I love this place! I've been a regular customer for 15 years. Dong is the delightful owner who is a perfectionist. It's a one person shop so you're not just an anonymous person . Incredible! I saw this place on Yelp that was 0.7 miles from my hotel and decided to treat myself to the whole package. Pro Tip: Go in early or make an appointment in advance! They are incredibly busy especially on the weekend. I went in 30 min after they opened and they already had 2 customers, at 10:45am they had about 6 walk-ins that had to come back later. Mani/Pedi: Just fabulous and fast. The chairs have an awesome massage feature - I almost fell asleep on the chair. Haha. Also, one of the manicurists handed me a People mag and said "this one brand new" (lol). Make sure to ask them if you want a buffer - guys (gay or straight) should do it. Eyebrow/Forehead Wax: So, being a gay man I sometimes let my brows go. Not my fault. In any case the woman who did my brows was great - she shaped them incredibly well and although the wax was a bit hot for my taste she made it relatively painless. I also asked her to do my forehead since I've some baby hair there - no problem! She even showed me how much hair she got off. I wasn't shocked in the slightest. Total? $77 (services + tip). Awesome.. Most nail shops are Vietnamese owned as was this one, but this was the best I've had in long time. It's a not frills place. Being Fathers Day weekend and Summer Soltice, and arriving at 2pm in SB all nail shops were full. Hubby called this place and I got the last appoint. Husband and wife run it. three foot spa chairs and 6 nail tables. I've never had a guy do my nails and it was best nail service I've gotten in a while. Very friendly and efficient. I found this salon on Yelp after getting disappointed from another Nail Spa that made my french gel nail polish look terrible! I was hesitant cause I knew it is not a large fancy salon based on reviews but the lady did her job perfect. She worked on my nail about 2:30 very patiently not like other salons that they want to finish it in half an hour to get another customers nails done!! She did her job very neat and checked with me at each step. Although the tools were not sterilized but the work was just fantastic. My nails look so neat and the french is perfectly covered my nails! Fantastic little find. This is not a fancy, spa type place and it looks pretty nondescript from the outside, but it deserves a 5 star rating. Excellent value - mani & pedi for $35 with spa extras included, extremely friendly service, and an excellent job. My nails didn't chip for almost a week, and my pedi lasted forever (well, until my nails grew). I needed a last minute manicure, and chose SB Nails from the positive reviews here on Yelp. I wasn't disappointed. They were able to get me in right away. As others have mentioned, the place isn't luxurious, but the owners are very welcoming and friendly, making me feel right at home. The manicure was $12, meaning I'm going to go much more frequently than I have in the past. It didn't last as long as some others I've had, but hey, those also cost up to 6 times more. This is a family owned & operated establishment and I really like supporting them. I'm more of a spontaneous person (oh, I'm in the area, I should get my nails done) and they accommodate me when they can, but if you can make an appointment, that's a better strategy. You might find cheaper in town ($38 for a mani-pedi as of my last visit), but would it be the same quality? They will do what they can to make you happy. I've seen them completely redo a completed manicure because the woman didn't like the color she had picked (I hope she left a huge tip). read more

Came in Thursday 9/18/14 for mani/pedis for myself, husband and my maid of honor. The place is kind of gross, color selections aren't that great and I'm pretty sure simple green isn't an effective pedicure bowl sanitizer. My gel manicure was chipped/peeling by Sunday the 21st and my toe polish was done so far from my cuticles it looks as though I haven't gotten my nails done in a month. I had to redo my husbands pedicure and my maid of honor was unable to get two tone nails because of the lack of color selection. Her acrylics took forever and did not look like what she requested. She asked for black polish and got navy. Our total services were 200 bucks before gratuity and were absolutely not even close to being worth the money. read more

I came in with my bf and his brother. It's a small place and there was no one there. They were really sweet. My bf's bro needed a lot of help and I kinda felt bad for them because he had some gnarly ingrown toenails but they went to work on those suckers. It's been a week and my pedi still looks great. Our appointment was for right when they opened. We were the only customers and there were three employees there ready for us. They were helpful when I asked for color advice. Most importantly, all three of us prefer not to have our cuticles cut and the staff seemed familiar with this practice and were accommodating. I was visiting Santa Barbara and needed to get a fill. I should have asked how much upfront, I'm used to paying under $20 - they charged $25. I've never paid that much. I've also never had a fill where they didn't try and fix the parts that were lifting - like file it down so the acrylic would fill it in properly. They just added acrylic to the already lifting nail and less than 6 days later they have all come off. It was a very bad job. I visit SB about once a month and my go to nail salon (after much searching) is Santa Barbara Nails. The couple that run it, also do the majority of all the mani/pedi's. They are sweet, attentive and very good at their job. I always receive a fantastic mani/pedi and they always make sure that my needs are met.
