bill and were leaving, the manager finally asked if we would like something else. After we were already on our way out! No Thank you! read more

I ate a delicious plate of gnocchi here for lunch after hiking the Walk of the Gods trail (Sentiero degli Dei) from Boomerano. The little cafe ('El Chiosco') earlier on the trail was full of hikers and standing room only, so I was glad to find this restaurant. They gave me a table right at the window with great views of the sea. My waiter kept correcting my bad Italian because he wanted me to get it right. His service was very good. Definitely a great place for a hearty meal after the hike. Of course not as cheap as El Chiosco but worth it. You will then be ready for the walk down to Positano. read more

Staying in Ville Olimpo, right next door. Everything was exceptional but the fact that I had no trouble eating the fried shrimp, shell, head and all and found it not only delectable but a testament to the incomparable freshness and preparation of this crustacean. The views are beautiful! But...the food is underwhelming. We had the caprese salad to start (tomato and mozzarella cheese) and it was seasoned well. We then ordered the pasta with catch of the day. It was super fishy and my husband found a bone is his fish. I ordered the shrimp and zucchini past in lemon sauce and the majority of shrimp were not cleaned. If you're unsure what that means, it means that you're eating the digestive tract (or poop) from the shrimp. That really turned me off. However, it had lots of lemony delicious sauce. We were both super turned off by the food. And it was disappointing because we paid a good bill for the lackluster (and unclean) food we had. The views were gorgeous and the chance to sit and enjoy some beer before the hike was welcomed after the 2,000 steps to get up to Nochelle from the highway. Overall, we recommend sticking to the sandwich shop at the beginning of the trail. We didn't enjoy our food at Santa Croce. read more

This was one of our very favorite culinary stops on our vacation. We got up early in Positano and took a bus to neighboring Laurito. From there we hiked up into the mountains and hiked the Path of the Gods until we reached Nocelle. If you don't want to hike the several hour path up there you can take a bus into town. The location couldn't be more picturesque or romantic. Many of the tables have breathtaking views of the water far down below. My family is from Spain and I am no stranger to home cooked Mediterranean meals. It happens to be my favorite type of cuisine and I consider myself to be somewhat of a "foodie" (to put it politely, and "food snob" to put it another way). We loved the food here. Everything tasted extremely fresh and was carefully prepared. The flavors, aromas, fresh herbs and variety was outstanding. This restaurant is very unassuming but don't let that throw you off. The food quality was as good as anything we had on our Italian tour but definitely had that home spun touch to it. The prices were more than reasonable, the food was great, the views were amazing and the service was attentive without being overbearing. All in all a very good dining experience. read more

My daughter and I traveled through Italy for a little over two weeks and this was our favorite restaurant of the entire trip! We ate here all three of the days that we were in Positano. We stayed in a B&B in Nochelle so it was very easy to access. With that being said, if you aren't staying in the Nochelle area, I still highly recommend making trip up the mountain. Delicious food and absolutely breathtaking views. The waitstaff took their time to get to know you and make sure that your entire stay in Positano was perfect. PS- I highly recommend you trying the octopus or eggplant parmesan!! Both were the best I've ever had. read more

We stayed at a B&B in Nocelle for 2 nights and ended up here for dinner both nights. This was probably our favorite restaurant from our entire two-week trip through Italy! The first night we were seated by the windows and had an amazing view of the sunset over the Amalfi coast. We had the house white wine, a falanghina (a new varietal to me that I will definitely try to find here in the states) and the stuffed zucchini flowers and grilled octopus for appetizers. The octopus was good but the zucchini flowers were outstanding! They are seasonal I believe so you should definitely order them if they're available. We split the gnocchi alla sorentina (tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil) which was delicious. Finally for dessert we had the triple chocolate pie - so good, even if you are stuffed you should make room for dessert!. The second night the zucchini flowers were not available (so sad :( ) so we had the caprese salad for our appetizer. There was probably an entire fresh tomato on the plate and three huge globs of fresh mozzarella, so yummy. We then split the seafood pasta, which has mussels, clams, squid, and shrimp and was very tasty. Of course we had to have dessert again so my mom had the chocolate pie again and I had the white chocolate pistachio cheesecake - very light and fluffy. The waiters are friendly and helpful. If you are staying in the area I highly recommend the trek up to Nocelle to eat here! read more

