I've been here multiple times and have had the best mani/pedis each visit. Talked my mom into coming with me 2yrs ago because she never treats herself and she has gone back multiple times by herself! Had a fantastic experience at Elite Nails! My daughter and I needed a manicure and pedicure. Called when they opened, made an appointment for 11am and when we arrived they seated us and got started right away. The quality of my manicure and pedicure was amazing, cleaned up my cuticles and made my hands and feet feel great. They had a wide variety of colors for gel and regular polish. My daughter and I both left super happy with our nails and the service we received. Being out sick for two weeks, I needed a pick me up. So I decided to go and get my nails done. Had no appointment but Thoa was able to get me in asap. Thoa is always so sweet and thoughtful, asking how I wanted my nails and etc. Today I wanted to have something in ode to Valentine's Day. She asked " do you celebrate Valentine's Day" with a giggle. Good enough for what it is...I should know better than to go to walk in nail places because I am on the spectrum and am terribly picky when it comes to the shape of my nails. Thao (I'm guessing she's the owner) was my nail tech; she was very nice and accommodating. However she went very fast and like 4 of my nails look crooked on my fingers. They are all unevenly shaped and are varying thicknesses. I showed her a design I wanted and her attempt was feeble at best. It looked like a child attempted to put glitter on my nails. Thankfully when I mentioned that the attempt at the design was dissatisfying she removed it and just did a solid color. If I didn't have my mind set on going that day, I would have waited to find a different nail salon. I was a bit grossed out she used the same shaping file as the previous client, but I'm not a nail tech and don't know what the sanitation standards are. I thought most places are supposed to use new files for each client? Customer service wasn't spectacular. Had an appointment at 5, waited until 5:30 to be seated. I didn't have anywhere to be but it was annoying that one nail tech sat and played on her phone and ignored me while i waited for Thao to finish with her client. Another client was left alone for her toes to dry and had to ask several times if she could go after her pedicure and if she could have some foam flip flops. Price was decent, but not so cheap that I'll be back. I would have paid the premium rate to go somewhere else if I wasn't in a hurry. All in all: not bad if you're not particular. They look like they do excellent massages with pedis and manis. Quick to get in and friendly enough. read more

I tried this nail salon, because I needed my nails done for an event and my usual salon was booked. I thought that, if I liked them, I might even switch. Well, that's not happening. I made an appointment, but when I got in, the owner was not friendly and made me wait 30 minutes, without ever acknowledging me or apologizing. Then, the assistant gave me a mani/pedi, and she seemed a bit inexperienced. She asked me how I wanted them, I said rounded (like they were), and she took her clipper and cut a nail flat into a short square and said "like this"? Well, no, but it was too late, because I wanted them all to match. She made them all short & square, and most were crooked. I asked for French, and she hand painted one coat of white on, then one topcoat of gloss. Within two days, the gloss coat was peeling off, and the white was chipping! $70 was a lot to pay for a manicure & pedicure that lasted 1.5 days. Also, the ambience wasn't nice, bad elevator music and TV going with no sound or closed captioning. (Why bother having it on?) On the way out, the owner never looked up or thanked me. Went in for a fill. First, the manicurist started aggressively hacking at the acrylic tips. She grabbed pieces of the acrylic off the sides with the clippers by twisting and yanking them off my natural nail. She started this before I could say anything. I was afraid to say anything because I was afraid she would just inflict more damage. She was aggressive with the file bit as well, pressing down insanely hard on the surface of my natural nail at the cuticle. The acrylic tips were filed as well and none of them are even! They all slant in different directions not even and straight across. My fingers were sore for a couple of days after. Also, in the middle of the manicure she picks up a dirty looking remote control to turn on the TV then grabs my hand to continue! Super gross! NEVER, ever, ever again. Update: See photo. Due to the unnecessarily aggressive use of a sanding bit on my nails one of them split all the way across and through to the skin underneath. I have to keep a Bandaid over it to protect it from splitting off. Don't let these people touch your nails! read more

I have tried 2 nail salons in Carpinteria and a bit disappointed with both. Scared to try this place, but really needed a pedicure. I made an appointment, but the place was packed when I got there and ended up waiting about 20 minutes past the appointment. Anna was great! Pedicures are not relaxing for me, but painted toenails are needed for open toed shoes and it had been 4 months since my last pedicure! Anna put a nice flower and gave me a nice massage! I ended up going back 2 days later to re do a gel manicure I got in Simi Valley that was just awful! Anna took care of me again and did a great job!!! I think I have found my new place! read more

