My nails were a complete mess so I decided to drop in for a refill. As soon as I walked in, Nathan (the owner, I believe), shouted aggressively across the room at me to pick out my color. He ended up being the one to do my nails. I definitely softened him up with some conversations, but to be honest... the customer really shouldn't be responsible for doing that. On the phone, they quoted me about $30 for my refills. At the register, they up-charged me to $45 + tip because my nails were too grown out... Please, my nails were only 3 weeks out from my last refill! Also, I literally asked for something sooo simple and it took them almost 1.5 hours. I left the store stunned. Within a few days, at least 3-4 of my nails were chipping. Mind you, I work a desk job and I'm not doing any heavy lifting. All in all, don't recommend coming here. If you're a student like me who doesn't actually live in SB, please just get your nails done in your respective hometowns lol (the Bay, LA/OC). They will likely be kinder, do a much better job (and probably throw in a few jewels or designs) for like half the price. read more

The ends of my gel nails are done so badly and are not even smooth. Looks so bad after it grew out for a week :( Theyre also lifting off and it's really annoying! I've been coming here for 2 years now on the recommendation of a friend. When I first started, it was wonderful, Nathan did a great job on dip polishes and Qui is excellent on pedicures. I've just been noticing the quality dropping significantly. Customer service has never been their strong point, silence during services is not uncommon, or on personal phone calls. I've seen and heard Nathan be short (rude) to people while I have been getting my nails done. Alright so I deviated from my typical nail salon of 3yrs due to some recent bad experiences . I heard of Nathan's nails and suggested my mom try it out when she was in town. Her nails came out great! So I got dip powder acrylics mani and gel pedi. I definitely was there for a decent amount of time due to the fact there's only two employees however I always block out time for nails so this didn't concern me. May concern others tho. I personally loved it because it was so quiet and relaxing. They also had my feet in hot water while I waited and they routinely made sure it stayed warm! It was my first time doing nails ever in my life. I came here because some friends recommended me to Nathan's. It was a good experience and I got a pedicure and acrylics with gel polish. Total was $65 before tips. After a day I noticed I had some gaps in between my cuticles and they were nice enough to fix it for me after a few days because I had work and was busy. I absolutely love my nails. First time going to nathans, they did hurt me a little but I love how they did my acrylic set thin and they put the right amount of coats. I had gone to this one place in LA right before and they made my nails thick and you could tell it needed another coat but the lady didn't want to use another coat saying 'i was fine'. I've been coming to Nathan since I moved to Santa Barbara in 2016. I've had gel manicures, and now recently tried acrylics on my natural nails. I've been to a few other nail salons in the Goleta area but they are usually priced about $5 higher for each service. Nathan does a phenomenal job and pays attention to detail. My manicures last far beyond the recommended 2-3 weeks. I usually can be seen in a reasonable time without making an appointment which I appreciate. read more

Disappointed. I really wanted to like this place after reading so many positive reviews. The dip manicure is just an application, not a manicure. They did not clean, trim, or shape my nails. They did not even apply lotion. They also used an electric nail file to thin the top of the nail and remove the cuticles, which was very painful. I checked several times to see if I was bleeding. The nails are different lengths, and some have sharp edges and others are rounder. Not what I expected for a $51 service. read more

I just stopped in to visit Qui for a manicure and an eyebrow wax. She was really sweet and did a wonderful job on both of my services.