The pasta, pizza, caprese, and zucchini flowers are good. However service is lacking. We felt like the owner just didn't like us, and other people at our hotel felt the same way too. They forgot about us a few times... The proteins we ordered when we felt carbed our were tough, and I wouldn't recommend the lamb chops or tuna. The pistachio cheesecake, chocolate cake, and ricotta pear dessert were great. I made the unfortunate decision of ordering strawberry pie that was covered in rotting mushy strawberries... and they still served it to me. Overall, this was actually a more expensive dinner we had so there are some major regrets. If you just want delicious cards, you should absolutely come here though! read more

Well worth the short (but hair raising) bus ride from the centre of Postiano. Whilst the restaurant is located indoors, the large open windows allow for a slight breeze and amazing views. As I was not overly hungry I only order 1 dish. The creeps with cheese and ham. Everything on the plate was amazing. The service too was faultless. We ate twice at Santa Croce during our short stay in Nocelle. On both occasions the wine was excellent but the service a bit lacking. The food experience could not have been more different however. On the first evening we ordered 2 courses from the menu. My boyfriend's veg soup starter was lovely but none of the other food was anything special and I thought the pasta in my cannelloni style dish was overcooked. The second time we went straight for the mains. We both ordered the specials - me; the mushroom risotto, which was creamy and delicious, and my boyfriend; the sea bream which he said was perfectly cooked and great with the light sauce. You're probably wondering why we went back the second time after not having a great experience the first time - well we'd done path of the gods that day and we really couldn't face the trek into town! So my advice, if you find yourself at Santa Croce, would be to go for the specials & the local wine. They obviously cook with fresh local ingredients and take a lot of care with the daily off menu dishes! read more

This was a nice surprise to a rainy night in Positano. We ordered the special appetizer, which was eggplant parmesan and it was terrific. It was like they used a sausage to cook the marinara before they poured it over the eggplant and baked the dish, because it had a wonderful smokey-ness and slight spice. The wine was very reasonably price for bottles and they had house barrel wine that could be ordered by the liter. For the main course we ordered the lamb chops done with a rosemary olive oil and the bronzino sautéed in a lemon caper butter. Both were great and the lamb was very tender and not gamey at all. The only thing that left a little to be desired was the dessert. It seemed like anything that was a special was a knockout though. read more

Waited a half hour for it to open after we finished the Path of Gods joke in Nocelle, and we were so glad we waited. The waiters were so nice and the food was fresh, local, authentic, & amaZing. We got fried zucchini flowers and cheese/meat plate for antipasti and we saw them pick and bring up the zucchini flowers while waiting. We each got a pasta for the main course and each was equally amazing - the shrimp zucchini pasta & the tortelloni. You could definitely tell everything was homemade. We would've definitely come here more if we weren't staying in Positano! Must do! read more

If you decide to take the stairs from Arienzo to Nocelle, you will be rewarded with a delightful meal here. We sat in a covered eating area with a stunning view. We ordered salads and the special that day of risotto with porcini and goat cheese. I love risotto and this was the BEST risotto I ever had and I am picky about them. Also had the local fish of the day which was delicious and very fresh. Salads were fresh with a light sprinkle of olive oil and vinegar. read more

After four of us finished hiking Path of the Gods trail, we were starving and looking for a place to go in Nocelle (ending point of the hike) for lunch. This was the perfect conclusion to our hike. This family run restaurant not only offers good service and excellent food, but the views from it are stunning - overlooking a big part of the Amalfi Coast and Positano. It serves excellent pasta, fish and its tomatoes are some of the best I have ever tried. Its prices are reasonable and consistent with other similar restaurants in Amalfi Coast. Four of us spent three nights at Nocelle. We loved this place...food, service, amazing view...so well that we ate there all three nights. The menu is relatively short and easy to navigate. The dishes were very nicely prepared. Prices were reasonable. It was uncrowded and unpressured. We just did not see a reason to go to Positano. We hope to go back! read more