If I could give a negative star I would. I'm so disappointed with the quality of work at this establishment. my 13 year old went in using her bday money to have acrylics put on. They did a horrible job. She went in for a refund to be greeted by the owner arms crossed and refunded her rudely asking her not to return. when my daughter told her to keep the tip she was told... take your money I don't want it. My daughter is 13! Did I mention she used her bday money?! Months prior I went in to have my nails filled and had to have them removed due to excessive mold. It's not a very nice place. I got a basic manicure. Their selection of Opi polish seemed decent. The person doing my manicure was nice enough and did an ok job. But after paying I started noticing bubbles in the polish. And tonight when washing dishes several hours after the manicure, the polish slid off 3 of my fingernails. I'm so disappointed as I have a special occasion to attend tomorrow. I've never had that happen before. Plus, some of the employees' children had their feet up on the nail drying counter. I was grossed out when they had me put my hands there to dry after telling the child to move. Plus the kid was watching cartoons on the salon TV. That's not exactly what I think women want to watch while getting their nails done. Not professional enough for me. I'll have to try another nail place in Carpinteria next time. read more

Everyone that has worked on my nails has been great. Yesterday I popped in because I had a high break in my gel manicure that was still connected to my skin. They were busy but quickly fit me in, secured my nail, and it looks good as new! They wouldn't let me pay them either. read more

Good: Seems clean. They have autoclaves in full view so you can see they really do clean their tools. Tile floor looks clean and the pedicure bowls seem okay, too. Bad: Hard to communicate with some of the staff. At a recent visit, I was cut severely by a really overzealous manicurist who thought I needed part of my skin cut away with my cuticle. When I yelped (no pun) and pulled my hand back, she said, "Hard skin. Needs cut." Cue blood and a lot of pain. She then shoves my hand back into water, which is the height of hygiene, I'm sure. (My skin is very soft, I don't have hard skin anywhere on my body and even if I did, I think it's really weird that someone would just cut into my skin for not reason.) Well, two weeks later, I'm still sore and I'm not sure if I hadn't put antibiotic creme on my wound if I would have been dealing with an infection, or not. Bottom line: The place might be clean and you could get a great mani or pedi, but Beware The Hacker Manicurist. Just in time for Halloween. read more

I have been using this salon for over 20 years. They are wonderful. Very consistent. Their products are great. The polish and work lasts! I moved away from the area 7 years ago, but still come to them when I am in town visiting relatives. And actually plan my trips around my pedicure needs!! I tried to use other places for convenience in and around Carpinteria, Santa Barbara and Summerland but all ways come back to Elite. Very nice ladies and great job! I highly recommend Elite. I received a decent pedicure here, BUT they were not honest and open about the cost! We were told that a pedicure would be $25. We were actually charged almost $40 each. They never told us that they were offering services that were an up charge. We would have gladly paid for the "deluxe" pedicure which included more services than we received for $35 and been really happy. It was just dishonest and sneaky. read more

I usually don't do this but since I was actually hurt by what had happened to me I think everyone else should prepare before you get your nails done here. I know they have a lot of loyal customers and maybe you get treated better than random walk-ins. I have been here many times I am a local. But this was my worst experience by far. Initially I asked for them to take off my old acrylics and get a new set. She said it was 30 right off the bat now $5 extra to take them off. Then she also said they charge $5 for the length. And I was done at that point she proceeded to take off my old acrylics and ripped off my fingernail was bleeding everywhere. They put glue on it they didn't sanitize it. They still had my friend pay full price. All my nails are uneven they do not look anyting close to identical I know every nail is not perfect but at least you could try. It took them an hour and 45 minutes from start to finish. Never going back should have stuck with my gut. read more

Not so good gell mani. Color wasn't the one on the sample which was not a huge problem cus I still liked the color I ended up with. She got nail pollish on my finger tips and cuticles on at least half the fingers and couldnt figure out how to get it off. Instead of just using acetone she filed the skin to try and remove. The sign says 25/30 for gell and she charged me 35 with no removal of previous hell needed. read more
