The only reason it's 4 stars is because I think the shop in general could use some TLC. A good cleaning would do wonders. They do use pedicure tub liners, and their instruments are sanitized.. so they are hygienic. But appearance wise, it's a bit dated, and there is acrylic dust everywhere. BUT the manicure itself was great. I don't know his name, unfortunately, (I should have asked) but he did a really nice job. He listened to what I wanted and was very gentle. He paid attention to detail and really looked over my nails extensively. And asked if I liked them so far several times. They use warm lotion and towels, which is really soothing. I don't live in the area but am here often, so if it happens that I'm in need of a manicure and here in town...I'd come here again. read more

I started going here about a year ago on a recommendation from my friend and it's next to my hair salon. They have 5 pedicure massage chairs and 3 nail stations. The same 4 people are always working and I would make an appointment and they stay on schedule with the appointments too!! Tina always does my pedicure and does a great job. She can deal with my funky toenail that I smashed years ago and an ingrown nail. The polish looks great and stays a long time! It's not your fancy nail salon but I have made it my go-to nail salon. They are closed Sunday's. I would park in the CVS parking lot, but they also have 75 minute parking on the street. read more

As other posters have said, this is a group of professionals who know what they're doing, both in terms of giving great nail service as well as honoring time commitments for those with an appointment. I was able to get an appointment very quickly. I showed up on time and they seated me right away...none of that ask me to choose a color and sit down, only to make me wonder why I bothered for an appointment in the first place! Tim gave a great gel manicure plus put an acrylic on a broken thumbnail. I asked for rounded square and that's what I got. He made helpful suggestions when I needed guidance with color and was just a really cool guy and easy to communicate with. I'm two weeks post appointment and my nails still look fresh as he didn't flood my cuticles so they are growing out very naturally. New favorite place for nail care for sure. read more

Found my new nail place! I came in for a fill and Tim killed it. He was super gentle with my nails and shaped them perfectly. Very affordable ($24 for regular fill + a nail fix). I liked that he didn't rush. I don't mind waiting on getting my nails done if someone is before me. I'd like the same type of service too and Tim delivered on that. Well, I was in a hurry to get a pedicure three days ago and went here. I had the manicurist remove my calluses, he used what looked like a cheese grater...he went so deep that I wasn't able to wear shoes since I went! My pedicure was fine but the pain wasn't! I called them that night and I believe that I spoke with the owner. He informed me that sometimes they have to "go that deep to do a proper job". Came in for the first time to get my acrylics taken off, which is usually done by soaking the nails in acetone. The nail tech clipped off the top of my pinky acrylic nail and started digging under with an unused acrylic nail. I told him to stop because it was absolutely the worst pain in the world and he seemed annoyed. Then, I asked him to soak them in acetone (the normal way) and he said no because it would take too long. So now my nails are going home looking worse than they did when I came in. read more

I stopped here while passing through town on my way to a wedding. The place itself was not especially clean, (minus one star) the walls need some painting & the floors weren't spic & span. HOWEVER, the staff know what's up when it comes to nails. I've had my fair share of mani/pedis, but I think the polish I got there looks the best I've had anywhere. Still zero chips or smears or cracks 5 days after it was done! Price was $39 for the 2 services & tips can be left on credit cards, which isn't always the case, but adds convenience. I LOVE this nail salon. I've lived in Santa Barbara for nearly two decades and have been to quite a few nail salons... and yet this one is by far the best! I love that they take their time and don't rush the process. I can feel the care and thoroughness they really put into their services. Walked in to rainbow nails for the first time today. I was immediately greeted and asked how I could be helped. Great customer service. I wanted to get a full set of acrylics, and they were able to help me out right then and there. He asked me to choose my color, and then have a seat. Tim did my nails, and did an incredible job. He was very polite, and gentle, and did great work. It took maybe about an hour or less. He worked quickly but didn't seem to be rushing at all. And I loved that he didn't try to convince me to get a gel top coat, he politely helped me chose my regular color. And a full set was just $27! A real bargain. I will definitely be coming back to have them filled by Tim at Rainbow nails. read more
